Finally, my tech post is coming.

Technology and You!

Eden is a world rife with monsters, demons, fae folk, strange oozes and slimes, restless spirits, and more, yet it is also full of all kinds of inventions and weapons of war to combat the dangers out there.  Grenades that are made to release fire, poison gases, bright lights, and more, to steam empowered airships, repeater crossbows, experimental black powder cannons, flintlock pistols.  I could go on and on.  The point being that just as mages must study their crafts for years before they are able to use it properly lest they burn down a city, so too do those that muck with today's latest mechanical feats of engineering since they are just as dangerous if not more so than any spell.  A machine doesn't get tired after all.

Excerpt from Technology and the People's Guide to Today's Greatest Engineering Feats, written by Douglas Brawnhammer, formerly of the Dwarven Smith Guild.

Technology is on par with early Renaissance Earth, meaning anything from early cannons to indoor plumbing for the moderately structurally sound parts of Eden's cities are common place.  Gun powder is still in its infancy for the most part and is thus hard to acquire let alone make, but it is there.  Steam rules the day however in the form of massive fleets of airships for the upper class of society as well as sky pirates, mercenary bands, and the armies of every major power across the world that is Eden.

The Gamer

Birth Name: Karl Willamson
Other Aliases: The Wiz Kid, The Techmaster, GM
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Height: 6'4''
Hair Color: brown
Eye Color: blue
Skin Color: lightly tanned, verging on pale
Other Distinguishing Features: a Neural Jack in the back of his neck and an electronic tattoo on his left arm.(The tatoo is ether off or shows a dragon curled up on his arm when he's not using it as a screen or a key board.)
Orientation: Straight

Description/Images

Biography
Occupation: Chief Facilitator of Game Maintenance and Development Communication - He was in charge of keeping the programmers, designers, graphic artists, neural translation specialists and the AI in constant communication throughout development. Now that the game is out he does the same thing to keep improving it while also playing long hours both for testing and to get a feel for how the players react to it. Because it's part of his job he already had some of the best VR gear available and he gets to play for free as long as he turns in regular reports on gamer opinions and the game itself. To help with this he is one of the few people who can activate a setting that will let him know if whoever he meets is a PC or not, though he mostly keeps this off when not actively working.
Income: High
Belief System: Christan (non-denominational)
Marital Status: Single
Friends: Assorted geeks

Personality
Computer games, board games, table top games, and VR games. Karl has played them all and left a slew of bodies behind him... and almost as many broken hearts. He's the gamer's gamer and a hard core geek and it shows in everything. A personal code of honor and 'white knight' mentality lead many to assume he's a 'nieve good guy', but it's really more of a cover. On the inside he's drawn to kinky sex, violence, and dark passions and it's taken him years to find a comfortable middle ground. He has been playing Eden as his recreation and outlet since the early launch for pre-orders started and, because his job involves playing, has logged more hours then just about anyone else in the game. To avoid burning out

The Avatars

Name: Morgul the Necromancer
Other Aliases: The Dark Guardian, Ruler of Shadows, Him
Race: Goliath
Gender: Male
Age: 30
Height: 7'6''
Hair Color: N/A
Eye Color: Tan
Skin Color: Tan with dark brown markings
Other Distinguishing Features: Covered in the tattoo-like markings common to his kind.
Orientation: Straight

Description/Images

He actually only wields a War Pick and Mace when not using a magic focus.

Personality
Sinister in appearance and powers, Morgul is actually a defender of light and order. He's no paladin though, it is not uncommon to find him in a bed in some fire scarred village inn surrounded by thankful, and naked, women after saving their home from an orc horde or some similar danger. He likes dominating his women when he can and nothing turns him on more then some willing slut, who likes being put on her hands and knees, but who puts up just enough fight that he can force her there. When not saving the day or fucking a willing pet he's not above looting ancient tombs or lost ruins for lost magics or plain old fashion treasure. All in all a most confusing individual.

Biography/History
Class: Necromancer/Earth Mage/Warrior (In order of dedication)
Reputation: Wealthy, powerful, dangerous, a last hope for the hopeless, and a great lay. Many can't seem to make up their minds about him but almost as many simply assume that the stories that don't fit their personal encounters are ether made up or about someone else. The merchants and tavern keepers mostly focus on the way he always seems to have plenty of money or rare and valuable goods. The ladies talk about how he's willing to do almost anything a girl wants, from hard and heavy to gentle and sweet, and hung like a horse as well as willing to please. The thieves tell stories of how those who try to rob him end up laying in the street shivering, while those who try to kill him are often seen again as brand new undead bodyguards. Mages speak of his strength with the dark powers of the dead and his skill with earth magic as well. Barbarians tell tales of the feats of strength or toughness he's done with his natural abilities in those areas. And last but not least, tales abound of the cities, villages, and towns he's saved from all manner of threats over the years.
Gods Worshipped: Mystra- Goddess of all magic; The Spirits of the Unformed Lands- spirits of a realm of the dead
Marital Status: Single, but with numerous lovers.
Friends: Many allies and people who would be more then willing to help any way they could but no real 'friends'.
History: Born in a high mountain village, like most of his people, Morgul was first trained in weapons and how to best make use of the naturally large strong stature of his people in battle. When it became clear he had a give for magic he was taught how to use the innate connection his people have with the earth to empower his magics. Despite his skill with Earth magic Morgul found himself increasingly drawn to the darker powers of necromancy, when his people found out he was exiled for practicing such forbidden magics. Despite being exiled, Morgul continued both to protect his tribe and advance his studies. With losses among both warriors and their herds drastically reduced his tribe flourished and became powerful. When the tribe druids divined the reason for their new prosperity Morgul's banishment was ended, but he hungered for adventure and declined to return to nomad life. Seeing his restlessness the tribe chieftain appointed him ambassador to the lowlanders and sent him off to make contact. That was almost 10 years ago and Everesta now enjoys a vibrant trade with his home village while he wonders the world and amuses himself as he may. Despite his skill with magic he has not completely abandoned the weapon training of his youth, finding that few foes expect a mage with a mace.

Oh hey, so I thought of adding something like what the Settings screen would look like for your character.  I know it's one more thing which is kind of why I'm throwing it out there to see how people respond.  The other option is just to show the screen (it's just a table on here) and you can determine how your character would have theirs set without having to post it, since things like that could change.

You can do that?  How?  I'm curious what it all looks like but I think it could be applied, but that's just me lol.

And Saric, love your character my friend.  Your magic focus however is just what magics he's good at, you didn't have to list your equipment in there as well.  Those items you have you can put into your actual equipment unless Darwishi told ya differently which then I might have to go back and edit myself lol.

Eh that stuff can be in magic, I guess. Doesn't matter to me. lol

But yeah Magic is one of the six that Vergil listed and then their focus inside of that category.

Oh... I put that stuff in Skills instead, to me a 'magic focus' is an item you use to focus your magic...

Do you want me to change it? I can do ether way.

Great! I'll start work on part two now!

Instead of two Gamers with a character each I decided to go with one Gamer and two characters. Among other things it means I'll never end up playing with myself.  :P

Someone asked and I now provide an answer.  Let's see what you guys say shall we?  It's been mentioned before but this is a confirmation of how sex and all its little delights will be handled.

Love, Lust, Sex, and Everything In-Between

All life is sacred, no matter what form it might take.  Even so, for sentient beings, the circle that governs life is not to be treated lightly by some.  Procreation is a sacred act among most people, but even if one uses sex as a means for pleasure alone, the chance of life to be created from such an act is still there.  Regardless of one's intent or mindset at the time, such acts of love or lust shouldn't be taken lightly.  For those like me however that use sex to heal the mind, body, and soul, it can be so much more than two bodies joining together as one.

Excerpt from the Ways of the Sacred Prostitute, book III, written by Neria Zathrieal, former high priestess of Sune and Corellon Larathain.

As it's been mentioned before, the 'game world' has settings built into the system to allow different things to happen to your character.  For example, some monsters are a bit....rape happy, to put it nicely.  Setting your preferences however can prevent such a thing, but most that play in Eden let their settings be quite free as a means to experience everything the game world has to offer.  Beyond that, because this is set in Extreme, pretty much anything will be allowed but I do ask that people respect O/Os as much as possible.  Still, beyond that I just ask ya have fun lol.

The Gamer

Birth Name: Kelly Lee
Other Aliases: Leelee
Gender: Female
Age: 28
Height: 5'4
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Skin Color: Pale, untannable
Other Distinguishing Features: none
Orientation: Straight, but Bicurious

Description/Images

Biography
Occupation: Surgeon
Income: High
Belief System: Athiest
Marital Status: Single, Looking
Friends: (any takers? :D)

Kelly works as one of the best remote surgeons in the world. A protege of the medical arts she obtained her degree and license to operate at an insanely young age of 22. It was because of the onset of VR technology that her slender skilled fingers can perform heart surgery remotely from miles away. Part of the perks of being on the leading edge of VR technology was her early introduction to VR Eden. Her 'operating theatre' at home doubles as her VR playroom when she is not on duty. There she gets to express the more risque part of her personality without risking real life consequences.

Personality
By nature Kelly is quiet and soft spoken. She is as intelligent as she is shy. Her wealth and fame have draw suitors of high profile flocking, but their aggressive and domineering personalities turn her off. She's looking for someone who is gentle and soft but also can bring out the adventurous side of her. Kelly likes to think on problems before tackling them if she can, though she is known for her clarity of thought in emergency situations.

The Avatar

Name: Victoria Blaze
Other Aliases: Blaze, Vicky
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Height: 5'8
Hair Color: Flaming Red
Eye Color: Orange
Skin Color: Fair
Other Distinguishing Features: Vicky has a scatter of cute freckles across her beautiful face
Orientation: Bicurious

Description/Images

Personality
Vicky's personality is the polar opposite of Kelly's. Vicky embodies the stereotypical view of redheads. she is impulsive, reckless, and prone to acting before thinking. She is very blunt and her patience begins and ends with waiting for her mug of ale at the tavern. She is very chirpy, cheerful and flirty when she is calm, but her temper is legendary.

When it comes to other people, it is easy to gain her friendship and easy to lose it. However, her loyalty is entirely harder to obtain, but once achieved, she sticks with her true friends through thick and thin. It is easy to upset her with careless words, but wounds are quickly mended with apologies or a nice gift. Yes, Vicky is a material girl, almost a magpie for the shineys.

Sexually, Vicky has been straight, just like Kelly once was, but with the new updates in the VR system, Vicky is tentatively bicurious, wondering if she will like the experience.

At random, she hates bugs with a passion (ie a stomping passion), loves cats and dogs equally of all sizes, distrusts people with mustaches, and is mortally afraid of heights.

Biography/History
Class: Battle Mage
Race: Human
Reputation: Chaotic Good
Gods Worshipped: God of the Volcano
Marital Status: Single and Flirting
Friends: (Any takers :D?)

History: Vicky started out early when Eden first came on the scene. She began training in Fire magic, but added Earth Magic to her arsenal when she had to quest alone. Over several years she has come to be the consummate Master of Fire and Earth Magic, earning herself the title of 'Volcano' (or perhaps that was for her temper). Her reputation for being hotblooded was reinforced when a vampire tried to suck her blood while in combat. Her volcanic hot blood seared burned him from the inside out.

Her first big break which began her fame was during her training period. One of the annual challenges was an obsticle course ringed and walled with flowing lava. Contestants were meant to traverse the maze, fighting monsters of various elements, in order to get to the prize cup. Cheeky Vicky, however, merely ran straight through all the lava walls, lifting the cup before any of the other contestants even encountered their first fight. This caused much consternation among the arcane community. No one before had ever practice or heard of Lava magic, and some viewed Vicky as a possible threat to Eden.

The mages of the fraternity convinced her tutors that she could no longer learn magic due to her volatile nature and dangerous power. Disheartened she traveled to a remote mountain tribe, situated on the side of a live volcano. There she learned from the natives how to control and use fire and earth magic to constructive ends. One of the key beings she met was the fire shaman, Ertai. He taught her of the creatures and animals that lived within flames, their lives short and vibrant. Through his guidance, she managed to learn how to summon these creatures through her magic, her favorite summon being an eternal Lava Phoenix. She learned  to summon the enormous vengeful living lava phoenix, which could devastate a battlefield. This spell drains her entirely, often knocking her out but no enemy has yet been able to exploit this, as the Phoenix remains active until she awakes, at which time it reenters her body, restoring her power.

She would have been content to stay in the village, but her wanderlust took her out exploring on the very day that several of her jealous ex-classmates, now full mages, appeared at the village. They threatened to destroy the village if the chief and shaman didn't tell them where Victoria was. The chief refused outright, sparking a magic battle which all but tore the village apart. Victoria returned later that day to find all the villagers slain or captured, and her great mentor Ertai dying. With his last breath he told Victoria to stay true to herself, and to seek justice.

Thus it was that Victoria returned to the Mage circle where she first studied, calling out each of the mages involved, challenging them to single combat. 1 vs the many. Laughing, they accepted, believing their combined magic could overcome her. in the arena. They were wrong. Vicky summoned the Phoenix within, pouring all her anger and vengeance into the spell. The Phoenix all but incinerated the mages, and a good portion of the arena as well. Knocked unconscious and rendered weak, she was nursed back to health over several days. The high court of the city declared the mages guilty for their crimes of genocide on the village, and decreed Victoria's actions to be the just punishment. Victoria's banishment from the circle was lifted, and she was offered a place in the circle as a mentor. She accepted, but soon grew bored of schoolteacher life, and left the circle to wander as she pleased.

Vicky's style of combat is frontline magic. While other mages like to stand afar and rain spell upon the enemy, Vicky likes to be in the fray. Her Blazing fire magic scorches a path wherever she walks, every strike carrying the burn of the flame, and the weight of the earth. When her magic is active, her hands and hair glow like flame, emanating the same heat as a furnace. She can combine her two magic specialties to conjure molten lava, either at approaching or pursuing enemies to impede them. While she is athletic and toned, and her HP is a little higher than most mages, she is still woefully weaker physically than all other classes. The strength of her strikes comes from her earth/fire enchanted spells and projectiles. Her most powerful spell is the Volcanic Phoenix (see picture),

Her reputation is chaotic good, she is very helpful to those who need it, and has been known to help young fire/earth mages with their studies. She is often hired for her magical knowledge, though because the collateral damage from her...liberal use of her skills, the quests she usually undertakes do not require subtlety. She IS however, working on greater self control. Unfortunately she has been known to accept less savory assignments which pay well. Luckily these are few and far between.

Magic Focus
Fire: Fire Creation/Absorption, Fireballs, Fire Rain, Enchanting Weapons, Flame Breath, Burning Aura, Minor wound healing
Earth: Stone Armour (self or others), Earthweight Strikes, Stone Wall, Earth's Grip (slows/immobilizes enemies)
Lava (Special Fire/Earth): Searing Lash (whip), Lava Flow/Projectiles, Volcanic Phoenix, Fireblood

Skills
Athletic: Has raised dexterity and energy/mana
Heat Sink: Regenerates HP/MP when standing near or in Fire
Metallurgy: Her knowledge of Fire and Earth gives her expert knowledge about crafting and enchanting weapons of fire or earth nature.

Equipment
Brimestone Gauntlets: Specially crafted Gauntlets which enhance her control of Fire and Earth
Truesight Goggles: With all her fire, she sometimes needs the goggles which can see through the flame and smoke
Flash Grenades: She purchases these from the NPC in town, in case she meets her aquatic equal and needs to beat a hasty retreat. Fortunately she has never needed to use these in combat, though she has set a few off in the bedroom by accident.

Weaknesses
Ice/Water Magic: Naturally her fire magic is nullified in the face of Water and Ice magic. She can overcome this by combining Earth with Fire to use Lava Magic, but this takes substantially more energy and power.
Heights: Her affinity for earth magic has left it's mark. Vicky is mortally afraid of heights, especially on airships where she has no access to the earth. If truly terrified with no one for comfort she'll spend the entire journey in the furnace room, next to the burning coals and flames.
Wind Magic: Wind magic is only a partial weakness. While it blows away earth spells, it strengthens fire spells
Emotions: Vicky's impulsive volatile nature makes her an easy target for those who can manipulate emotions...but it is like playing with fire, one wrong move and it will burn back.

Ok my lovely Lucifia.  I LOVE your gal, but you didn't have to include how you fought and how you used magic in your history.  History is for describing your gal's background more than anything as the others have done already, so if you change that up a bit it'll be better lol.  The start was good but I wanted to hear about her adventures more so than anything hun :D.  That aside she's perfect and as soon as I get the other threads up and stuff you and the rest of the gang will be good to go.

I actually lied a little bit lol.  You and probably everyone needs to add a Race spot in their profiles.  Between Class and Reputation should work, but otherwise go ahead and get your people posted everyone that's already been approved anyway.

It's a pain in the ass.  Buuut basically I used After Effects and a LOT of pictures of really hot women.

It's the size of the largest avatar I could find at the time (keep in mind it's a couple of years old) and then I made the project that size in after effects.  Then I just made each picture like two or three seconds long and made it into an animated GIF.  It's a huge file, and I uploaded it to Elliquiy's avatar thing and it's been there ever since.

This is actually the second one I've made.  But yeah, essentially it's an animated GIF file and the "animation" is it changing from picture to picture.

Oh yeah, annnd I'll have a knight here soon enough that anyone can be friends with.  Or she can be friends with my assassin.  We can figure out how they wound up being loyal to one another if you want.  They both have that same kind of mentality about loyalty.
