List Within a List
« on: January 15, 2012, 04:30:28 AM »
Help! I've spent the last hour scouring the help forums, search option, and simple machines. I'm trying to figure out the code on how to write a list within a list without having to do it all manually. I would like it to look like this:

  • Stuff and Things
  • Info1
  • Info2

I've figured that part out but then I'd like it to progress to "Stuff and Things" number 2 but it just reverts back to 1 since I have to restart that list. I have about 8 pages of notes for a role play that I'd like to put into list format and I might just cry if I have to do it manually without a helpful code. This seems like there is a fairly simple answer that I may be overlooking being that it's 5:30 in the morning here. Help? Please?

  • List 1
    • Item A
    • Item B
    • Item C
  • List 2
    • Item A
    • Item B
    • Item C
  • List 3
    • Item A
    • Item B
    • Item C

Code: [Select]
[li]List 1
[li]Item A[/li]
[li]Item B[/li]
[li]Item C[/li]
[/li]
[li]List 2
[li]Item A[/li]
[li]Item B[/li]
[li]Item C[/li]
[/li]
[li]List 3
[li]Item A[/li]
[li]Item B[/li]
[li]Item C[/li]
[/li]
The key is to not end your </li> tag, and then to start a new list. :)

thanks. ;D

You can also keep nesting with the same technique, it just might get a little confusing if you go too deeply, though. It helps if you keep track of your end tags, because if you mess up, it can be difficult to figure out where things went wrong in your code.
