Welcome to the year 2137. Earth has several colonies in space and even more mining installations. Several great conflicts have been fought over resources and even franchises. Goverment and multinationals struggle for control and the most distant stations are infested with corrupt officials and the dregs of society. When a young female Marshall is transferred to a crucial starbase as punishment for sticking her nose where it does not belong she begins to look into several oddities that are going on.
Security turns out corrupt to the bone and a particularly vicious drugsmaffia operates on the station. The miners are in cahoots letting small shipments 'dissapear'. These are but a few samples of the problems. The highly intelligent woman refuses to back down and ends up with her back to the wall. Now hitsquads are coming for her and a dangerous weapon of mass destruction is ready to be shipped.

In a place where she has no allies to turn to and even the civillians have no urge to better themselves, she can only turn to a man that by all accounts should be her greatest nemesis.
A man that served with her father in the most disastrous war since World War IV, who became a legendary bounty hunter and in time betrayed her father. Her father falsely accused was brought in by this man who thought only about the letter of the law and the next deposit on his account.
The now veteran man seeks refuge and oblivion at the bottom of the bottle and seems to lost all that raised her heroic father's admiration. He also takes far too many sedatives to endure pains gained from a lifetime of hardship beyond a common man.

A dubious addicted mercenary who has lost his believe in order and justice and a naive idealistic law-woman are all that are left to prevent a cataclysmic disaster...
