Rebelle

Hey there!

Okay - so I have read the Shadowhunters books (Mortal Instruments and the Dark Artifices) by Cassandra Clare, as well as watched the movie and the TV show.  And I have to say that the setting for the books is one that intrigues me.  And thus - I have slowly been world building a setting in this world.

And in doing so - making sure that it is as inclusive as possible, by giving as much information as I can for those who know NOTHING about the setting but think that a Supernatural world that lives amongst the humans but the humans (whom are called Mundanes) are rarely ever aware of would be cool.  Either it be as one of those Supernatural, one of the Shadowhunters (Who kind of keeps the Supernatural [known as Downworlders] in check), or one of the Mundanes who actually can see what is going on around them.

And so now... I am bringing it here, to see if anyone is actually possibly interested

So without further adieu I shall copy and paste my first two posts in my World Building Thread here...

Setting: Chicago, Illinois

Time:  After the defeat of Valentine/Sebastian - Opening up the Shadowworld to possible Mundane Shadowhunters as well as giving far more opportunity for villains of my own design.

Institute: St. Stephens Church (Abandoned - those who buy the property run into a string of bad luck and nothing comes of the property [wonder why].  Whilst the LA and NYC Institutes are well known, the Chicago Institute has always been there, slightly smaller but just as effective.  They also tend to police over Canada as well when the Canadian Institutes need assistance.

Familiarity with Downworlders: Not looking for open hostility at least from Werewolves/Mages mostly (as these along with Half-Fae would be playable concepts) Could see the same shenanigans with fae that always seem to be there, if not more so due to the Cold Peace (Where the Fae are considered not part of the Accords any longer, and they are not allowed to have weapons, and be forced to pay reparations due to siding with Sebastian Morganstern during the long war, not just betraying the Shaodhunters but also other Downworlders as the Seelie Queen believed that they would be on the winning side)  And there have been quite a few nests of Vampires cropping up.

Original Characters Only

Life was never what it seemed to be.  Those little tiny things that lurked just out of your periphery.  One moment, you swear you saw the glint of cat like eyes from the tall man standing across the street – and then the next… They disappeared.  It was a play of the light – your mind tells you so, and you accept it for truth.

It is your truth after all.

It is not the truth of the Heavens, it is not the truth of Hell.  It is your truth as a Mundane, those who walk through the world unknowingly rubbing shoulders with the likes of werewolves, warlocks, faeries, and yes even vampires – you walk alongside them, never knowing the truth.

However, fear not, you do not walk alone.

There are those who walk through the darkness, those who protect you from the things that lurk in the shadows; yet they too are separated from you.  They are the children of Angels, borne from a lineage created long ago as the blood of man and Angel joined together in a single cup  - to be drank by those willing to stand up to great demonic forces.   And so it has been, their lineage passed from generation to generation, the blood of the Angel flowing through them, offering them super human abilities.  They are known as Shadow Hunters, tasked with the sacred mission of protecting humanity from demons and others who ignore historical laws put into place over one hundred years ago.

You may not see them.

But they are there.

I would be the GM, and this would be a GM led game.  While I won't hold the reigns as tightly as a GM as I want this to be a vibrant world for you guys, to make it this living breathing thing that you can be part of.. I will be running scenes for you, either they be missions for the Shadowhunters, a werewolf meeting, a meeting with the high wizard of Chicago, etc etc.

I work full time in the medical field, second shift, and sometimes I am way too tired to post on the days I work.  So as such the pacing for this game will be a casual.  Not super casual, but I would hope to have one post every 1-2 weeks from the players, and I would hope that is not asking too much from players.  If you want to post more, then go for it.

I'm not sure what board I would put this under - if there are enough bites for even a game.  It could be Extreme just for the very gory nature of things that could happen.  Or I could even wind up putting it in the light section.  Not sure at the moment. And while naughty moments (re Sex etc etc) could very well happen, it isn't the focal point of the game.

I'm not looking for a huge number of people, but I think for a nice diverse game of possible character concepts, a good handful or more would be awesome.  But I also won't be capping people either, only because I know what it's like to be like "oh hey sweet, game!  Awww it's not accepting new players, sad face".

Oh and before I finally hit post on this...

World Building Thread

It's not finished just yet, but I figured I should pull the trigger.

Thanks guys for taking a look at this, and please - let me know if you're interested.

Sephiriel

Interested. Almost done reading the first book so not very knowledgeable on the current timeline (no spoilers pls!) but comfortable enough with the setting.

There MIGHT be spoilers though >.< I could keep them to a minimal, as it could be something glossed over.. but the impact of said books on said world could be a bit of a problem.

Might be interested

Awesome!  What can I do to help you pull that trigger? :D

Looks awesome Rebs!

Thank you Codexa!

Okay so we have a little bit of interest, and that's completely all right with me.

I did want to add that I have a character sheet in the works, so no worries on that one.

Real Face Claims (no anime/cartoons etc) would be ideal due to the nature of the game, graphically changed (i.e. for demon marks/fae marks) would be all right.

And of course everyone is welcome.

I'm going to work some more on setting today as I am off.

If ANYONE who has peeked in and not posted - but has questions, please don't hesitate to post here/pm me :)

I'm just worried cuz as much as I love the Shadowhunters show, I've not touched the books at all and haven't even finished the first season so I wouldn't want to have to drag my character along.  More information about the world and anything that might need to be known would be very helpful

Absolutely, I do have a lot of info in the world building link I posted.  Which would perhaps be helpful?  I'd never just drag someone blindly.  I love the world that it's set in as well and then some.  If you want to take a peek at the world building thread and then let me know if you need more info, I will do so - after all I am making this for those who are intrigued by the setting but don't know the fandom as well :)

Hey, is this still open/a thing? :)

Hi there!

Thanks for poking your head in.

Unfortunately - I don't think there was enough interest, and then holidays and life and blah and it just kind of.. didn't... happen.

I wish it had though, but also kind of my fault for not keeping up with it =/

You working on anything new Rebelle?

Well Season 3 is about to hit in March I believe...

I would love to see something done with this as that was a lot of typing not gonna lie >.<

Codexa

Season 3!!!!

I need to finish the end of 2 tho.  ::)

TheHighwayHitman

I would be interested if it wasn't a really fast moving game and there was help with a newb. My only real experience with Shadowrun is the PC games where I only play as a Street Samurai and usually an Ork. Is that okay?

.

Well I could very easily write up a couple of girls for this.  One has to be a mage maybe the other a hunter.

Awesome.

I think I am going to settle in tomorrow after errands and re-tool some of this, I might make it a bit more small and.. I don't want to say intimate but.. a bit more.. easily handled would be a good word for it, and see what I come up with.  I don't know if all factions and downworlders will be allowed - but I am going to work on this some and see what shakes out :)

Thanks for your interest Crash :D

Hey HH -

It's Shadowhunters, not Shadowrun, two totally different beasts of high fantasy meets modern days.  If you'd be interested, I do have a link in the first post about the setting and the premise itself.. It's a lot to go through but it could definitely give you an idea of what the premise is.. and if you'r still interested or have questions, I can happily answer them.
