Hehe! All those pics look great, I can't even choose! But I know you'll come up with a fascinating character or three!

Quote from: indarkestknight on May 03, 2025, 08:35:40 PMWhile we're starting at level one, for purposes of long-term build planning, will the free archetype variant rule be in effect?

For champions/clerics, do they need to pick one of the (dead) gods and use their domains/associated skills/favored weapon, or can they freely mix and match?

How recently did the gods die, as far as the PCs know?
This rule is mainly for groups who share the same backstory/class such as pirates or students attending a magic school. Since players each will be different in this game, there is no need for the free archetype variant rule.

Champions/clerics do not need to pick a god, but are welcome to use them as a template! There's just no god left to pray to.

If mixing/matching, you will need to choose:
- 3 to 4 Areas of Concern (matching 4 Domains) unless it's magic, then in that case it must be only the Area of Concern
- 3 Edicts, must honor the Areas of Concern/Domains
- 3 Anathemas
- 2 Divine Attributes
- 3 Spells: Discuss with me! It must fit the Areas of Concern/Domains (This doesn't include Focus spells) unless magic is the Area of Concern, then use the 9 Spells listed under the deity Nethys.
- 1 Divine Font, either harm or heal
- 1 Divine Sanctification, unholy, holy, or none (can't choose holy if Font is harm)
- 1 Divine Skill, it must fit the Areas of Concern/Domains.
- 4 Domains (matching 4 Areas of Concern)
- 1 Favored Weapon

If they commit an Anathema, all that are on the list will be locked and inaccessible for an indefinite time period. If this happens, you would need to come up with an entirely different list of unchosen traits.

The gods - even the undead one - perished three years ago during winter; people realized this once multiple places and divine objects had shattered and rendered useless, and champions/clerics realized this when they no longer heard their voices or seen them again. All the gods' former activities that interfered with human affairs for an age immediately ceased. The past 3 years had been quiet and the least eventful.

Yes, a little something to explain the unfair life that forced your character to consider applying to the Pathfinder Society.

Is it sheets time now or only interest?

Nods- on it boss!

Appreciate the thorough answers, thank you.

So for backstory purposes, it wouldn't make sense for someone to have lost a loved one as the healing magic of a cleric failed, or to have watched as a champion died from having lost their divine protection at a critical moment?

Sure it would make sense, that direct connection was severed, and afterwards champions/clerics would have to tap that divinity again via faith in a different way.
