What if you could live your life all over again, knowing what you knew, but making different choices? Wouldn’t it be wonderful? Wouldn’t it be great?

Your best friend makes a wish, so you could be her best friend growing up. Or the love of your life, on the night of her marriage to another man, wishes she met you earlier in life. Or your sweet niece wishes her favourite uncle could’ve been there by her side when she was growing up…

In the morning, you wake up, young again, back in the past, and you’re a kid again; somehow the wish worked. But what you see in the mirror is another shock; your school uniform includes a skirt, not shorts.

You didn’t wake up as a man, not even a young boy; you woke up as a girl. Of course, this makes sense — little girls generally are best friends with other little girls. Not that the wish minded that you were a man before; oh, no. There’ll be many more years before you can undo the wish, and you’re stuck living and growing up again.

You’re going to go through puberty again, as a girl; growing breasts, filling out hips, having to buy new clothes and go bra-shopping. You’re going to attend years and years of ballet, dance, and cheerleading classes. You’ll have to sit with your legs together and learn walk in heels and fuss with hair and nails and makeup. How much of you will be left after a (second) lifetime) living as a girl?

This time, you’re growing up girly.



What Inspired Me?

I really like TG transformations, but a lot of the transformations focus on what’s happened to the outside. Having to grow up as a girl would change a lot of the inside as well. I fully admit this also includes some feminine experiences I like to write about, including shopping for your first bra, slowly feeling your body rebel and change, despite your wishes, filling out into curves (and growing a pair of breasts).

There’s also the ‘best friend’/‘sister’ dynamic that I quite liked; if you were your girlfriend/niece’s best friend as a girl, how would you two grow up together? Maybe your girlfriend would make you the girly girl, and she’d adopt the tomboy role. Maybe your niece (now your older sister) would use her authority to mould you into a feminine princess. This would also change the dynamics and relationship.

Some story inspirations:

• (Manga) “I’ll never be my childhood best friend’s lover” by tsf no f. Two boys find an magic idol and make a wish; one of them wishes for his perfect girlfriend who was his childhood best friend. The other boy wakes up many years ago and a girl. The story follows her as she slowly grows up and develops into the perfect girlfriend (and develops her friend’s idealised body) until they finally find the idol again.
• (Manga) “TS Life Re-Live Machine” by Amulai. A scientist takes pity on his friend, who is depressed and suffering at his job. He offers the friend a chance to step into a “Life Re-Living Machine”, which should let him re-live his life all over again. Somehow she wakes up a girl, approaching her new life with enthusiasm and delight and exits the machine the perfect girlfriend of the scientist man.
• (FM) A scientist girlfriend builds a machine that regresses her boyfriend into a kid. On a whim, she pretends he’s her niece, and then gets inspired to see if giving him female hormones would affect his development. A fantastic premise that I still remember from reading the very promising first chapter many years ago, that sadly never got a second chapter. Here’s the relevant bit of the description:

When Danny is mistaken for Denise's daughter at 8 yearss old, Denise decides to discipline Danny by dressing him appropriately as a girl. Danny's wisecrack that she'll have to give in when he starts going through puberty gives Denise an idea about doing another experiment unbeknownst to Danny. She decides to test how the introduction of female hormones will react with Danny's rapidly aging body. Danny goes through puberty much differently than he remembers from growing up!!!
