History
As a Ranger, in the army, Elko’s job was to scout ahead of the force to track and determine what dangers might befall the force. He excelled at moving unseen, using the environment to his advantage and then reporting back to his superiors. He joined the army of his own free will but when his superiors began to have him hunt down deserters instead of scouting, Elko decided it was time to leave.

After he left the army, Elko lived on the fringe of civilization and stood as a steadfast protector of the villages near him. He would patrol the frontier, safeguarding the settlers from the dangers of the wild and mediating between civilization and the untamed natural world.

Elko came to Silver Blossom because he had been tracking a group of orc raiders through the Ice Fang Mountains. He finished off the last orc at the base of the mountains and went to Silver Blossom to rest and replenish his supplies before going out again to patrol.

Lady Serenya Valmorra had once been a queen of power and renown. Her husband, the king, had risen to sit upon the throne largely through her influence, her cunning, and her body. Serenya knew the secret corridors of courtly power were not paved with swords and treaties alone; but thay they were lined with whispered promises, sheets tangled in pleasure, and debts owed for indulgences.

She had been beautiful in her youth and remained alluring well into her forties, her features sharpened by intellect and her bearing commanding respect. Over two decades at court, she gave herself to lords, ambassadors, foreign envoys, and ambitious courtiers. It was not love she offered, but opportunity.  Each tryst was a thread in the web she wove for her kingdom’s prosperity. By her own estimate, she had bedded hundreds, perhaps thousands, of men and women alike in pursuit of influence. It was her gift, her weapon, and the burden she bore for her kingdom’s ascent.

Yet such a gift bred envy and whispers grew.  When the king, his eyes set on a younger bride who might give him heirs more pliant than Serenya’s children, tired of her, the accusations followed. Treason. Infidelity. Conspiracy against the crown. All were lies, but in court lies repeated by enough voices drown out truth. The king condemned her, and the guards came to take her in chains, and they would have been successful if not for the courage of a solitary member of her imperial guard, a young knight sworn to protect her.

Now Lady Serenya has arrived in the town of Silver Blossom, far from the kingdom that exiled her, in search of a new life.

Among the guards of House Valmorra was Alric Dane, barely eighteen when her troubles began. Alric had grown up in the shadow of Serenya’s legend. As a boy of squire’s rank, he had watched her pass in the courtyards and ballrooms — radiant, untouchable, yet kind enough to spare a smile or word for the young. He idolized her as one might a goddess: beautiful, clever, impossible to reach.

But as he grew older, those boyish dreams took on sharper edges. He saw her not only as a queen, but as a woman — the subject of fantasies whispered in the barracks, imagined in lonely hours. Alric remained chaste, too green to know love’s weight, but in his heart he carried a fire for Serenya that no drill, no prayer, no duty could extinguish.

When whispers of treason spread, Alric did not believe them for an instant. His queen — his lady — could never betray her people. That conviction, mingled with his secret longing, bound him to her more fiercely than any oath.  When the order cane to arrest Queen Valmorra, Alric stood between the guards and his queen with his shield raised and his blade ready.

Now, having helped Lady Serenya escape with her life, he arrived in the town of Silver Blossom alongside her, still loyal in his duties and his oath
