Shadowrun 5, Simrigs and BTLs (NC/EX)

This is a game I would like to run using the Shadowrun 5th Edition rules.  I am looking for a small number of female characters (I don't care what the player is).  It will include non-consensual scenes.

I recently played, and was somewhat disappointed by, Cyberpunk 2077.  However it has made me want to try and get back into the Cyberpunk genre, specifically Shadowrun, as well as to focus a story on braindances/BTLs. 

I am heavily leaning towards requiring that all characters have a (deltaware) simrig and a cranial bomb.  The exact reason and method for said bomb is open though, and I’ve included a few ideas below:

Character Ideas

The character is an up and coming actress who signed with the wrong agent.  The simrig and cranial bomb are to ensure they don’t violate their contract.

The character is part of a quasi-runner team that specializes in infiltration tests.  The simrig is to record the infiltration so security holes can be catalogued, the cranial bomb is to ensure they don’t sell the data or turn against their employer.

The character is a ‘scout/spy’ for a runner team who uses a simrig to record information as they go undercover.  The cranial bomb is to ensure they stay in line.

The character is a runner who was part of a (very badly) failed run.  The simrig and cranial bomb were forced on her as punishment until she pays off her debt.

The character is a non-runner who has been blackmailed or otherwise forced to assist in a run.  The simrig is to record information, the cranial bomb is to keep them in line. 

A different idea that fits the concept.

In all cases the character would be working for the owner of a prominent night club, a hotel, and a few other businesses who lives in Seattle.  I am envisioning him as someone who has his finger in being an entertainment agent as well as a fixer/Mr.Johnson for runners.  The characters would all be in his stable/employ due to a connection to one of his businesses, or having worked for him as a runner.  That said I see him as being rather abusive to those who work for him hence the cranial bombs.

I lean towards a larger number of shorter missions, probably with the characters mixing and matching into sub-groups or even going solo.  The missions would be traditional runner stuff, stuff connected to their qualities and background, and probably more perverted stuff as they are forced to degrade and debase themselves.

The BTL/simsense stuff that I would like to include would come in either as inspiration for a run, or as a way to achieve a goal in a run.  A starlet could be sent to entertain some high rollers with the recording of the event meant as blackmail material.  A runner could be sent to intentionally fail a run with the goal being for her to record defences and similar.  That sort of thing.

I am would be happy to discuss characters, smut, and plots that people desire.  I want to tailor the plots, both for individual runs and overall, to characters and players.  So the more discussion the better. 

I don't have a specific quantity of smut in mind, it would depend entirely on the mission and character, but I do want to include a fair bit.  That might mean a little bit in multiple scenes, or it may mean entire scenes focused on smut.  Of course, there could also be entire missions without smut.  So players should be fine with any amount from none to oodles (at least for the short term, which for online games usually is measured in months). 



I really like to GM, but honestly I tend to hate GMing online.  So I am including a bit of bitchiness right up front in relation to expectations and rules.

Requirements

• I am looking for a minimum of one post a week, and preferably more than that.  I am fine if said post is in OOC saying you can’t post, but you need to acknowledge the game.  I feel this is only fair as one person not posting can ruin the enjoyment for the entire group.  I hate removing people from games, but will be trying to be harsher in doing so when people repeatedly fail to post.
• The game will include non-consensual smut at a minimum.  That means penetrative sex, involving male NPCs/villains, that happens against your character’s will (up to and including using force to restrain your character).
• Tell me what you want out of the game in terms of smut and in terms of plot.  The more detail the better!  This includes after the game is already going!
• Rolls must be done with the dicebot here, characters must be stored in a post here and not linked on a third party website.

As a caveat to 1, I understand life happens!  If you mention in OOC you can’t post, or if you send me a PM, or if you post in an apology/absence thread linked in your signature, I am more than happy to work with you!  But I am tired of people never posting, usually with the excuse that they are waiting for someone else to post, then everyone coming out of the woodwork to claim they are still interested when I move to end the game or to remove people.

To expand on 2.  I am happy to include lighter content.  I am happy to include extreme(er?) content.  I am happy to discuss most any content and try to include it!  But you have to at least be willing and interested in non-consensual content involving your character due to my own ons and offs.  Unfortunately I also have ons and offs and I feel that is reasonable, even if past experience shows that plenty of people don't agree.

To expand on 3.  I can work with hooks and plots and requests!  I’m happy to!  The point is for us all to have fun!  Not for me to bash my head against the wall when it turns out no one is actually interested in the game I pitched, but just wanted to play in whatever system it is using.  Also, I make mistakes, I don't think of things, I miss the obvious, I make boring plots.  I can't promise I'll be able to fix it, but at the same time if I don't know I've made a mistake or it is boring I can't fix it!

To expand on 4.  I don't know why people cheat in online games, especially of this type, but it has happened enough that I want to keep things centralized.

You must have access to Shadowrun 5th Edition.  I don't mind helping, and I am sure other people would be happy to help, but I am not up for managing all the mechanics for you. 

Characters
I am only looking for characters that are women.  Sorry.  I don't feel like I can offer much/any smut to male characters, and futanari and similar aren't really my thing either.  That said, I don't care what the player is.  I might, emphasis on might, allow a male character who is a bit villainous (preying on others as part of missions instead of being preyed on) or whose player is fine with no smut, but it is definitely a might.

Standard character generation, though sum to ten is allowed. 



Recruitment
I don't have a specific number of characters in mind, though lean towards only a few over a larger number.  That said I am not doing first come first served, and I won't necessarily accept all submissions.  I hate to reject people, but I've been burned too many times. 

So, if you're interested and if I haven't scared you off, please post a character concept that is a couple of paragraphs long.  I would also like a paragraph or two on what you would like out of the game in terms of plot and smut, especially as it relates to your character.  It could be specific plots or general ideas, I'm fine with both!

I don't need, and honestly would prefer not to have, full character sheets at this point.

Not sure about joining myself, the coercion and required cyberware cut into all the mage concepts, wrangling notions for other sorts.

One thing did jump out at me.  If everyone has a Simrig AND an implanted commlink (Which I believe would be mandatory... the sim rig requires a sim module, and that's built into an implanted com link), they could transmit their sensory experiences to each other, even "jumping in" to feel what someone else is experiencing as it happens.  That'd create a lot of interesting roleplaying possibilities.

I forgot magic loss from essence rounded up.  I am fine handwaving away the essence loss from the simrig/comlink as it relates to the magic attribute.  That leaves the coercion angle, but that is somewhat baked into the general game concept.

Severe bugs and missing features.  I feel like they were intentionally misleading in their marketing and malicious in their manipulation of reviews.  I don't feel the game is what they claimed it was through their own marketing.  The world is fine, and I might have liked it if I hadn't watched Night City Wire, but it felt like pretty much everything they highlighted as being in the game was superficial or absent.

Nothing immediately nixed that comes to mind, though there might be one or two things.  Dwarfs are fine.  Changelings may be fine depending on what you had in mind.

I think it might be a negative comment on the current set of owners for SR. Or at least that's my guess.

The statement was a statement?  People can take it negatively if they want but I'm not going to apologize for being opposed to piracy, and I think ever spending money on an online play by post game (that one can't even be sure will get off the ground, let alone last) is a poor choice.  I am not sure how else I was expected to respond other than maybe to ignore the post, which feels rude.

I am fine with a Technomancer, though my own knowledge of the matrix is somewhere between rusty and iffy, so while I am happy to try and include such content I can't promise it will be flawless.  Blank Slate and Flashback System would depend on what you had in mind.  Blank Slate to me sounds like it could be really boring (no room for growth and character development), but at the same time if done right it could be really interesting (playing with different personalities or a new personality).  I am not banning it but don't have an opinion until I know more about the character.  I am not sure what you had in mind for Flashback System, just as an alternative to a simrig?

I've had a love/hate relationship with Shadowrun 5E for a long time; I own many of the books and love the world and the setting to bits, but every time I've tried to play it live, the system and its complexities has bogged down the speed to a crawling pace and sucked all the fun out of our group. I think it might actually work better for me at a forum game pace; at least there'd be plenty of time to catch up on all the relevant rules when needed!

I'm kind of liking the idea of making a young entertainer of some fashion, a trid actress / singer / dancer / all of the above... perhaps someone who comes from a well-to-do corporate family, but has aspirations of making it as a star on her own; which is why she turned to Mr Businessman to get her foot in the industry (or possibly Mr Businessman was the one who saw her potential and persuaded her to take the leap into entertainment). She never envisioned becoming a runner herself, although she probably has always kind of admired shadowrunners in an idealistic and romanticized fashion. Mr Businessman would promote her in his nightclubs and trid films, but also fully intends to use her to support his shadowrunning operations, whether she likes it or not: as bait / distraction / spy / prize for his customers / any other ways he deems necessary...

As far as smuttiness goes, non-con is my fave, and I'd be more than happy to have my character go through as much of that as appropriate.

Character-wise, she'd be something of a face/infiltrator, possibly an adept. I'll definitely need to re-familiarize myself with the rules and mechanics!

The Flashback System is part simrig alternative, since the wireless bonus seems to imply that it can do the exporting with the wireless bonus alone (and is also a simrig when wireless is on), but also to partly counter-act the Blank Slate. The current idea sounds something like this: she's technically still in there, all in that little bit of nano-tech and chrome called the Flashback System. But an 'accident' when the thing was installed means that's literally the only reason she's still in her own skull (other than potential and actual copies of her as a p-fix floating around) and it treats her the same as any p-fix or similarly specialized BTL. Which makes for a strange non-dissociation when she does manage to be back in the driver's seat; the Flashback system feeds all those altered thoughts, emotions, and decisions into the bits that are her but it's too abstract until she's back in control.

Which makes it a perverse incentive to both get back in control and see if she can afford a fix for this and to spend as little time in control as possible so that what does come out is more her than other things. Essentially being the Blank Slate, and possibly setting up for if it gets fixed later on to be not-quite her.

As for the smut for this one I'd be more into playing the dubious nature of her consent, possibly into things like impractical clothing or no clothing, especially because she'd rare say that she's in her right mind. Not that any other hers might disagree or anything. And definitely not that the guy who got to have three marks baked into some of her stuff will throw around his weight on this.

I am not entirely sure I understand what you have in mind if I'm honest (but I am a bit unfocused at the moment so that is probably more me than anything), but she sounds interesting and we can figure things out.  Blank slate and the flashback system are fine.

snowdrop and RSGAlex have given me enough that I am happy to accept their characters.  Most everyone else I am still waiting on a bit more just so I understand what they want to play (unless I missed a post somewhere along the line which is always possible).

If you can summarize the character (or potentially just post their background) and provide a bit about what smut/plot you want for them we can maybe give it a chance.  I am still recruiting, but do prefer to start with a general concept before getting into the crunchy bits of character creation (even if already completed).

I doubt I'd get into character creation before late December or early January, so that's fine.  Right now I am mostly just looking for character concepts.  You mentioned bunraku/doll stuff and maybe a catgirl/demongirl, did you have any other thoughts on the character?  (even if just broad sweeps.  Obviously things may change once people get into the nitty gritty details).

I was thinking this would be the perfect game to have someone with amnesia and make them into a doll/bunraku puppet that runs persona softs to fill certain roles as she goes thru the day. Maybe a changling or simply a meta human bodyscupted/wiped to be essentially a blank slate at first.

I'd do something like my PC using the background traits method.. I call her Babel but she'd be undoable on the regular methods I imagine..

Based on the timeline I found the game should take place in 2072? With Halley's Comet 11 years before at 2061 so plenty of time for a SURGE Changeling to grow up.

Li'l miss (name pending as I suck at them) was born to a pair of corp wageslaves and lived a fairly normal corp brat life. Raised by the robo-nanny, attended corp approved schools, and turned into a horrible monster when Halley's Comet passed by. The nannybot alerted her parents, her parents panicked/were horrified, and she was dumped off in the sprawl. While dealing with having been abandoned and the changes to her body she's picked up by a small gang looking to use her small size to their advantage gaining access to places. When she was eleven she got to watch two magic users dueling each other and later when she was hidden within one of her bolt holes she managed to blow it up trying to recreate the mages castings. The discovery that she had magic of her own boosted her from shrimp that fit through small windows to something that actually had useful potential. Over the years a fair bit of effort was put in by herself and the gang to gather up spellbooks and scrolls or watch the few fights that happened within the area letting her gather up a variety of magical knowledge and knowhow.  Over time she not only developed a bit of a reputation as a witch of the alleys but she discovered a voice that spoke to her of secrets and shadows, of stalking prey and lazing about. Cat had noticed her or she it. And with the Cat's tutelage she grew even further.

The gang never grew very big, they had their territories and their parties but they were very much small fish in a big pond and a few of them wanted otherwise. They made a deal with another group and talked the rest of the gang into going out of their area to harass a few specific businesses. That was the end of the gang as they weren't a match for the shadowrunners and guards that they ran into, the last thing she saw that night was the spinning world as the stolen car they'd escaped in spun and crashed.

She woke later to a flickering and static filled world as lines code ran across her vision. The crash had taken her eyes and a good part of her right arm as well as leaving her at the mercy of the man whose businesses they'd raided. A debt had been accrued by her gang and the surgery needed to save her life. As she was the only survivor it fell on her to pay it all back with precautions taken should she try getting out of it.




She'd be a lightly (1 essence or so) cybered changeling chaos mage with Cat as a mentor spirit. Mostly uneducated as she'd spent the majority of her life on the streets in a gang.  Appearance wise she'd be small and curvy with a tail and glowing markings at a minimum.

Runs with smut and ones without are both fine by me as they're both fun in different ways.  
Non-Con, forced exhibition, and things like that are quite fun. Although is there actually a market for BD's as the victim and not the abuser? There's all kinds of tastes I guess and it does sound like the simsense recorders mostly to dig up blackmail or blueprint style things instead of selling on the blackmarket.
The big lines drawn on scenes I won't touch involve piss, crap, and erotic torture. Slaps/spanks/stuff like that's fine but rape while skinning them is a tad far for me. Some of the BD folk in Cyberpunk 2077 are nasty fuckers even before you read between the lines.
