@CurvyKitten: I adore the little firecracker. Anyone who knows me knows I have a soft spot for a crazy, psychotic woman who knows how to handle her shit and get it done. We needed a Wild Card, and I love her skill set. Perfect for a Cherry and yet still unique as hell. Thank you for creating her 😍

Thank you so much! I was hoping you'd like her. She popped into my head and refused to be quiet so I had to share the craziness! I shall get her posted and see about getting her ic as soon as possible!

Hawkwood

I'd like to toss my hat into the ring.

I see that the niche that I'd normally occupy (healer / medic) is well and truly occupied. So, I had in mind something in the following terms:

Miller "Archaeologist / Scholar"

That is, someone who's primary objective is reclaiming the tech, hardware, knowledge, culture, and so on of the old world. Does that work?

Vlexia

Yes, medic/healer is definitely covered haha

I think your Miller twist is fantastic. There are many facets to the military lifestyle and for them to maintain their power over their supplies and items they would need someone exactly like you are saying.

We have a Miller open for connections so you can send Jugg a PM if desired, and being so close to Great Kills he could also have connections with any Gambler.

Look forward to your creation 😁

Face Claim:Colin Salmon

Full Name: Cyrus Robinson
Nickname/Alias: Behind his back "the geek", but otherwise, none

Age: 30ish
Hair Color: Bald
Eye Color: Dark
Height: 1m90
Weight: 90kg

Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Faction: Millers

Personality:
Serious and focused on the task at hand, as you'd expect from a Miller. He may have a bad case of "resting bitch face", but actually has an easy and open smile.

Weaponry: A sidearm, but bullets are precious and hard to come by. Weapons that can be made, built, or salvaged are therefore preferable. But at the same time, NOT getting into melee with the infected is also a good plan.
Skills:

  • History / Archaeology: He's as close as you get to an 'expert' on the old world amongst the Millers
  • Technician: Tech is precious; someone needs to know how to keep everything running, keep the lights on.
  • Tinkering: Necessity is the mother of invention
  • Urban Exploration: Picking through the ruins of the old world is dangerous
Connections:

  • Cherries:Chaotic and badly organised. Fortunately for all their prowess with forging and metals, they still need help with the myriad other techno-artefacts run. And trading time for bullets is a useful way of spending an evening.
  • Sheets:There was something admirable about the purity of belief that they practised, but admiration stops at the blind adherence to cold words. They rarely have anything I want, so why risk being subject to a trial?
  • Nailers: They feel like half a faction; food and people, but in need of a strong hand to protect and guide. Had I been born elsewhere, I would probably have been one of them. But who am I kidding, they're all way smarter than me - I'm just a dumb grunt tinkerer
  • Gamblers:My time in their lands is difficult. On the one hand, I value freedom, but on the other, freedom without any constraining duty is chaos. They manage to make the Cherries look well-organised and sensible.
  • Boaters:Kindred spirits in a sense. The rough and ready code of the sea is about getting the job done. Just a shame they insist on all the boat-based shenanigans; I hate boats - they make me sea-sick. Which means I only ever go aboard at places like Fort Worth where they need something fixed.
  • Millers:Family is family, right or wrong. I find some of our rules constraining, but they're passed down from the top, and the top are the best at what they do. Given my technical aptitude, I should really be higher ranked than I am. But that'd mean I'd not be allowed out of the stockade. I'm therefore happy to be where I am, doing what I do.

Auggie: We've found ourselves in the same ruins from time to time. Handy to have someone to hide behind when the shit hits the fan. Good talks about such Old World classics as "Big Brother", "Jersey Shore", and what "Netflix and Chill" might actually have meant.

Backstory:
The records of the Fall aren't exactly clear anymore, but Grandpa Robinson was serving at Camp Miller; one of the people tasked with keeping the peace and protecting people. The skills that he once used to maintain armoured fighting vehicles, build bridges, and so in foreign wars became vital to keep home and family safe. It was his example that inspired first his daughter, and then his grandson to take up the unglamorous mantle of keeping the lights on.

When something is broken, it can't easily be replaced anymore so it needs to be fixed - a toy, a generator, a gun; they can all benefit from the careful attention of skilled hands. Learning from his mother, and from the stories his grandfather told him, he developed a fondness for the relics and stories of that time. He is perhaps not a natural fit amongst the Millers given their structure and history, but he regards Camp Miller and its people as his home and his family.

Much of what wasn't immediately practical has been lost; not just in terms of gear but also culture and history - Cyrus aims to recover it. The light of civilisation may burn faintly, but it still burns, and Cyrus aims to keep it that way.[/list]

@Hawkwood: A tactical mechanic is exactly what we are missing and you provided him in this. Just as a small precaution I am heavily controlling the amount of bullets non-Cherries get. Millers are military surplus suppliers so your man can have the gun but you’ll have to constantly Rp getting bullets and such. I would only recommend you arm him with other items as well.

Other than that I love him 🤗

@Hawkwood,

Cyrus and Auggie may have some good connections due to their love of the past.  Auggie has a huge book collection.  Back in cherry territory his little gun warehouse is also littered with books shelves of different books.  Anytime he's out in the unclaimed territories, he always searches for literature of some sort.
“The Doctor: This is bad, I don't like this. [kicks console and yells in pain] Never use force, you just embarrass yourself. Unless you're cross, in which case... always use force!
Amy: Shall I run and get the manual?
The Doctor: I threw it in a supernova.
Amy: You threw the manual in a supernova? Why?
The Doctor: Because I disagreed with it! Now stop talking to me when I'm cross!”

Before I think more about connections and other-faction attitudes, how hard / deep / cold are the divisions between factions?

I can easily imagine Cyrus trading his skills with anyone with a pulse for food / shelter / leads. The only people he'd unquestioningly help would be other Millers.

As a whole they are very closed off and strict against the other. They aren’t “enemies” but they aren’t exactly “allies” either. There’s that mutual respect for each other because everyone has that one thing that everyone else needs, but the characters themselves can run with this as they please. In your Connections you can state how your man views each faction personally, and you’d be right that a Miller would be particularly closed against others getting information he has explored himself.

Hawkwood

There. Updated with connections and revised according to advice.

Cyrus is not a combatant.
