I saw vampires get mentioned somewhere, is that a mutation? Or a different species entirely? I'm always down for a vampires character

It's a mutation. We call them vampires but they're just other mutants. It more of a faction name born from a general classification of mutants who siphon off of others, be that blood, plasma, energy, what have you. Benazir, who identifies as a succubus technically qualifies as a vampire in the eyes of the general public. And it's the same for other abilities/curses. The newspapers dumb things down for the plebs and so Geomancers like Ava are referred to as Witches even though she much prefers to consider herself a Druid if she's to wear a label. Same thing with shifters being thrown in with werewolves and those with disolidification, phasing, teleportation or invisibility powers are probably grouped under ghosts or something.

This RP is all about human and humans who have mutated in some manner. There's not outright magic or supernatural species.

@FlowerMagnolia

This is a recurring question that keeps throwing people off. I recommend addressing this in the description post.

TeamToaster

Thanks for clearing it up. I might PM Flower to go over a couple of things because I like the idea of playing a character like that.

Looking at your post history you seem like a good writer. I hope you can find something here for you.

TeamToaster

Oh I didn't realize you could do that on here and thank you! I'm really interested in making a character for this, my last game recently ended and I've been looking for a new one to jump into.

I would like to ask for a little help. I made the bio, but it doesn't really include the personality part and I would like zo have a solution for it.

First, you need to have in mind what the general path is you want to go with him. Guessing from his bio, that he rescued someone already shows that he is kind and acts on instinct. Further than this, you explained that he just wanted a normal life. So what is the thriving for in life? Is he determined, shy or open-minded? Does his mutation even change his character traits?

To add to that, you should also consider what you want play and also what you comfortable can play. If you're not that well versed and think you will struggle with the nuances of portraying a specific personality in a convincing manner then it's advised to pick something a little closer to home. Perhaps take a look at yourself and try to describe yourself in 3-4  broach terms, then take 1-2 of those as the central theme for your character and add some others that fit with his upbringing/backstory.

Well, I want to have a mostly peaceful run with him, making him capable of meeting others easily and being open-minded. I planned his mutation to be something that would pressure him doing something that he does not want to do (in his case this means eating people).

Do they have to be alive? Do they have to be people specifically? Is there a reason he needs to eat human flesh/brains? Remember, he's a mutated human and not just a horror trope so I think she should be reason for his strange diet even if it's a fantastical one.

No, they mustn't be alive, and they must not be people. But here Vampire is a faction of mutated people who have to consume blood/plasma/life energy/anything else, just like the mythical vampires/specific types of demons/any other creature. And I made him to be a mutant based on the zombies. And I planned him to get im the "Vampire" category

I don't believe we're looking for anything specific. It's a sandbox RP so whatever you wanna play that fits with the setting should be good. It's then a matter of setting up scenes with some/all of the other players.

I can't speak in the name of the owner or the mods or the other people here, but any kind of person is accepted, but there aren't much SMU members tho

Are there any characters looking to plot then? I prefer to play women, so if someone is looking for a story or someone to write with, they could let me know. That might influence my character creation. :)

If you want, you can just create a character and see how she fits in. I don't think anyone can say if they need a relationship with a female character. But, we do indeed need SMU members, or slaves held in the SMU submarine.

I could do a slave. Or a SMU anthropologist who wants to try and help mediate things...but maybe ends up realizing she’s out of her depth.

I'd recommend having a look at the Accepted Characters Thread to see what's already in play. Might give you some inspiration too or perhaps motivate you to seek out scenes with some of them.

That’s one of the first things I do when I consider a game. Lol. I haven’t read all the bios, but I did a decent scan before ever posting.

Evelyn Branitch

Non-Mutant/ Mutant: Mutant
When Mutant, which creature; when Non-Mutant, which position in SMU: Vampire
Age: Appears late 20's
Extra Powers?:

Vampirism: As someone who falls quite soundly into the mutant class of Vampire, Evelyn lives and thrives off the blood of humans. So long as she remains fed, Evelyn enjoys heightened senses, enhanced physical abilities and a minimal aging.

Addictive Blood: Evelyn while needing the blood of others has highly addictive blood herself. If any human ingests her blood they will crave more until it has all cycled out of their systems. While they are under the effect of this blood craving, they are highly receptive to Evelyn and anything she has to say, bordering on mind control. However, depending on the willpower of the one who ingested the blood, results may vary. Mutants ingesting this blood will feel similar effects though with much wilder degrees of severity. They may also find that their mutations grow stronger or weaker.

Blood Memories: It is said that all things are stored in the blood and for Evelyn is is doubly so. When she ingests blood she gains the information the donor may reveal in a casual conversation with an acquaintance. A name, age and where they were born are the most common. Repeated feedings will grant her more insight into that person and occasionally a brief vision of their future or past. These are rarely clear, often bizarre flashes of colors or metaphoric depictions far from anything in reality.

Weaknesses:

Blood Reliance: Evelyn must feed at least once every 24 hours on fresh blood. Not doing so will see her quickly deteriorate and all her abilities would suffer. If she goes any more than 10 days without feeding her body would waste away.

Sunlight: Evelyn's enhanced senses are often a double edged sword. Her eyesight while perfectly suited for night time excursions is too sensitive for the sunlight hours to the point of being painful and nearly blinding. Her skin also blisters and burns when directly exposed for to long at a time. Any damage done to her that uses sunlight or other similar energy burns her, dramatically weakening her and her abilities.

Mental Attacks: Attacks on her person using mental abilities can have a crippling effect. Her ability to learn from blood has left her mind dangerously open to mental attacks that can paralyze or induce torpor within her depending on the severity and whether or not she had any warning regarding the attack. While under attack in this way, she has no way to fight back, though for the trouble she may glean some insight into her attacker. If she survives that is. If the attack is severe enough, her body will shut down in an effort to save itself and induce torpor, in which case she will be in a death like state, unable to react to anything. The only way to bring her out of this is to feed her blood and usually large amounts of it.

Gender: Female
Sexuality: Pansexual
Position/ Place: The Island
Face Claim: Victoria Beyer
Ons/ Offs: Your Ons/ Offs
Writer: TeamToaster
Personality and Backstory:

Evelyn wasn't one of the first mutants to be born in the new mutant age, but she was close.

She was born in England to a loving family, and subsequently was one of the first mutants discovered outside of the US. When her mutation first began to rear its head, she was around 3 years old. At first her parents didn't know what to think. Her body temperature changed, dropping sharply and she had always been a picky eater. However when she began to retch up what food they had managed to get her to eat and her body began to waste away, they knew something was very wrong. When the first mention of 'vampire' as a class of mutant appeared after that... rather nasty incident... Evelyn's parents out of desperation tried blood.

It worked.

They had their daughter back to her usual bright self. However now that mutants were being looked at with such fear, there was another problem. They hid her mutation away from the world. Evelyn's mother, a doctor, was able to feed her through blood stolen from the hospital. They were able to avoid the mandatory testing for children as Evelyn grew, thankfully avoiding it by a few years. When her mutation began developing again, bringing out its true abilities and weaknesses, it added another layer of difficulties. To Evelyn's dismay she was pulled out of school - something she loved - and home schooled by her father while her mother worked. The whole family took up a nocturnal life style to adapt and they once again managed to find a way to live a relatively peaceful and undisturbed life.

Evelyn grew up to be an inquisitive, and friendly woman with a deep love of History both modern and Classical. This is partially due to her ability to glean snippets of a persons life through their blood. She went on to study both subjects and to pacify her mother even dabbled in studies around the human body and mind. Her home reflected her personality, fulled with things and curiosities that she collected, along with dozen upon dozens of books, old and new. In central London, Evelyn had carved out her own little safe haven. It was solitary at times, but she was happy.

Though all good things must end, as they always say.

Eventually the 'mutant' problem reached its head and with mutants finally being discovered around the world, she was at greater risk. Evelyn, now looking back on it, had grown careless in keeping her secret hidden. She had spent all her years in relative safety being in the heart of London, so many people and crowds to disappear into. It was a night just like all the others when she was finally discovered. She had slipped a gentleman some of her blood and had taken him into an alley to feed. However, she hadn't noticed that he wasn't as inebriated as she had thought so when it came to doing the deed he fought back. In her panic to try and silence him, she killed him instead. His neck snapped like a twig. If that wasn't bad enough, his yells had drawn attention and it was only moments later that a crowd had formed and the SMU was brought in. Evelyn fought them, desperately, but it wasn't enough. They locked her up and took her away to the Island. She never had the chance to speak to her family before she left, she still doesn't know if anything happened to them either.

Arriving at the island, she was not the same woman she used to be. She was quite, withdrawn and her friendly nature had all seemed to have been left in England. She was taken in, looked after and shown great kindness and slowly, ever so slowly her old personality came back. In truth it was the children at the school who helped her the most. Evelyn has always wanted to be a teacher but of cause her mutation prevented it. Now she had a chance to take that opportunity again and take it she did.

When the war began between the Vampires and the Druids on the island, Evelyn had thrown in her lot with the Druids. She didn't intend to pick a side but when it came to defending the children she was ruthless. She surprised many island inhabitants that day, including herself with her willingness for violence and manipulation. Even now that the war is over there are wary looks from many because of what she is and what they saw during those days.

Evelyn hopes that one day she can return to her quiet life, but for now she is as happy as she can be here on the Island.
