Hey guys, Just to let you know the former Avengers, Xmen and Fantastic Four are all presumed to be dead after fighting Thanos. The surviving heroes are going to be mourning them and feeling a tad guilty.

Description (Appearance): Kevin stands 6 feet tall and has an athletic build and a handsome face, framed by short, soft brown hair, his eyes a deep brown.  (Costume is pictured)

Powers: Nexus is an amalgamation of human and alien physiology, although what species of alien is unknown.  This has resulted in his body essentially becoming an energy battery; at any moment he is absorbing small amounts of various energies from his environment.  This process is largely involuntary, though given the right circumstances, he is capable of voluntarily absorbing large quantities of energy.  He is able to convert this energy within his body for various uses, the most notable being the ability to project it as blasts of high intensity concussive force capable of punching a sizable hole in a tank.  The effective range of these blasts is up to 2,000 feet, provided he can see his target.  He is immune to the direct effects of the energy he generates; ie he couldn't accidentally blast himself.  Other ways he has learned to harness this energy include:

Charging his fists with explosive energy, greatly increasing the damage of his hand to hand attacks.

Absorbing energy attacks that he is aware of and able to react in time to increase the power of his inherent energy blasts.

Gathering up all his power at once, releasing it as a devastating omnidirectional blast that he calls his Nova Blast.  After using it, Nexus is exhausted for several minutes.

Manipulate the gravitrons around his body to carry a negative charge, partially negating the effect of Earth's gravity around him.  He can then manipulate his inherent energy to propel him at relatively high speeds.  His top speed is about 300 mph at this time.

Create a personal force field around himself that gives him some measure of protection from physical and energy attacks. 

Special Skills and Other:

Competent Fighter: As the son of a police officer, Kevin learned how to fight well enough to handle himself from a fairly young age.  As a superhero he's gotten more experience with folks who can fight more effectively than drunks in bar fights.

Marksman: Kevin has gotten good at aiming with his energy blasts.  Practicing his accuracy every day, he has sniper-like precision, especially when he has time to properly aim.

Willpower: Kevin has a natural will to him and a strong sense of right and wrong.

Aerial Maneuverability: Kevin has gotten quite nimble while flying, and uses this agility to his advantage when fighting villains.

Noble Heart: Kevin is selfless and genuinely cares about the well being of those around him.  He was born to be a hero.

Equipment:

Just his costume. 

History: Kevin was the son the of a police officer in Seattle, Washington.  Growing up the son of a cop had it's perks; he learned to fight at a young age to defend himself and he had a dad who was quite the role model to look up to.  He attended high school and had a girlfriend, Hannah who he was going to go to prom with. 

On a back road with no one else around, his car was suddenly rocked by an explosion, sending it flipping over and over, and flinging Hannah through the windshield and onto the pavement.  She was still alive though, Kevin realized as he winced through the pain of a broken arm and shattered legs and tried to crawl out to go to her.  He watched in horror through a bloody haze as a hideous creature, ten feet tall with blotchy grey skin and an enormous maw of razor sharp teeth emerged from the crater caused by the explosion.  It chortled and spoke in an alien tongue, before swiftly moving to the wounded Hannah, snatching her up.  Kevin screamed through blood and tears, unable to move as he was forced to helplessly watch it devour the girl he loved... a memory forever etched into his nightmares.  He gritted his teeth as the creature grinned wickedly and strode toward him.  It was clear that this was not a creature born of animal hunting instinct; this was a sentient creature who took malevolent pleasure from killing.  I'm sorry, Hannah, he thought as the creature reached for him.

Just as he thought his life was over, the air was filled with the sounds of high powered energy blasts... heroes, he thought, looking up.  It was not heroes that he saw, however.  Instead, he saw a group of six three fingered humanoids in strange silver garb, each assailing the creature with blasts of high intensity energy.  The creature fought savagely, but but was quickly overwhelmed and all that remained was a charred husk.  The creatures stood around the remains of the monster, nodding, before looking to Kevin.  They began conversing in an alien tongue, and finally one of them kneeled over him beside his wrecked car and placed a hand on his brow.  "Yttfihjrolnas'ctimonyagr"... it spoke to him.  Kevin shook his head, confused and weak.  It spoke again, it's words somehow trailing into something that Kevin could understand.  "Stgjowak'at'rry for your loss.  This criminal we have been cashing for some time now.  He will never hurt anyone again.  You are dying, Terran.  While we cannot bring your mate back, we can save your life, as well as gift you and your world with something great".  Kevin merely closed his eyes.  He couldn't think.  He felt apathy and guilt.  If only there had been something that he could have done.  The alien passed his hand over Kevin's eyes and he blacked out.

When he woke, the pain of his injuries was gone.  He looked around and saw that he still lay at the scene of the attack.  The crater was still there, but the dead creature and the silver garbed aliens were gone.  Elizabeth's body lay nearby, mangled but in one piece.  He scrambled over to her side and wept, even as the words of the alien resounded in his mind.  "Kevin Spencer of Terra, your genetics have been combined with our own in order to save the life that was quickly slipping away.  You will find that you possess many abilities that most of your race does not have.  We have searched your heart and in our judgement we find you among the most noble of your species.  The power that we have imparted in you is yours to use, so follow your heart.  I know you will use it wisely.  Farewell.  Kevin heard the words, but at the time was focused only on the immense pain wracking his noble heart.

After the service for Hannah, he was debriefed by SHIELD, who obviously had a vested interest in any kind of alien activity.  They put him in touch with some folks who knew a thing or two about teaching people to use their powers, and he learned.  He learned with all his being, because he swore that he would never allow anything like that to happen to anyone again.  At 20 years old, he set out on his own in Seattle to protect the area from criminals and super villains.  He became well known in the Pacific Northwest as Nexus, and for the last four years he has been looking after his hometown.  It took time, but the pain in his heart lessened.  He will never forget what happened to Hannah, but it drives him to this day.

Weaknesses: For whatever reason, cold is far more effective against him than it is against others.  Likely some aspect of the merging of his and the alien DNA.

Description (Appearance): Alison is a strawberry blonde standing about 5'8" with a toned and fit body.  Her strawberry blonde hair is long, wavy and hangs down to her mid-back. She usually has a smile on her face and her eyes are a sky blue.  Her breasts were full, firm, and large, she usually wore tops that emphasized her bosom either by being tight or exposing lots of cleavage.

Powers:

Sound Conversion: She has the ability to transduce sonic vibrations which reach her body into various types of light. This ability seems to operate over a great range of frequencies, including the audible spectrum (35 to 16,500 cycles per second), and a great variation of sound pressure levels regardless of the complexity, dissonance, or randomness of the sound. For example, a car crash and a symphonic passage of equal duration will both produce usable music incoming acoustic vibrations. Dazzler, however, does prefer the sound of music, particularly that which is rhythmically sustained. Not only is music more pleasant to her ears, but the steady beat of popular music provides a more constant source of sound to convert. However, she cannot use any sound produced by her own body. Despite the limits of her sound conversion ability being unknown, she was capable of absorbing unimaginable sounds, including the explosion of an entire galaxy, to boost her to sufficient levels when exposed by Galactus to travel into a black hole on its behalf. She could also demonstrated she could absorb the sonic waves of Black Bolt's devastating voice.

Sound Release: She has the ability to release the absorbed sound in one burst.

Echolocation: Dazzler can use her conversion ability to act as a very crude form of echolocation. After singing through an amplifier for a minute, she has displayed the ability to see humanoid shapes through a brick wall.

She can produce numerous effects with the light she converts from sonic vibrations. She can create very simple patterns out of rays of light like circles, squares, triangles, and stars.[citation needed] She has learned to manifest her light as:

Light Projection: Dazzler possesses a body-wide energy field that controls the energy levels of the outer electron shells of her body in such a way as to cause the cascaded release of photons. In effect, this field is lasing, with the apparent efficiency of a laser (99.9%). The released energy is far greater than the incoming kinetic energy and therefore must involve an outside energy source, the nature of which is unknown. Left undirected, Dazzler’s light will radiate from her body in all directions, producing regular flashes of white light. By conscious control over the light she produces, she can control its direction, frequency (color), amplitude (intensity), and duration.

Blinding Flash: She can create a pulse of light on the order of several thousand watts seconds of power, which temporarily blinds people with its brilliance.

Lasers: By concentrating, Dazzler can generate a coherent beam of light, approximating a laser beam, with which she can cut through virtually anything. The field thus operates in a similar fashion as the process that creates a laser (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) and apparently has the same efficiency as a laser (99.9 percent).

Photon Blasts: She can generate a blast of concussive solid light.[citation needed]

Illumination: She can cause a bright glow all about her body to create light.

Strobes: She can generate a pulsating strobe-light effect.

Dazzle: She can create a chaotic cascade of sparkling lights and colors that severely upsets other people’s equilibrium.

Holograms: With effort, she can even create holograms of human beings and other three-dimensional beings and objects.

Rocket Burst: She has the ability to gain vertical altitude by direction a quick column of light beneath her.

Destructive Shield: She has the ability to create a destructive shield of light around herself with laser light that can vaporize small projectiles.

Light Mist: She can create a glowing or hazy almost fog-like effect that obscures the surrounding area.

Light Immunity: Her body, especially her eyes, shields itself against any injurious effects of her light transducing abilities, and against those of bright lights in general.

Sound Immunity: She has the ability to transduce sound also protects her from being deafened by loud noises.[citation needed]

Immunity to the Powers of Mortis She has been shown to be immune to powers of her half-sister Mortis, which ordinarily kills living beings instantly.

Superhuman Hearing She has highly developed ears, enabling her to detect sounds that others cannot register.

Resurrection: She is presently afflicted with a mysterious resurrection factor which prevents her from being killed by conventional methods.

Dazzler is a highly skilled athlete, and has become a good hand-to-hand combatant thanks to her training with the X-Men.
She is a talented singer, actress, dancer, as well as a highly accomplished on roller skates.

Equipment:
The necklace with the microphone locket Dazzler wears for all her performances is her mother's necklace that she left behind for Alison when she divorced Alison's father and left the family.

History:
Alison Blaire was born to Carter and Katherine Blaire in the Long Island suburb of Gardendale, New York. Alison's parents had a tense relationship, because her father was a stoic law student, while her mother was a free-spirited entertainer. Ultimately, this led to Katherine walking out on Carter while Alison was still a toddler, leaving Carter to raise Alison with the help of his mother, Bella Blaire. Katherine's leaving had a profound effect on Carter, who had kept the shameful secret of Katherine from Alison most of her life. As Alison entered adolescence and developed dreams of becoming a singer, her father, now a judge, became increasingly intolerant of the idea. Instead, Carter forced Alison to choose a life path similar to his own; Alison would become an academic star and continue on a path to law school. Alison's grandmother was more sympathetic to young Alison and encouraged her to explore her creative energies.

However, Alison manifested her mutant abilities while performing at a junior high school dance, blinding all in attendance save herself. For years, Alison kept her powers a secret from those closest to her, further alienating herself from her father. By the time she reached university, Alison began to explore both her powers and her musical ability. Alison crafted her own performing suit, accessories, and named herself "The Dazzler". It was at this moment that Alison decided to abandon her father's dream. While at her graduation ceremony, Alison informed Carter that she would not be attending the law school he had selected for her and instead would pursue a life as a singer, without her father's blessing or financial support.

Dazzler used her light-based mutant powers as a draw for her performances. Taking the sound of the music and converting it into dazzling displays of color drew the young singer enough attention to land her gigs at several New York clubs and discotheques. However, Alison knew that she would have to keep the nature of her powers a secret. Marketing her light shows as a "technological secret", Alison was able to bypass critical speculation for some time. Yet, while this little white lie fooled the club managers and others in her life, it did not escape the notice of Emma Frost, White Queen of the Hellfire Club, or Professor Charles Xavier, founder and mentor of the X-Men.

She joined the X-men, left the X-men to resume her singing career, rejoined the X-men, left the X-men, and left the X-men for singing.  She followed this pattern for several years, joining different groups: Excalibur, and SHIELD.  After her parents died, she revealed her identity to the public, which was good and bad for her singing career and became a movie star as well.  She has faked her death to avoid the whole heroine scene. During one of her stints with the X-men, she went through the Siege Perilous and ever since then she has resurrected after being killed.  This has only happened a couple of times and every time it is traumatic and takes her several months to fully regain her memories. 

She has dated various men, normals and heroes, but nothing ever clicked and during an after party, she slept with a woman and that was it.  Ever since then, women have been her choice in sexually partners.

The last time she quit heroine, she formed the band Lighbtbringr, this time in defense of genetic minorities' rights. She was happy with her new life, until a series of events led her to reconsider her decisions and she has stepped forward to join a new Avengers team.

Abrasive, when you can hear her. Sarcastic. Foul mouthed. Alisa is an asshole and she used to have a field of fucks to give but guess what? Now, it's barren. This is not to say that she can't be sweet. She can be but, usually, she'd much rather say nothing at all or fill your ears with so many random bits of drivel that YOU stop talking and go away. Waves goodbye. She is a loner, probably as a result of her time hiding, and she prefers her own company over anyone else's. She is prone to fits of almost manic energy and it comes out in her speech and her movements. A bird on cocaine. Nods. However, when it comes to her job? She is all business. Focused, a ghost in the shell or the machine...or you. She gets things done with a minimum of fuss so that her team is safe and she can go back to being alone.

Biography

Hm, Once upon a time, Alisa ran. Someone was after her and she had to hide, had to get away. As a young mutant, what better place to go then to Xavier's Institute? She remained hidden there, among the walls, in the dark corners. She existed in a twilight realm where no on saw or heard her but she saw and heard everything. She spent quite a few months in flux at that time, not allowing herself to be found until she'd had enough solitude. At that point, it was Jean Gray who picked up on her psychic trail but it was Cyclops who gave her the code name Cipher and trained her in the art of stealth.

She was never really well known by anyone, even when she was considered part of Young X-Men and she liked it that way. Of course, being a person that no-one actively pays attention to means she collects secrets like candy and hordes them but not for trade or sale. No, the knowledge she collected was solely for her. She also spent time out and about, taking on solo stealth and spy missions in an effort to stay busy. After all, conversation was always been actively discouraged at those times, right?

So where did she come from prior to her entrance to Xavier's school? Well, that's the question, isn't it? She remembers singing, a lilting soprano whispering the words to His Eye Is On The Sparrow against the shell of one small ear. She recalls the scent of freshly baked bread and belly laughs that made her giggle because they shook the world. She recalls screaming and black, black, black and she knows that when she arrived, all she could think about was him...she just did not know who HE was.

Hell, she STILL doesn't and the world has turned since then, right?
