Great to see no Dark Blessing appeared more than twice. Very good sign for build diversity and such.

Well, except for Artefact, I picked up a reskinned Belt of storm giants strength(The shackles on the art, they are never coming off) for that sweet sweet STR 29

I bought Matt Colville's Strongholds and Followers Book which has some pretty cool ideas for making magic (and balancing it) as well as making strongholds (Not to worry, Vera, these strongholds are not available until level 8 or 9 and are super expensive to build or renovate.) I'm just kicking it out there, I can lend Zaer a pdf copy if he wants to look at it and get some new ideas for things later or not at all.

I would be glad if you share the PDF so I can get ideas for keeps/fortresses on good guys side (as they likely have some). Also you do get one or two NPC's to tag along as well (as mentioned I had idea for a dark priestess).

In regards custom spells I am open for them, Vault of Vecna is approved PDF/Source for spells as well (cannot link it though as it leads from discord link).

Artifact but two different artifacts and Supreme Being, but otherwise dark blessings were spread around quite differently.

The npcs should be a good boon cause from what I see only the paladins have a sorce of healing they can really spread around. I might have a few more resources for 5e that might be fun.

To be perfectly honest I did think about a war priest or being a priest of the dead god the heroes just killed. But I had the thought, that it would change the basic nature and concept of Shatterspine. An incarnation of demonic birthright coupled with an orc legend of a giantslayer that was the first orc, took a elven bride and made many other orcs, hence the immense hatred between elf and orc.

Either that or I didn't want to hear the word "MEDIC!" constantly.

NotoriusBEN

even as is, I think it is an interesting dynamic our team has. We are all extremely capable for our levels, but we cannot get stuck in a slog.
it actually blends very well into the saturday morning cartoon motiff. villains do the thing, the heroes show up, and the villains have to retreat to conserve power and not be shattered.

we are strong, but we are not god-killers... yet.

Indeed, that's the point. Even isekai protagonist with their cheats should have room to grow so they are interesting. So thus you start as 3th level adventurers otherwise without any additional benefits besides the cheats (multiclass and blessings). Multiclass helps to make you versatile, have more abilities to draw from and enhance you beyond what's norm but not overwhelming powerful (not yet anyways). So as villains you need start smaller schemes and build bigger as in end game the heroes are +15 level at least if not 20 to able beat up a god and steal his essence between themselves to make themselves more powerful and immortal and go own world's evils asses major way.

Do not worry though as I have IC plot reason why said heroes do not roflstomp you immediately in the start.

Then Im eager to start. ^_^

Probably should think up a few ways for us to get our villainous legacies going. A bit of a recruiting drive I believe is in order. But with us on the backfoot of this war starting off, we'll need to probably employ some gurillia warfare. Maybe hit a supply route or two, deal a blow in a prison camp or such.

Pink Professional

I mean, as the protagonist; I'm sure I'll be guided towards the place I'm meant to go.

Zaer Darkwail

Well, as told I keep recruitment for a week and tomorrow time is up (as I started the thread back then). So do player pickings and OOC and IC thread in same day.

As far as start up, can't go wrong with Mercenary/solider of fortune type deals. Obviously we would work as a small unit at first.

I just imagine that she kinda stumbled into someplace, got attacked and stumbled out of the burning wreckage later when she first got to the world.

Hmm... All of these things make me think up new stuff and ponder everything. But in either case Im pretty confident I know how Ja'rok Shatterspine's tale starts up. Of course with Zaer around nothing is entirely certain. Possibly a suicide mission for starters sent by other fellow villains, wanting to be stupid evil and throw us at the problem to save their own skin. We as a PC Party know we hang together or hang separately. ^_^

*Just-sorta-stumbles out of the fire, shirt mostly ruined but still 'just' decent* "W...was that it?"

Omg, I completely forgot we can exploit the laws of anime on this. This of course means the more damage females take, the more clothes get torn off.

I mean, I'm using the rule of Anime-ass logic with Guan. Battle Damage, Maximum Power increasing with emotions, a healthy love of tenta...

What?

Laughing Hyena

Just a bit of fluff and a kind of what if, just in case Zaer has other ideas. I just feel like elaborating on his folk hero background. Yes I am taking a bit of Exalted with this as well.

One of the skirmishes from the vassals of the heroes and heroines late into the war, Ja'rok was one of the first to be summoned. However the ritual doesn't go quite as expected and instead of summoning him within the courts, he is summoned within the chaos of the pillaging and purging of the orc villages.

Brave and stalwart knights killing orc women and children with the elder and near adolescent orcs making a valiant effort to stop the knights from killing the fleeing orcs. This wasn't pure and honest battle but slaughter. No better than any true villain in his eyes. When Ja'rok rose admist the orcs, he himself coated in the blood of the dead and seeing the carnage being done in the name of so called heroism, he didn't hesitate and took hold of a mammoths tusk as a giant club and began berserking on the small unit of soldiers closet to the fleeing orcs.

The soldiers intel had not accounted for an actual champion amongst the elders, women and children. With a huge bellowing roar, the soldiers sought to use numbers to wear him down with both spears and swords. Unfortunately for them Shatterspine was as quick as he was enduring. Blades fail to sink into thick demonic hide and rage seemed to spur him onwards. That was when divine energy began to wash over him and with a terrible strike of crackling black lightning he smites the most garish and loud of the knights. The leader drops and the knights become demoralized. Ja'rok bought the orcs time to flee and routed the knights temporarily.

After the fight the orcs give their newfound champion aid to go with the refugees meaning to head closer to the stronghold and hopefully seek sanctuary. Using these moments of deprive he uses his divine magic to mend the wounds he did suffer from the sheer numbers he had to endure. Walking amongst the wagons he listens to the orc shaman about the legend of the first orc, a giant slayer whom took an elf for his bride in order to give birth to the race of orcs. Supposedly that is what they believe Shatterspine is.

Quite interesting take/comparison to exalted with your char Laughing Hyena, inspiring :). Anyways in few hours I do my picks but feel free chat and write about your chars and throw out ideas.

Marie Reynolds

Ah sad  that i just found this after the selection process started. Would you be willing to take backup player slots?

I am okay with backup players or players who want take over NPC's (which are less powerful than PC's but are still valid chars).

Laughing Hyena

Hmm maybe we can pull a muse and capture and convert a healslut? Note to self...

Marie Reynolds

Hmm I would like to be  in consideration for one of the back up player slots.  I also  might be willing to discuss running some npcs.

Well, one NPC's as quoted above is a heal slut. Anyways I make now opening posts and such after I see Gordon Ramsay suffer in national geographic channel but I announce the picks;

Ja'rok ShatterspinePaladin of Conquest 3 / Barbarian T1, Steelbane, Legendary
Guan Buhan Fighter Samurai 3 / Ranger T1, Weapon Master, Artefact
Vera Dreadrose Paladin Oathbreaker 3 / Wizard T1, Supreme Being, Dark Domain
Elias Balthezar Warlock Great Old One 3 / Wizard T1, Minion Master, Unrivaled Mind
Keiyurikyouu Figher Eldritch Knight 3 / Warlock T1, Dark Seduction, Shadow Mistress
Gazra, the Demon Fist  Fighter Brute 3 / Monk T1, Supreme Being, Artifact

So yeah, 6 slots filled :). I post around hour later the OOC, charsheet/cast thread and IC as well.

Pink Professional

I just thought how Guan can attack ten times at Fighter level 20. Ten attacks with a Halberd in six seconds; that's pretty fucking Anime.
