That's all covered then. Between Finn and Mary we have magical education covered, and physical combat falls under the gym/PE header - Johann doesn't make people run laps, he makes them do sparring drills and mock duels.

FWIW, all of the animated armor/statues on the property are carbon copies of Johann's own armor design. One of his periodic jokes is replacing one and pretending to be inanimate until someone walks by. :D

I'm sure Mary will have sat in wait for such a laugh on more than a few occasions. She loves a good prank!

The Headmistress as well is rather adept with enchantments, and does on occasion teach classes on the Fundamentals of Magick and Spellwork, when she has a rest day--the basics, charms, locks, broom riding, that sort of thing. She's fond of animating inanimate objects, especially when it comes to armor, statues, or paintings.
Just out of curiosity, does someone need to have a specific magic ability to be able to learn this stuff, or is it theoretically possible for pretty much anyone to develop a bit of skill at magic?

(I left it deliberately ambiguous whether Talia can learn magic beyond her general "winter" theme -- I wasn't really sure what would be reasonable.)

Rhiannon Smith is posted in the character section

Yup, a literal fiery red head with an earth smashing temper..
Welp, Rhiannon and Talia are clearly natural enemies.  I suppose they'll have to fight to the death.

(More seriously...it doesn't seem likely that their respective families would have come into contact, since Rhiannon's Unseelie ancestor was relatively minor and Talia's father doesn't spend much time around the fae in any case.  I'm open to ideas if you have any suggestions, though.  The two of them might actually get along pretty well; it seems like they have a few things in common.)

Anyone should be able to learn the basics of magic, and tinker with other things. We established before that generic / basic utilization of magic could be considered applicable for just about anyone that could reasonably have them and didn't need to be itemized as a specific talent/ability. With that in mind, anyone who wanted to learn that didn't already know, should likewise be able to pick up some things as they progress.

I'm sure they could (potentially) get along like a house on fire. (fiery conflagration that kills everyone involved and leaves a smoking ruin).

She isn't really part of the Seelie Court, and isn't used to the rivalries.. she hasn't been involved with the courts since the last time one of her father's 'friends' tried to kill her to bring out her powers.

Of course her mother could have been one of Talia's subjects, by way of Talia's father..

So I'm thinking of making student as well, but I can't decide between a Japanese Kitsune and a Norse frost giant scion. Tricksters are fun, but I adore playing big boisterous brawlers.

Callie Del Noire

I can definitely see Finn helping Rhiannon in learning how to control her transformations, maybe figure out how to spread her fire resistance to her clothing

It would be a stretch to describe anyone as Talia's subject (she has a fancy title, but no real authority to speak of), but it is possible that Talia's father would have been introduced to other part-mortal descendants of the Unseelie Court at some point.

I imagine if these two got into an argument, they would end up screaming at each other in the center of a rapidly expanding cloud of steam.  I don't really expect this to happen, but it would certainly be quite a scene.

...It's remarkable that Talia's Unseelie relatives seem to have been quite a bit nicer to her than Rhiannon's Seelie relations are to her.  Faeries sure are weird.  (But then, if Talia hadn't started developing her abilities early, who knows what might have happened?)

I could see things going pretty fun..hot an cold faeries. Problem is Rhi doesn’t like going full elental, it’s hard on her clothing.

TheGlyphstone

Cranky phoenix boy might be more up her alley, at least in terms of elemental affinities.

He might find it nice to have someone he can't burn.. but Talia is definitely more her sort of eye candy as well.

Juggtacular

I could see exchanges between Hikaru and a Kitsune being hilarious

"Leech"

"Flea bitten mutt"

"I'm a fox!"

"Close enough"

xD

Followed by a vampire/sidhe/kitsune sandwich, right? jk xD

TheGlyphstone

Yeah. My hesitation on the kitsune largely comes from having two trickster-personality characters in the same RP. The frost giant would be a much more straightforward, forthright sort of person, and let me ham it up a bit. Plus, Team Fire is currently at two, so Team Ice could use a man to balance out the roster. :D

Hey Nyx...how does Mary feel about teachers tossing students down wells to end arguments??

Student-tossing is widely frowned upon. Detention by means of cooperative maintenance tasks, like catching the gremlins that live in the shadow-spaces beneath the furniture would be her immediate suggestion for quarreling students. 🤣

LamentingQuill

Hikaru can run up walls, being the undead has it's perks with super inhuman speed and agility xD

Unless teach tossed him down there during the day and factoring in how far said well was from the school or a source of shelter from the sun that he could reach before his two hour time limit before he starts to get red, he might wait down there then for night to fall... lolz

Probably depends on if you fish them out again.

hehehehe...In the back of my head Brighid's comment to that is, Getting themselves out is part of the cooling off process.

lol....Well that's doable...though if they start fighting near the beehives, Brighid makes no promises!  >:)

Just don’t toss Teddy down, he might go nuclear and torch half the dimension.
