Since Yahoo has changed I've noticed it's being used much less. What's been the more popular place to set up chat role-plays?

Discord seems predominately popular for chatting and chat based RPing.

They say best men are moulded out of faults, and, for the most part, become much more the better for being a little bad...

Discord definitely. It can even work for some system games since there are so many bots to handle dice rolls and no doubt a host of other kinds of bots to help manage RP big or smoll.
