So, I love post apocalyptic stories.

Whether it be zombies, nuclear war, waterworlds, or frozen earths. I love them. It's come to my attention that lately though all I'm seeing is stories that while in post apocalyptic settings they don't really focus on the dark aspect of the story. Of what happens when the world goes to shit and many humans no longer have a moral system they have to uphold because, hey it's not like they are going to go to jail for stealing or murdering or raping right?

I don't have an exact setting in mind but I have an apocalypse in mind. While I love zombies I don't want that to be a main catalyst. So, a virus. A fast spreading virus that either kills you, or your body does what it should with any virus and builds up your immune system to fight this virus. A good 90% of the global population will die because of this virus.

I'd like to take a small group, 3-6 no larger, and explore not only building up a community and things of that nature but also the dark part of it. Murdering, kidnapping, all of it. That doesn't mean every character has to be a blood thirsty murder who takes every woman, or man, that they see.

I'd also like for everyone who is in the game to be comfortable playing two characters. I'd like to stress that I want two groups going in the game. So, not every character is going to be in the same vicinity as the others. If you're interested please let me know.

I love this idea and I'm stating my interest :)

I had a game similar to this a while back if you'd like I could pm you to talk ideas to possibly help.
“The Doctor: This is bad, I don't like this. [kicks console and yells in pain] Never use force, you just embarrass yourself. Unless you're cross, in which case... always use force!
Amy: Shall I run and get the manual?
The Doctor: I threw it in a supernova.
Amy: You threw the manual in a supernova? Why?
The Doctor: Because I disagreed with it! Now stop talking to me when I'm cross!”

I am also interested in this game.

How long after the "apocalypse" were you seeing this taking place?

I'm interested :) Have to find a good way though to create a world where certain beauty practices are still in game. I also adore pretty and sometimes even extreme nails/toenails and for that an old fashioned Mad Max or The Walking Dead type environment hardly fitting :P Neither 12 Monkeys, talking of viruses :)

I just want to make sure that everyone is aware that I am asking for to be comfortable with multiple characters and being able to keep up with multi-paragraph posts. Personally I usually sit somewhere between 4-6 for group games but I've been known to do more. That would be the expectations for both characters.

I don't want the game to be in the beginning stages of the apocalypse where people are still dying left and right. Probably six months or so into the 'apocalypse' everyone who is going to die from the flue will be dead at that point.

I really like that idea too...still have access to some amount of cosmetics and lingerie, whether finding caches from before the fall, and/or using low tech weaving and berry pastes etc. to make new stuff with a more tribal / dark ages / viking look.

Maybe some sort of Fallout-like apocalypse where there are 'vaults' with stuff leftover from before (and or people who were surviving the apocalypse in them then ventured out again.)

Anyway, color me interested in this premise.

AmbrosiaPudding

I'd like to address the issue of cosmetics.

The apocalypse isn't a nuclear one guys. It was a widespread flu that killed off people. There would still be things like nail polish, lipstick, etc. Though I highly doubt in this setting that it would be of much importance. Meaning, I don't think that should be something for this game specifically that is too highly focused on.

ff

Oh ok so it's like a new Black Plague where most of the population is gone but stuff is still mostly intact (except a lot of it destroyed from rioting and anarchy and whatnot)

Pretty much. In a lot of ways think of it as like the Walking Dead, without zombies and with slightly less people.

Also, here is the CS I'd like you guys to really think about these because I do want this to be a SMALL group with people playing multiple characters.

I really like this idea, and really want to throw my hat in the ring. If that's okay. I'll have two sheets up ASAP

Yay, I'll make a character.

Before I figure out description or choose a picture, any guidance on clothing that fits the scenario? For example modern clothing (albeit maybe ragged / unwashed) or near-future sci fi ish (like the jumpsuits from Fallout), or more like primitive / post-apoc-crafted clothing?

Also is this starting pretty soon after the virus wiped out most people, or has it been a few years

As I've said before it's about six months after the virus so things would be probably unwashed. Also, it' set in modern time so there isn't like a sci-fi ish feel to things.

Character proposal submission

EDIT: character withdrawn (due to mix of personal capacity/time, and character fit w/ the RP)...if someone's interested in a post apoc-y 1:1 with this as my char, send me a PM!

Name: Jessica Vendo
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Personality: Rebellious, desperate, survivalist, greedy, chaotic, nearly bipolar in mood and D/s spectrum, bisexual. Generally selfish but potentially very doting on and fiercely protective of close lovers or family. Sexually switch with other women, sexually submissive (but more selective) with men (abhors submissive men and likely to get into fights with dominant ones).
Background: Before the outbreak, Jessica was a rebel in high school, and barely got into college, only then on a marksmanship scholarship. She spent more time experimenting with the women's volleyball team members than attending class or studying, and dropped out to enlist in the military. Boot camp went fine - she seemed to almost masochistically love the stresses and abuses of basic - as did a more elite program training, for the same reasons. However, Jessica was soon in the midst of a platoon scandal and dishonorable discharge hearings.

The hearings never reached a conclusion: the virus broke out and everything went to hell. Jessica jumped to join a splinter faction of disgruntled soldiers who figured their best chance was on their own, not under the crumbling chain of command. She nearly had a psychotic break when her sweet civilian sister succumbed to the virus, while hellion Jessica proved one of the immune.

In the faction, the distraught and jaded Jessica coped with loss through the outlet of violence. She partook on her share of both heroic and repugnant actions, helping other faction members or potential recruits in need, while at the same time being vicious and selfish and survival-first where any rivals to the faction’s resources and powers were concerned. The world had become dog eat dog, and she was a bitch in heat.

The faction strongmen soon descended into little better than slavers, press-ganging any found survivors who would be useful as soldiers or breeders for their ranks. Jessica became conflicted, and found herself betrayed. The faction leaders knew she was too useful as a scavenger and fighter to use as a mere breeding slave, but she still found herself increasingly leaned on and not-so-subtly threatened by faction leaders who wished her to serve them in very personal ways she would rather not. She sensed the inevitable, and beat it to the punch. She struck off on her own, putting as much distance as she could behind her.

Offs: Vore, scat, submissive males (don't mind roleplaying with in a group, but won't be jumping on).

Name: Samson Debicki   Age: 27   Gender: Male
Personality: Quiet, cautious, committed. Debicki is a former member of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children and trained as a Recon Marine. When the virus struck he was living quietly in a cabin and decompressing from a recent tour of the middle east. He is a quiet guy who doesn't rush into anything. He is a cool head and knows staying alive is about tactical planning.
Background: Samson is a recently discharged Recon Marine who was taking some time to himself before returning to civilian life. He grew up in Maryland and joined the Marines after getting into some trouble in Baltimore. He saw action in Afghanistan as well as Iraq and has the scars to prove it. Once back in the states he took sabbatical in a cabin to decompress. It's a hard adjustment to stop toting a rifle everywhere you go, and isolation seemed a good idea.

When the virus hit He heard the news on a radio and kept his head down for a while hoping things would blow over. When supplies ran scarce he had to head back to civilization, and that's where he learned about the new state of the union. Three men attempted to ambush him and after a running gunfight he killed all of them.

Offs: No gore or bathroom shit

#18
Name: Thomas Morgan
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Personality: Intelligent, crafty, and agile. He is witty and can have a bit of a smart mouth. He'll warm up right away to those whom are friendly to him, but generally won't put a lot of work into specifically making someone like him. He doesn't try to come off arrogant, but he personally believes that his skills are very important to have around and will let someone know it if they are trying to screw him over.
Background: Before the virus, Thomas was a hospital pharmacist. He had gotten his doctorate in pharmacy when he was 25, worked in a chain at first, then got work as an inpatient pharmacist at a local hospital, because he just didn't know what to do with his life…

Thomas had been a bit of an underachiever in high school, but still made very good grades. He was a smart kid that the way the school system was set up, was left unengaged and just bored. He cut classes with his friends now and then, didn't do much homework, and even started smoking pot later in his high school education. Of course he was not as much a loser as a bunch of his friends, so he managed to pass with decent marks. He even managed to write a good paper that got him a scholarship. Not bad, a few more years of school to jerk around, get high, and get laid.
After he got his AA and basically had to figure out something to do, he just sort of fell into the two year doctorate of pharmacy program.

With most of his lesser achieving friends sort of falling out as time went on, Thomas quit smoking weed for the most part and just focused on his studies. That it turned out really appealed to him!
The way different compounds worked together and the effect they had on the human body. He even figured out how to make acid before the end of his first year, and more from there. He was the only one in his class buying himself a new car…

He was witnessing the beginning of the end first hand as hospitals got full, then got overwhelmed, then the staff began dropping. When the military put them on a state of emergency, Thomas was the first to raid the hospital drug lockers.
As society fell, and fringe groups started taking over, Thomas found himself in a position where his experience with drugs and compounds made him very valuable. Not only for the sake of healing. It seems the need to escape from the world on a really great high, was not diminished with the coming of the new world.

The concept reminds me of a show called "The Tribe" but without the whole "virus killing adults" thing and more down the road of "The Last of Us". I am interested but I have not long returned to E after hiatus and don't want to overload myself. D:

Before proposing characters I need to ask what shall be the difference between the two? Like one of them better to be 'good' alignment-wise while the other 'evil' or just create two characters according to my own concept/mood and we shall see how to assign them to the two groups?

Name: Hugh Wylye
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Personality: Capricious and whimsical, Erik's Pagan friends often described him as Fae-like and larger than life. As great a friend; as terrible an enemy. Even before the apocalypse, his morality was his own, and he was only beholden to himself.  People, upon meeting him, will either love him or hate him; it is very difficult to stay neutral towards such a bombastic and eccentric individual, someone who seems to show a new face to each individual he meets.
Background: Erik seemed to dabble in a little bit of everything; poetry and theatre were his main passions and pursuits, and how he managed to pay the bills (though some times he did quite literally play the role of starving artist), but he also enjoyed camping, hiking, parkour, and martial arts; he nurtured his body just as much as he nourished his mind, honing both. While he's far from perfect at either, and has plenty of flaws, he's always been able to portray himself in a grandiose way that makes him seem indomitable... now that the world has changed, the old rules have gone, though... perhaps someone will finally smash the mirrors and clear away the smoke of his illusions.
Offs: Scat/watersports, extreme violence (amputation, eye-gouging, etc)

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one. They aren't necessarily going to be 'evil' or 'good' like that but having two groups and all of us discovering how the human condition changes depending on circumstances is definitely going to be something I'd like to look at with a small group.

Also the possibility for one group to antagonize the other.

If you guys could pm your character sheet concepts to me I'd appreciate it.
