This role play is now in progress.  I'm not opposed to one more person joining in a way appropriate to the story.  Please see the thread.

The posting at the town square on the bulletin board seemed simple enough.  It was writted in elegant script, and stated:

Adventurers Wanted!  Looking for team of two or three competent, combat capable individuals to escort scholar to unexplored ruins two days out.  One week contract, thirty gold per day per person, plus equal shares of any treasure found.  Literacy required!  Inquire with Trace Ruhig at the alchemy shop.

Inside the only alchemy shop in town, the would-be patron worked on a few potions to keep his stock up, hoping the gold he had managed to save up would be enough to sponsor an expedition.  The feline had never left the safety of the town beyond the comfort of the road, but he was hopeful that he could soon see what he had read so much about...

Hello and welcome to my thread!  I am neither new to role play nor GMing.  I have DMed D&D campaigns for many years, however this is my first attempt at such a thing here, on E.  I am thinking something free-form, within reason, though if required, I would use a 3.5e combat system.

I'd like to be up-front in saying that I am looking for two or three players for this who typically post at least once per day.  This will be more plot-driven, but I'd love to see a healthy dose of smut.  If the characters include males, my character will most likely be cursed with a gender shift early on.  I'm detail oriented, and ask for at least one paragraph per post in the game, outside of combat.

I'm looking for people to play low-powered, but competent adventuring sorts.  I love character growth and development, and over the long haul would love to see a steady rise in both skill and power.

Please review my O/O page, linked in my signature.  It also includes a basic rundown of the character I wish to play.  You can use that as a basic template to propose a character.

If interested, please reply here!

I'm throwing my hat into this ring.  I'm using a character that is from another anthro thread that ground to a halt.  I can play him as either an anthro character of a straight up human.  He's my first non-heterosexual character, so we'll see how things go....

or

Name:    Kotter Potter (real name Wendel Casper)
Race:      Human  (Alternative anthro otter)
Gender:  Male
Age:        Mid twenties
Physical Description: Tall and slim, Wendel (or Kotter) is far stronger than he looks.  He prefers kilts to pants.  He claims that it is because it allows easy access but it is actually because it is the traditional garb of  river sailors (aka otters).  He has abandoned his clan tartan in favour of black.   As a human, he has long black hair the reaches his shoulders.  As an otter, his fur is mostly dark grey, bordering on black and his arms, legs and belly are marked with much paler fur.
Occupation: Sailor/Trader
Disability:      Hunted.  Also compulsive liar.
Orientation:  Pansexual
Position:       Switch
About:Kotter (or Wendel) is playful.  He enjoys swimming and would spend most of his time in the water if he could.  He tends to be very laid back, almost to the point of appearing lazy but he actually works hard and plays harder.  He's cheerful and pleasant unless there is a need for him not to be, at which point he becomes frightening focused on the task at hand.  He grew up on the river, third child of a mother taken by fever far to early for him to remember her.  He was raised by a father unused to children; he treated them like his sailors, with a harsh and unyielding hand.  Wendel grew up hating his father.  His two older brothers quickly found work on different riverboats but Wendel wasn't given the choice.  He was made to stay on his father's ship, learning to sail and to fight and to be a trader like his father and his grandfather, a man he only knew from stories told by his father.  One summer day, after he'd been the subject of another of his father's beatings, he'd had enough.  Told to sell "everything for whatever he could",  Wendel took his father at his word and sold the cargo and the ship for a fraction of its worth.  Then, with everything he owned in a rucksack, he ran like hell, swearing not to never become a drunken gambler like his father.  His father is, of course hunting him down.  He knows he can take his old man with blades, knives or his fists but he still isn't looking forward to facing him in combat because as much as he hates his father, he still loves him.  He's come inland, in the hopes that his father won't think to search that far from the water.

For somebody who is usually slow moving, he is blistering fast when fighting with a pair of cutlasses.  He relies on speed rather than strength and deflects rather than blocks attacks from larger and stronger opponents.  He firmly believes that he can beat any opponent by allowing them to wear themselves down.  He can climb wet ropes in a full gale, tie knots that will hold until the rope breaks and steer a ship safely through dangerous shoal all while making repairs with his bare hands and fending pirates off with his teeth.  He's skilled at haggling and has been trading goods all up and down the rivers for as long as he can remember.

He's a chronic liar and more often than not, if he's telling a story, the words coming out of his mouth are false.  He comes by that trait honestly; river otter culture includes the telling of tall tales and those capable to telling bold-faced lies with a straight face win high esteem.

Thank you for your interest! ^.^  The anthro version would more than likely be fine.  I've never played with an otter before, so I can see it being a lot of fun.

Would he be motivated by what seems like easy gold for a simple escort job?  Not the sexual kind, obviously =P

He's more interested in the possibility of adventure.  He's got enough gold to keep him for a while but then again, more is always good.

Fair enough.  Trace is after knowledge, but adventure is a likely 'obstacle' to what he seeks.

Kotter will talk enough for both of them.

Not overtly familiar with the combat system, haven't played D&D in years but this sounds interesting. I'm thinking an elven rogue girl with a healthy taste for adventure. If your alright with my lack of knowledge considering the combat system I would love to join.

I don't mind the lack of knowledge.  I have no problem tracking all of that.  The role play is more the focus.

Welcome aboard!

Name: Violet
Race: Wood Elf
Gender: Female
Age: 64 Appears: 24
Physical Description: Standing at a stunning six foot, Violet is a stunning beauty. Slender and willow she moves with a type of grace that is near hard to describe. The lift of her hand to sip a drink could be a dance move. With lightly tanned skin and hair of chestnut brown her coloring is not entirely eye grabbing but there was something in her eyes, an intensity, an other-worldliness that haunted man a men in the dark lonely hours of the night.
Occupation: A mercenary
Skill Set: Lock pick skills, climbing and general sneaking, silent walking, pick pocket and her general charm. Weapon wise she is skilled with a dagger and a bow, passable with a sword though she finds them too cumbersome.
Disability: Violet has a temper when provoked and can act without thinking much like a teenager.
Orientation: Bi with a preference for men
Position: Switch but tends towards bottom sexually
About: Violet was always a wild child, the type who was always getting in trouble and generally seen as a bad influence among the other young people of her town. Growing up she never quite fit into the mold as her parents would have liked. She tried but she had an inch under her skin. She was neither rich nor poor but she always desired more. She envied her betters who often lorded it over people, herself included. In response she found herself taking little things in her early youth, hair pins, a book, a pretty scarf. They were all little things but she quickly learned she was good at taking things that belonged to someone else.

Her parents though were not so endeared to her little talent nor the attitude driving it. She was kicked out when after many battles of will ended with Violet threatening for the thousandth time to leave and her parents told her she had no place with them anymore. She was old enough to leave and did taking u0p with some traders who were passing through the area and left. She traveled with them for quite a time before meeting the man who would shape her into the person she was today.

His name was Eric and he was a sell sword without compunction. He didn't care what the job was as long as it paid well. The two met when Violet coveted Eric's ring. She saw him in a shadowy inn, as the place filled with travelers tired from the road and locals eager for a drink before taking to their beds. Violet was there amusing herself. She liked watching people and observing people different then those in her own village. She saw Eric, noticing him for his imposing nature. She talked to him flirted with him as was her nature and as a memento tried to take his ring. More amused then angry with the young slip of a girl Eric decided to take her with him once he realized she was not tied to anyone or anything.

They spent years together and in those years she honed her talents for theft and sneaking into places she shouldn't be. Eric groomed her, taught her everything he knew until the day came where she had nothing left to learn and he had nothing left to teach her. They parted on good terms, she just simply out grew him.

Now years later Violet circles among groups who are less then concerned with the letter of the law. She takes on jobs that catch her interest or simply fill the time when she is bored or if the money is enough to entice her. Her driving motivation always has been and always will be the money.

Violet looks like she'll help shape the dynamics of the group into something interesting.

I'll go ahead and start a thread this afternoon, then =)

Any preference on who posts second?

That would certainly work ^.^

On a side note, if someone posts interest on here before my 2nd post on the thread, I'd be more than happy to allow a third.

Now is that YOUR 22nd post or THE 22nd post?

If it's yours, the thread will be approx 64 posts in, assuming you post first and the two of us each respond in turn before you post again.

Yeah, I'm that much of an anal numbers guy...
