Zhane is very proud of his body, he works out regularly to stay in shape. The only distinguishing mark on his body would be a five inch long scar just above his kidneys on his back. The scar was a result of a bar fight where he was cut in the back with a broken glass bottle.

Personality
Zhane is most often described as being mischievous. In his younger years he was known for causing quite a bit of trouble but has mellowed out over time and his antics have become less destructive. He still thinks of himself as being bad ass and acts cocky at times. Despite his many acts of rebellion he's a good guy at heart.
He's very laid back and relaxed, often using humor to defuse tense situations. He doesn't let pressure push him and shows no signs of being afraid of death. He doesn't fight with his fists very often but he's not one to back down from a fight. He's been called technologically gifted and considered by many to be the top computer science officer in the fleet. He's been promoted twice for his excellent service. Then was in turn demoted for his rebellious antics.
When it comes to computers he's a genius, specializing in Intrusion and Data Collection. He's also well known for making custom systems and communication devices. He often makes a little extra coin by building some of this equipment for friends and such. Building custom machines and programs isn't the only way he gains extra money either, he's also been known gamble. All though he'd never admit it he's a borderline gambler. Even though this habit has gotten him in trouble on a number of occasions he never learns his lesson.
Being abandoned by his mother at a young age and his father bounce in and out of unsuccessful relationships has taught him to never take love seriously. He's never had a serious girlfriend and doesn't plan/expect to ever have one. Not that he's totally against the idea of long term relationships but after watching his father waste his life going from heartbreak to the next, Zhane knows that that's not something he wants. So he's waiting to find the right one and he's in no rush to find her either.
History
Zhane often got in trouble as a child, most notably for hacking into the schools computer system and changing his grades. As he grew older his "pranks" grew bolder. After he graduated high school he moved out of his fathers home only to find being unemployed and living on the streets sucked. He started hacking for money until eventually he was caught. Impressed with his abilities to not only hack into Earth's computer systems but several other systems developed by other worlds Starfleet's council decided the young man may yet be of use.
The council made an agreement with him to let him serve out his ten year sentence in service to them rather than spend it in a penal colony. His first assignment was at Starfleet Advanced Technologies division developing better cyber security over the systems that governed Earth. While there he attended Cochrane University classes online and obtained a degree upgrading him to officer. After two years there his "outside the box" thinking got him sent to Starfleet Research and Development division. There he developed new computer systems to go onto the new ships coming into the Yard. Several advancements got him promoted but his rebellious antics continued to get him demoted. After three years there he was caught sleeping with Admiral Haffel's wife and daughter at the same time. The admiral petitioned to have the deal between Zhane and Starfleet revoked and have Zhane sent to prison for the remainder of his sentence.
Luckily for Zhane the Fleet Admiral had taken notice of Zhane's good work and foresaw great things coming from Zhane in the future. In order to keep Zhane out of prison and away from Admiral Haffel he was assigned to the USS Artemis.
