The Wild Provinces
The Wild Provinces
Imagine the fjords without a sea with rivers between the mountains and you are quite close to seeing the Wild Provinces. It is a vast mountainous region with a cold chilly climate. The lands are green, but only grass, lichen and moss grow on the taller rocky peaks. Lowlands are no lush paradises either as the trees and plants that grow there are often gnarled and short due to their roots not being able to dig deep into the stone. For most of the Wild Provinces it is cold all year round, though some cracks in the land open into volcanoes which then warm the surrounding waters and lands to be comfortable even during winter.
The Wild Provinces are a home to many large beasts such as trolls, ettin, griffins, linnorm and such great predators. They hunt the fish from the rivers and wandering packs of great ibex, goat, jackalope and other smaller predators.
Andra tribes wandering the lands in their ancestral ruins are the uncontested dominant species of the Wild Provinces. There may be some other races living underneath the land in the caves and crevices of the mountains.
