Character Description

Shelin has a fair teint, long blonde hair that she usually wears in a pony tail, with a few strands escaping, and blue eyes. She's got an slender build, and usually wears leather clothes and a gold torque, and two slightly curved daggers.

Shelin is agile and has deft hands, but is not very strong. She has good stamina, but can't endure much punishment.

Mentally, Shelin was not as gifted as physically. She's quite charming, but not as smart or wise as she thinks.

Shelin has some stuborn streak, but often tries to "roll with the punches", as she calls it - to adjust to whatever obstacle or problem is there, and find a way around it. Among her faults are greed and vanity, but while she is not willing to die for a cause, she's no coward, and loyal to her friends.

Shelin is a decent dancer, though not as proficient as girls trained from childhood, and she's quite adept at picking locks and purses. Her fighting skills are more show than substance though - she can be deadly with her twin daggers, but not in a stand-up fight. Her dancer's training makes her hard to hit though, but if she's hit she usually goes down. She is a good climber and swimmer, and she has been using a sling since childhood to hunt small animals, but the less said about her archery the better.

Her upbringing in Brythunia left her with a decent knowledge of farming and the country life and her time in Shadizar made her familiar with the customs of cutpurses, footpads and doxies and their clients.

Shelin was brought up as a follower of Mitra, but she feels Bel helped her to escape Shadizar after she prayed for assistance, and she has started to worship the god of thieves. Equipment

Shelin carries twin daggers, slightly curved, which were once made for Baress the Bold, and which she kept after he met his end in Shazidar. Her only other possessions of note are a gold torque/necklace, and a golden armband, the latter covering up her slave brand on her left arm. lockpicks and similar thieves gear are often hidden in her pack or belt, and she can quickly fabricate a sling from a bit of leather if she has to.

History

Shelin grew up in Brythunia, in a small farming village near Kelbaza. At the age of 15 she was captured by a raiding band of Turans, and taken as a slave to Shadizar, where she was sold to a brothel. Working there she met Baress the Bold, a mercenary with a larcenous streak, who fell in love with the blonde, and bought her from the brothel owner. Shelin learned the thieving trade from an indulging Baress in the years that followed, until Baress met his untimely end at the hands of e couple of guards which were more alert than he expected. Shelin, who had been waiting in his room at an inn, decided not to wait what the guards or anyone else would do with her, and ran away, with most of his belongings.
