Appearance
Tall and athletic she stands at 5'10 in her bare feet and moves with the easy confidence of a woman comfortable in her own skin. When left loose, her dark hair falls to just below her shoulder blades in a straight curtain of shiny, chestnut, locks but it is rarely left loose and is, most often, drawn back into a tight braid to keep it out of her face for flying. She looks out on the world from hazel eyes whose brown and green mix seems to have the ability to change slightly with her moods (darker in anger or passion, more green showing when she's happy or amused) or as they pick up dominant coloring from her clothing.
Something few people ever see, is a jagged scar on her right calf where Corseth scored her with her claws at her Hatching. The Master Healer in residence at the time, however, stitched it beautifully however and what could have been debilitating, in less trained hands, instead healed cleanly leaving just a thin line as a reminder for one of the most amazing, and horrifying, days of her life!

Personality
Even as a small child, Killara was remarkably grounded and well-rounded. Always true to her word and loyal, almost to a fault, to those she claimed as her own in some fashion, either through friendship or ties of blood. Words most commonly used to describe her are trustworthy, kind, loyal, steadfast, grounded, intelligent and patient. This isn't to say she doesn't have a dark side or a temper, they just aren't her most prevalent traits unless her dragon is also angry for some reason and she is sharing her emotions.
As an adult, there is, most often, a small smile playing on her lips. She often looks as if she knows some secret she isn't going to share and, with her gift of speaking to dragons, that might be true! Whatever secrets might be whispered to her however, she keeps to herself and every Rider and Dragon in Igen Weyr, as well as the people who work the Caverns, know their Junior Weyrwoman is someone you can take your troubles too without her deriding them or spreading gossip. What you tell her, stays with her and she, usually won't even bring it back up to the teller again unless the information she'd given is a problem that may need follow-up attention. She tried to make herself an asset to both her Senior Weyrwoman and those who oversee the day-to-day running of the Weyr while also still finding time for herself and Corseth to simply find a lazy day here and there to swim, or lie in the sun just being lazy.
History
Born in Igen Weyr she has known no other life but that of the Weyr and is she daughter of a Green Rider (K'lar) and a Harper (Rasra) who'd been assigned to the Weyr for a time and who continued visited as she was able while Killara was growing up. Raised among Riders and those that live to support them she has known great freedom, but her mother, made it clear that that freedom also came with responsibilities. It was a lesson that took root in the kind-hearted child and it wasn't at all unusual to find her helping in the kitchens or laundry or aiding other children in learning their lessons when she wasn't at her own.
By the time she was only 7 or 8 she knew all the excavated halls of the Weyr even better than many of the older children and would often lead games of exploration or "hunting" back through them and few ever worried that she would do anything but bring them all back happy and ready to fall easily asleep for the adults caring for them. On days that they didn't have lessons she'd actually often have the Head cook or someone else suggesting she take the children off to play one they were all done with their chores (and especially so on Feast days!) so that they wouldn't end up just being under foot.
She couldn't say exactly when she realized that it was unusual that she could hear dragons. For the longest time, in her youth, she simply assumed that everyone could hear the voices that she, herself, heard all the time. Now and then she would receive odd looks when people thought she was talking to herself, but she simply brushed that aside and thought little of it. After all, the voices were normal to her and none minded telling her when she was trying to pay attention to things that were none of her business. As she got older, however, she became more aware that she never really saw other people having those same one-sided conversation with themselves and she learned not to make it so obvious when she was doing so.
It wasn't until history lessons started covering famous Queen Riders like Moreta and Lessa that she saw a use for her strange gift, but they had been the Riders of Queens and she was still only a child! It made her decide that she would do what needed doing to find out if she would be a good candidate for Impression when she was old enough, but (still being a child) also decide to, childishly, keep her secret until then!
It was only when she, and some other children were helping to sand a few young dragons, to help clear dead scales from stretching and growing hides, that a Green Rider realized that the brunette working on her dragon wasn't just chattering away as all children did when helping with the dragons, but holding an actual conversation with the dragon! At that point her secret was out and she was properly chastised for having deliberately kept it such a secret.
If asked, the best day of her life was the day Corseth chose her. Looking into those multifaceted eyes she'd felt a welling up of love like nothing she'd ever felt before. Young herself, barely 16 and old enough to be put forward as a Candidate it would have been easy to become overwhelmed with the needs of caring for a young dragonet if she'd been alone in her learning, but with an entire Weyr willing to give one of their own advice and help it was a, mostly, joyous, if busy, time in her life. Even now, 10 years later, she still looks back on those first months fondly.
Any Other Info
Killara has an intense fear of snakes and would, at some point, like a firelizard but (since she has a dragon of her own) she's never actually requested one.

Killara, swimming, hunting, sunning on the beach, having her hide tended, hunting, trying to outfly those silly male dragons during a mating flight!
Dislikes
Killara being busy, being told to wait, scaly patches of hide that she can't scratch herself, anyone who upsets Killara
Personality
Corseth can be impatient and impulsive. She often seems to strain against the responsibilities placed on her and her rider, but listens when Killara asks her to remain calm. Intelligent, she recognizes that she chose well in Killara and thinks Killara is quite lucky to have her. Killara keeps her from getting into trouble (when a Rider who was just as impulsive and impatient might allow them both to get into trouble!) and she makes sure that Killara finds time to have fun and relax instead of getting caught up, entirely in her responsibilities to the Weyr.
She also has a temper! Protective as she is of her Rider, the fastest way to earn the Queen's ire is to harm Killara in some way. Of course the reverse is also true. The quickest way into her good graces is to aid Killara in some fashion. The second fastest way into her good graces is to be handy when she has a scaly patch she can't reach and to sand it down for her until she is all but humming and her eyes are rolling a dark blue in contentment.
History
Hatched in the Turn 2812, Corseth bonded to Killara of Igen Weyr. The choosing took very little time as Corseth seemed to all but burst from her egg and made a beeline for the lithe brunette. Looking up into the human girls face, Corseth had simply known that this was the girl for her. She could feel that they would do well together, and though she couldn't have expressed it, in her extreme youth, she could sense that they would balance each other out well. Killara needed her as much as she needed Killara.
She hadn't meant to hurt Killara, but in her rush to get to the girl, and then to try and emphasize her choosing, she had reached out for her with one clawed foot and scored her leg. Surprised by the sudden flare of pain she felt from her human, as well as the burst of red against the white gown she'd been wearing, Corseth had cried out herself, a demand for help only Killara fully understood, but that anyone near the sands that day would have understood was distress of some sort. Lightheaded though she was becoming, Killara had sunk down to the sands before her small dragon and stroked her head to sooth her while a Healer came to take care of the injury...hardly the worst that had ever happened on the sands of a Hatching!
Since that day Corseth and Killara have been almost inseparable. Even when not physically together, Corseth often touches Killara's mind and just that slightest sharing often makes both of them happy regardless of what else is going on. At times this can be inconvenient for the Junior Weyrwoman, such as Corseth sharing the feeling of satisfaction and the sudden crunch of bones in her mouth as she caught a Wherry in mid-flight and snapped it's neck...while Killara was in a meeting with the Senior Weyrleaders! They'd had a discussion about boundaries after that and Corseth had refrained from sharing her joy in her hunting unless Killara was actually with her since then.
In her 10 Turns, Corseth has risen to mate three times. The first with Brown Tomorith, and the second and third with Bronze Toropeth. While the flight with Tomorith was, to her, fun, Corseth found the Bronze Toropeth far more satisfying and had to preen over the size of the clutches they'd made and the fact that both clutches with Toropeth had born Queen eggs as well!
Her clutches have looked like this:
with Brown Tomorith:
Hatched 2816
10 Eggs
- 5 Greens
- 4 Blues
- 1 Brown
with Bronze Toropeth:
Hatched 2817 (Hatched One Week after Senior Queen's Clutch)
18 Eggs
- 7 Greens
- 7 Blues
- 1 Brown
- 1 Bronze
- 1 Gold
- 1 White (Female)
with Bronze Toropeth:
Hatched 2821
27 Eggs
- 14 Greens
- 8 Blues
- 2 Browns
- 1 Bronze
- 1 Gold
- 1 White Male
Any Other Info
Corseth has a small scar on her left foreleg from a swimming accident. At barely 1 Turn old she dived deep into a nearby lake after a fish and was so focused on trying to catch her meal that she misjudged the sharp edge of a rock nearby only to feel it slicing deep into her leg! The injury was nearly as bad as the dramatic dragonet made it out to be but it did leave a small scar.
