A Little Deeper
Dia was born in Iceland, to an Icelandic mother and a British father, and spent the first ten years of her life there. At eleven she moved with her parents to London, her father's home town, and has lived there since. Her parents were utterly clueless about the existence of magic, and haven't fully accepted her witchy side, her mother doing better with it due to the Icelandic cultural heritage being so colored with mythical and magical aspects. Going to JWA was odd for Dia, and she really only got used to the magical world by the time she started Hogwarts. It's all still a little weird to her, perhaps as if looking at it from the outside and recognizing humor in situations and facts that magic born kids view normal and mundane. Aka a muggle born classic. Her favorite pastime is music, and while she wishes she could play any instrument, she can't. She's tried, but she doesn't have patience to master the art. Singing is her contribution, and she does it well. Both her parents are musically inclined, and when they gave up on trying to keep her in piano lessons or violin lessons or flute lessons, they put her in a choir. She blossomed there, during practice. However, always seemed to develop a cough when they were supposed to perform. Singing to a crowd isn't a strength of hers. In fact, audience outside of those singing along with her is quite terrifying. Fluent in Icelandic and English, has avoided brooms at all costs and by all means since she first realized they would likely take her up off the ground (and she prefers the ground, thank you), and has no clue how Quidditch works beyond the obvious swatting-balls-around thing, figure skating being the closest she comes to rocking any sport. |
