Appearance

Marie stands tall and had has a lovely hour glass figure that speaks of an older time. Her eyes vibrant and reflective of the emotion she tries to keep stifled within her. Her fashion choices speak of an older time, her body never blatantly flashed for the eyes. She has an air of mystery about her that only adds to the allure and sensuality that seems to flow through every part of her.

Personality

Marie is like the shadows, mysterious, with a dark sense of humor. She seems to keep parts of herself closed off and hidden away from people. So she never really talks about her past, just tid bits here and there. But she is not shy, forward, passionate, hedonistic, strong, and stubborn. She has a passion for music, and is very intelligent though doesn't flaunt it. She seems to have a fiery spirit that struggles with the darkness within. It may seem like she is hiding something deep within her. Only her eyes seem to give away any hint to the caged passion hidden with her.

The mixture of darkness and light having found a delicate balance within herself. She tries to maintain that balance, but there are times when the darkness within almost seems to over shadow the light within her soul. A struggle she continues to have within herself, but for now it is a struggle she is winning.

History

Marie Isabella d'Orléans is the first born to Philippe II, Duke of Orléans. Her father was a member of the royal family of France and served as Regent of the Kingdom from 1715 to 1723. Born at his father's palace at Saint-Cloud, he was known from birth under the title of Duke of Chartres.

In 1692, Philippe married his first cousin, Françoise Marie de Bourbon - the youngest legitimized daughter of Philippe's uncle Louis XIV and Madame de Montespan. On the death of his father in June 1701, Philippe inherited the dukedoms of Orléans, Anjou, Montpensier and Nemours, as well as the princedom of Joinville. New Orleans the city was actually named after the Duke of Orleans, who reigned as Regent for Louis XV from 1715 to 1723.

Marie was the first born of the couple, and it was rumored that she died at child birth. But in reality it was discovered that Phillippe was not the only one that had transgressions within the marriage. It seemed the dislike the couple had for each other drove Marie's mother to have a tryst and from that Marie was born. Her mother pleaded with Phillippe to let her live, even if she is to be sent away that she would be allowed to live. Thankfully he listened to his wife's pleases.

Being sent away Marie was raised by her father, an artist with passion and creativity that could make the world magical. It made for a wonderfully fun childhood, but not for a structured one. Her father did his best, but they always seemed to be wanting. Finally an illness took her father from her. But before he died he told Marie the truth of her birth. And she soon found herself going to face her mother and dismissive step father.

Her mother secretly met with her, trying to tell her of the way she loved her father and her. Why she had to let her go and how she wished to have her close. It was not possible to be Marie Isabella d'Orléans, but it was possible to Marie Vleughels a lady in waiting. At least then she could be close, could live a life of leisure and ease, and could finally have the love a mother she once thought impossible.

The years passed and soon Marie found herself catching the eye of countless suitors. Her mother of course would only allow the best, or the best she could allow for Marie. Her mother wanted a match with on of Marie's cousins from Spain. But Marie's sights fell upon the dark mysterious duke that had come to visit. A handsome man that dared to be bold when he should submit. In truth Marie found herself caught up in her thoughts of this man. He was like a dark lure to the temptations she had tried so long to ignore. Soon she found it impossible to resist. Marie gave him her virginity and love, feeling as he could possibly love her as well. But soon she found out that he was nothing but a lie.

Tainted and ruined rumors spread of her misleads. The passionate love affair that made her worthless in other men’s eyes. Her mother felt betrayed and could not find it in her heart to fight for Marie's right to stay within court. Shunned and afraid Marie found herself alone.

Marie felt betrayed and began using her gift she haunted her family till they swore they would make up for what they had done. They wrote her into the will, saying any future generations that hold her name and proper linage could hold title and deeds to their holdings in New Orleans. This of course held true for the future, only there would be no other Marie Isabella d'Orléans. And she would forever have a home, her heart and the loneliness it felt was another matter completely. .
