Boggart: actually finding her parents, being rejected by her adoptive mother, growing attached to anyone else
Personality: Clever, cunning, leery/guarded, devious, self-aware, and at times disarming.
With Kadence it is wise to remember that one should not judge a book by its cover. She is very aware of her cute blonde exterior and will use it to her advantage whenever it suits her, often playing sweet, innocent, and even slightly ditzy. The truth is however, that Kadence has a sharp mind and a willingness to employ whatever means necessary to accomplish her goals. Her motives are almost always hidden and while she is not the type to be cruel for cruelty's sake, she looks out for herself first above all else.
A little Deeper:
With her parents in hiding somewhere Kadence was left in the care of her father's family for for the first 8 years of her life, a fate that was truly worse than hell. The Hales are not a peaceful bunch by any means and the things she suffered at their hands are burned into her memory forever. She has never completely divulged what happened but the memories are still there, clear as ever even now. She sometimes has nightmares but she refuses to allow the memories to be taken from her. She wants to know and remember because she believes it makes her stronger and she never wants to be a victim again.
Still, days after her 8th birthday, Kadence received what she believes was the best birthday gift ever (not to mention her first ever). She was picked up from the MoM by the Montclairs and taken away from the Hale's for good. She would then enter a modest household full of emotions that were foreign to her, but it went go a long way toward erasing some of the shadows caused by her biological family. It took a bit but she eventually came to accept that the Montclairs wanted her there, particularly Daphne, but it took a long while for the habits she'd developed while with the Hale's to fade.
Presently Kadence refuses to acknowledge aloud that she even has parents as she has grown to hate them, her mother in particular, for leaving her behind. She is grateful to the Montclairs, whom she calls her Auntie and Uncle, for taking her in but she resents that it was even necessary. She hates feeling like a burden, and even though they try to assure her that she is not she can't help but feel that way. She is aware that her mother and Daphne were friends but she only recently learned just how close they had truly been after finding a bunch of old pictures over the summer. This has caused conflicting emotions in Kadence and dredged up a certain amount of curiosity about her mother that she'd never admit to. Daphne has not yet confessed to the fact that she has other family on her mother's side.
