The shinigami are spiritual creatures that help aid those who have passed on to cross over to the other side. In humans when they are in their natural form can cause humans to feel suicidal and other creatures may feel a gloom pass over them. Usually shinigami will not take their spiritual form unless they are needed to help someone cross over. Since they are beings who deal with death they tend to be the best to talk too when one is dealing with death in their lives whether it is animal or family, friend, anything they are willing to help.
