Description
Harry Dresden is a male human wizard, with a talent for thaumaturgy and alchemy working as a private investigator out of Chicago, USA dealing with paranormal crimes and consulting for the Chicago Police Department. Harry's tall (about 6'6"), with dark hair (which, regrettably, is starting to recede), dark eyes and an olive complexion. His most common outfits are what he refers to as "slop-around-the-house clothes" in various shades of brown, and a long leather coat and a Stetson hat—which together make him look like an extra in a Western film. He wears an Enchanted Duster, which has spells to make it work like armor (against bullets, knives, other "mortal" weapons) , carries a staff to help him focus his magical energies. It use to have properties that made it look like a hockey stick to non-magical folks but it to much effort to maintain and keep the spell running so he took the spell off. He also has a shield bracelet (similar to the duster only to create a force field against magical attacks), and his mother's silver pentacle necklace which can be used to call light.
Personality
Harry is basically a good guy. He opened his private practice to help people who needed helping. He's also got a chivalric code — he can't stand seeing a woman or child in distress, and may make questionable judgment calls involving women. Harry is also stubborn as all hell, which can both keep him going against impossible odds and make him unable to give up on things. Harry would make a great knight-errant, for he's brave, honest, fiercely loyal and self-sacrificing. He is also sarcastic, can sometimes have a short temper, a trouble magnet, and quite possibly one of the most inept liars in the world. Bright (even gifted in magical terms), though not particularly academic. He's inclined to be quiet and somewhat slow to answer—unless he's being sarcastic.
History
Dresden is apparently the last living member of his immediate family. His mother, a powerful wizard (from whom he inherited his powers), was murdered by magic by an unknown agent when he was only three years old. She left him a special protection bracelet, which saves his life on at least one occasion. Harry's father, a fairly unsuccessful stage magician with no real magic to speak of, raised his son as well as he could, as they were constantly on the move and short on cash.
According to Morgan, a Warder, they were taken "off the radar" in order to protect them, apparently from whoever killed Harry's mother. Harry's maternal uncle, Justin Morningway, wanted to take the young boy in himself, to raise as a wizard (and heir of his powerful magical bloodline), but Harry's father outright refused, believing that Morningway only wanted to use Harry. Justin retaliated by murdering the man with a voodoo doll and black magic, disguised as a heart attack.
Young Dresden went to live with his uncle, and at his estate met Bob, the ghost of a wizard condemned for eternity to be tied to his own skull. Bob became Harry's tutor in the ways of magic. When Harry discovered that Justin murdered his father, he killed Justin using the same means, a voodoo doll and a ring that Justin had stolen years before. He is horrified at his own actions, and flees the scene. Morningway's death is ruled by the Chicago Coroner's office to be a heart attack, but the wizards' High Council knows better.
They send Morgan out to hunt Harry, but Dresden is protected and hidden by a Red-Court vampire named Bianca. He later repays the favor by discovering which of her subordinates is trying to kill her and take her position. Eventually, Justin's death is ruled to be a self-defense, even though it came by black magic. Council member Ancient Mai is unsatisfied by the verdict, and remains openly hostile towards Dresden. She believes that he will, having used black magic once, use it again
After spending a year or two wandering around America, Harry settled down in Chicago and began working for a small private investigations firm called Ragged Angel Investigations. While he was working there, he met Connie Murphy, a Chicago cop who later became head of Special Investigations, an X-Files-like branch of the Chicago P.D., and one of Harry's best and most loyal friends. After spending a number of years working for Ragged Angel Investigations, Harry went into business for himself, becoming the only wizard in America listed in the Yellow Pages under "wizard."
O&O
He loves women. He likes the way they look, and appreciates how they make him feel. So if he manages to find time to not being attacked, blown up, or murdered in some creative ways he does try to date. He is very romantic, but very passionate. Under normal circumstances Harry is fairly level-headed, unless a pretty woman is involved. He has been known to do stupid things, on more than one occasion, for a pretty smile.
It could be the fact that Harry is constantly putting his life on the line, or maybe it has just been a while, but seduce Harry Dresden and be careful of his animal-like lust. He likes it hard, and is not afraid to tie you up, if say you are worried about losing control of yourself.
Other Notes
As A wizard, Harry has certain powers,he is a self-described magical "thug." He's one of the top thirty or forty wizards in his world in terms of magical strength, which is unheard-of in a wizard as young as he is. He's capable of calling up fire, wind and earth magic of great force. What he lacks is finesse. He is also skilled at ritual magic and at crafting potions. Harry is also quite skilled at finding things and tailing things. If you need to locate lost or missing objects or people, he is the one to go to. Like all wizards from his world, Harry heals fast, and his injuries don't leave scars—or any indication that they ever existed. Because wizard cells duplicate perfectly during the healing process, wizards don't age as fast as ordinary mortals. Dresdenverse wizards also have a potential lifespan of five centuries. With all of this power, it does take a lot out of him. If he uses to much magic to often it tires him, he can pass out, or even kill himself if he tries to hard.
- (there is also what is called a soulgaze, i don't know if you want to try and include that here though. It is described as "When a wizard looks into someone's eyes, he sees more than just what color they are. Eyes are windows to the soul. When I make eye contact for too long, or too intently, I get to peek in through the windows. You can't hide what you are from a wizard's soulgaze. And he can't hide from you. You both see each other for what you are, within, and it's with a clarity so intense that it burns itself into your head.")
