His childhood sweetheart. He preferred to make his career first and to be able to support Margery Finkle before he proposed, so their engagement was a long one. When finally they did marry, they were both nearly forty years old and chances of having a child seemed incredibly slim. In the end however, they did have a child. A boy called Rupert but for him to enter the world, Margery had to leave it and so Daniel grieved for his love and berated himself for all those wasted years. He was 45 years old when his son was born and when he got the position years later working at Hogwarts, he had his only sister Trilby take care of Rupert. He sees him of course on the holidays and the boy now attends the JWA, finally making it to his senior year for September 2013.
