Personality

Duncan is man of class and culture. His speech is riddled with articulation, a fact he seems to enjoy pressing the longer a conversation goes on. In spite of this he's often more laid back then the aristocratic nature many find. He's fond of using pet names for everyone and everything, a fact that he doesn't seem to realize can come off as an insult to the wrong crowd. In everything he seems to embody the persona of a powerful businessman, one that comes from old money at that.

History

Duncan Lancastor was born Duncan Mcrae. It was during the turning point of Middle Age Scotland, where the kingships were finally beginning to rally enough to amount to something. The change in local government was taking over in sweeps, in spite of the consistent English presence, bringing with it new titles and reforms. As a Thane of the nation, this brought him more then minor worries, but it was soon seen that such things were going to be pushed to the bottom of his worry pile.

It was during a point where his land and title were in a crisis that his council urged him to find an ally capable of helping him keep both. This brought him to meet Lady Helena Lancastor, an English widow who's circumstance had lead to a great deal of wealth. He'd brushed the nighttime meetings with this black widow off as secrecy due to resentment between the nations. His mind was quickly changed the night he refused to marry her for the aid he sought, quickly finding himself with fangs in his neck. He was taken from his homeland that night, and has yet to return for more then passing business.

Hate for what Helena had done to him quickly turned into an admiration, one primarily induced by the bite of her fangs. This all lasted for a few years where he ran many of her business ventures. That is until one went south and landed him mortally wounded. Helena decided to preserve him them, and as such he was embraced on what should have been his deathbed. He thought that he act to be godless at the time, a terrible fate he simply didn't understand. Those feelings quickly decayed as time passed and he was forced to take his Siress's last name.

As the years stretched on, Duncan learned the way of his new found lot in life. He remained her faithful servant, continuing to oversee Helena's business operations as the renaissance came and went. He still can't decide if it was the threats or some kinship that made him stay with her for so long, but eventually he became wary of it. It was close to the turn of the century that he began making plans to rebel against her. He'd witnessed many crimes she'd committed, and was looking forward to presenting those to the council.

Duncan rallied some allies to help him in this endeavor, including many of the shifters under his Mistress's control. Yet his coup was stopped on the night he tried to spring it when Helena revealed that she'd figured out his little plan and even set up a contingency to bring him down with her. He was forced to negotiate then, ending in what he likes to call a stalemate. But then what stalemate ends in one person being forced to leave? In truth he had lost, and as part of the deal he was required to vacate from her anywhere near her domain.

This is where Duncan's journey to the new world began. After wandering through Europe for a small time, collecting the considerable wealth he'd left stashed over the centuries, he began to plot an expedition to this quickly growing nation. One that had, by all accounts, rebelled in just the way he'd planned to with his Siress. He was in Spain for most of this planning, and finally after a long period of preparation, he was ready. The journey was of course dangerous for one of his kind, but luckily his time and money spent on the trip had not been a waste.

There was much to do once arriving in America. Duncan spent much of his early days setting himself up in a situation to observe the business situations in the growing nation. Finally he felt he'd absorbed enough of the culture to start to in on his own, and opened a series of a bars in southern California for his first act. This served him well for some time, but again the terrain seemed to shift beneath his feet. The scenery was changing for bar-life, and his nighttime exploits didn't allow him the time to keep up. So he sold the businesses and began to move on to his next venture.

This had Duncan leaving the familiar swelter of California for the first time since he'd arrived in the US. He did what traveling he could with a special carriage, eventually finding himself further north where he realized the nights were longer and the people were different. It was here he set up some restaurants that lasted until well after the industrial revolution, entering him into the fray when organized crime finally became a thing. He thrived in the environment, his cunning allowing him to amass quite the fortune in this vile trade.

Duncan primarily stuck to organizing bootleggers for Alcohol during prohibition, and moved to drugs and prostitution. The way he treated his girls and clients set him far apart from the rest, gaining him many the nickname and rep in spite of what was viewed as eccentricities. The war on drugs changed this life for him again, but luckily he'd grown accustom to shifting tides. It was during the end of the eighties when he made his way back to California with a new goal in mind. He took quite a few detours on the way, researching his new business propositions but finally arrived back 'home' during the mid nineties.

Duncan Realized he needed some fronting cash to grease palms in the hierarchy, as well as to start this new venture of his, so he used the money he had saved to start an importing company that traded goods with Mexico. It was of course a front for some minor illegal activities, as well as to gain him some connections to make things move smoother. After Trafficking like this for a while, and the change in power that happened, he decided it was finally time to present the idea of his fighters ring those now in charge. (
