Personality

Cyril is probably similar to what jumps to most peoples' minds when they hear the word "punk." His hair is wild and spiked; he wears leather, plaid, and denim all adorned with various added patches, pins, straps, chains, spikes, and other items; is frequently loud; and has a history of being something of a delinquent. He is somewhat abrasive and snarky in conversation, and has a habit of handing out nicknames to those around him whether they like them or not. Regardless, if he does like someone, he's loyal to a fault. He pretends to often blow off his schoolwork, but his assignments are always in on time and he tends to score at least above the average on his tests. He takes very little seriously, including himself, and frequently finds himself a center of attention, though it's not always positive attention.

A Little Deeper

Cyril is an only child. His parents met as the punk movement was beginning to lose steam, dated for a few years, then separated while Samantha spent several years out of Great Britain on curse-breaking business. However, they eventually reunited in the mid 90's, and decided to settle down and marry when they discovered that Samantha was pregnant. When Cyril was five, he managed to light one of his father's cigarettes by accident with magic, and his mother figured it was time to open up Cyril Sr. to the wizarding world. Of course, it required a few demonstrations on Samantha's part to convince him, but he went along with it eventually. Unfortunately, it wouldn't last long. Cyril Sr. was involved in a traffic accident on his motorcycle when Cyril was six, and died. Given his mother's profession and his paternal grandparents' unawareness of the wizarding world, Cyril spent up about six months out of each year under the care of Victor and Heather Hawtrey. His relationship with them gradually more strained as he got older and sought more independence, to the point that when he was fifteen his mother simply began allowing him to stay alone rather than stay with his grandparents.
