Appearance
He has short brown hair that he wears in small spikes or in a fashionable disarray. His hazel eyes are often mistaken for brown as they are on the darker side, but there is too much green to them to be called brown. He has enough muscles to be called athletic, but he isn't bulky by any stretch; he looks good in a suit even if he hates being dress so formal. Her prefer casual, comfortable clothes.
Personality
Charles is quiet, introspective. He tends to overthink things and even if he has accumulated enough experience to be self-confident, he often second-guesses himself. He doesn’t have a prominently dominant personality, but nor is he a pushover. He simply does not derive pleasure from dominating. He is a hopeless romantic and believes in finding his soulmates, he only has the luxury of taking longer to find her. Charles is definitely what would be considered a good guy; loyal, honest, patient and caring.
He has a love for books, which explains his small business in downtown Marshboro, and of jigsaw puzzles. He never sleeps, but he isn't beyond going to bed with his lover if she wants to fall asleep in his arms. He knows his way around computers enough to function but has no affinities with them or with smartphones.
Over the years, his personality did not change much, but rather refined itself. When he is angry, he may become rash and if the source of his anger is human, he might very well bite to kill. It takes a lot to anger him though, and he tends to ignore sources of annoyance, so his buttons need a lot of pushing before he gets there. His empathy also makes it very hard for him to feed off humans if they are unwilling, or to remain around unhappy ones for a long period of time without feeling the need to try and make them happy.

History
Charles is born in Glasgow, Scotland. His father was a businessman, not rich, but still successful enough to home and feed his family of 7. He lived a rather quiet life as a child, being the youngest he was often picked on by the ones before him while their parents were too busy with the business to notice. He was a shy kid, for whom learning to read was a revelation. He became the intellectual of the family, spending more time with books than with people. Noticing, his father invested some money in his education and never regretted it. Charles had good grades and learned everything like a sponge.
He quickly became his father’s assistant, learning the trade in hopes to one day take over the business. By doing so, he relieved the older sons and daughters who had no interest in managing the business that brought food to their table until they were married off. Charles fell in love with a beautiful pale girl. She had something exotic about her that lured him in. He was transformed into a vampire by her the night he proposed. Once he realized the horror that he had become, Charles disappeared without a note.
Scotland went through some harsh times shortly after, with a famine that lasted 10 years and several conflicts, he heard that his mortal family had suffered a quantity of losses, in lives and in business. He set out to travel in Europe, haunting battlefields where one more dead or missing would not raise suspicion. He made the journey west at the beginning of the twenty-first century, and quickly found the coven of someone he had met along the way, a beautiful redhead.
While he recognized the pros of having blood dolls over hunting and dealing with the consequences of a dead body, Charles loathes the idea of keeping mortal captives, robbing them of hopes and dreams. He hates seeing how some cruise through days and nights like zombies, thinking it would be more humane to kill them and free their soul.
