Personality: A fairly cheerful fellow Bradley seems to sport a permanent smile that reaches the blue of his eyes. Many do not believe him when he tells them that as a boy he was not the most sought after by young women, seeing him as nerdy and quiet. It wasn’t until he left England fresh out of school to study in Europe that he came into his confidence and with that, his natural good looks emerged. Some call him a vain man, and in many ways he is. However Bradley still expects to see the shy nerdy young man in the mirror and can become mesmerized by his metamorphosis staring back at him through the looking glass. His love for all things ancient shows in the artifacts he proudly displays in his office and quarters and the books he often tots around with him. Oblivious to flirting, he isn’t overly serious and can joke around with his fellow teachers and staff, however he does tend to be in the dark over subtle hints of the sexual nature. His one serious relationship ended badly when he returned home after a lengthy trip overseas to find his fiancée in a compromising position with his once best friend who was considered to be closer than a brother. Bradley has not uttered either name of the unfaithful pair since, though there was a rumor that the couple was now married and with child. Now gun shy, Bradley often buries himself in his work and research, planning explorations to uncover the worlds mysteries one at a time.
History: With the death of his mother just after his 5th birthday Bradley became extremely close with his father. He idolized his dad, seeing him as his hero and protector. They travelled the world often, with Bradley growing up comfortably tagging along with his father and learning the ins and outs of archaeology. Bradley first became interested in the runes after seeing the Bewcastle monument as a young boy. His father Horus, a muggle married to a witch, was a brilliant archaeologist, and Bradley thought that he knew everything! However upon a visit to the monument in a Cumbrian churchyard his world was challenged when he asked his father what the writing on it was. Horus was stumped! This made such a big impression on the young Bradley, he became determined there and then to learn all about the strange angular symbols that were unknown to the great and wise Horus Hudson. His interest grew when he was at last able to take the elective course in Hogwarts, studying under Professor Bathsheda Babbling. And so, for more years he began researching the many alphabets and symbols of the runes, hounding his professors and squirreling away every piece of runic knowledge that came his way.He spent his time crafting runes while other boys devoted their time to Quidditch. After graduating from Hogwarts, Bradley dedicated his time in researching ancient runes, ancient civilizations and learning the many dialects used throughout the world. He spent years in muggle universities absorbing as much information as possible as well as working alongside his father on many archaeology digs. After several impressive papers were published, both in the muggle world as well as the wizarding world, Bradley was approached by Durmstrang and offered a teaching position there. After two years of teaching Bradley found he loved sharing his love of ancient runes with young minds though longed for the familiarity of home. His father grew ill and because of this Brad chose to leave Durmstrang and dedicate himself to his new project, writing a detailed paper on the alphabet and its history over the years. Upon hearing of an opening in Hogwarts for the Ancient Runes teaching position Bradley instantly sent off his resume in hope that he would be considered for the position. |
