Appearance

Aaron is a lean vampire standing nearly six feet tall. Dressed in his usual garb he does not appear imposing in the least, but his body is very well cared for, and was at the peak of physical condition when he was turned, and remains so to this day.

He appears to be nineteen years old – the age he was when he was turned. But his true age is far older, having been born during the Dark Ages.

He keeps his black hair short, and bright blue eyes take in everything around him. He has a fair complexion and an innocent look about him, which oftentimes aids him when he plays the innocent act.

Personality

Aaron is somewhat strange amongst vampires. He often longs for his old human life, despite his age. He sees the world advancing around him, but oftentimes he doesn't -feel- it. He is incredibly kind to the human race, which he still feels he is apart of despite his condition. Even when he feeds, he is almost apologetic.

Aaron does not trust others easily, but when he does, he trusts them completely. Whether a friend or lover, he can be rather possessive of the people he is closest to – afraid to lose them, afraid they'll flee once they come to discover his true nature.

Aaron believes in chivalry, even though such a notion has mostly died out in today's world. He is kind to people unless they prove they don't deserve it, and he rarely instigates conflict unless it's for a very solid reason.

One should not mistake politeness or humility for indecisiveness. Aaron is quick to act, and follows his instincts honed over nearly a millennium of experiences, trials, successes and failures.

History

Aaron was born in 1040 AD to a pair of farming peasants in England. On his 19th name-day, a festival was held not only in his honor, but also in honor of the Fall Equinox. It was a grand celebration, and late in the night, he was approached by the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, someone completely unfamiliar to him.

That should have warned him off the bat, but hormones being what they were, he ignored the warnings in his mind. They stole away into the night, finding privacy for their tryst. During that night of passion, he lost his virginity – and his humanity.

Aaron fled his family after the turning, fearing that he might harm them, his initial thirst for blood being so great that he nearly attacked his own sister. He fled – and never saw his family again. He sought out the only person who could help him – his sire, and she took him in.

For a hundred years he stood at her side, living a life of unabated debauchery. Orgies of blood, lust, sex, abductions, and torture were the flavor of every night he spent with his sire, a woman who, though beautiful, had terrible urges and treated humans as if they were little more than cattle.

After nearly a century of this, Aaron found the chance to escape – and he did. He struck out on his own, drifting from place to place, living much of his life in the countryside away from other people. But always the thirst would drive him back toward humanity, and when he could take it no further he would feed.

Sometime around the year 1700, his sire found him again. She looked exactly the same, and despite being away from her for over 600 years, it was as if nothing had changed. But -Aaron- had changed. This put sire and fledgling at odds, and Aaron sought to escape once again.

He was eventually cornered by his sire and a pair of her newest 'partners'. A one-sided battle ensued, and Aaron was quickly subdued. His sire was about to end him when someone came to his aid, a large blond vampire who quickly struck from the shadows, his aim true, staking Aaron's sire there on the spot.

The two partners were then quickly put down by the two older vampires, and then words were shared. The blond's name was Craig Jensen, a Dane who had a personal grudge against the woman they had just ended: she had turned him, as well.

Without his aid, Aaron would be dead and he knew it, and on that night he swore eternal servitude to Craig, not caring that he, himself was roughly twice as old as the Dane. Craig had saved his life – such as it was – and Aaron felt that he owed him everything.

Through the years, the two kept in close contact, and aided each other on numerous occasions. Always, Aaron answered Craig's call. They became as close as brothers might be, and in a way they were – sharing the same sire.

Sometime in August, 2013...

The cell phone rang, and Aaron picked it up, checking the call ID. It was Craig. Aaron blinked, he hadn't heard from Craig in months, and he was sure that Craig needed him for something.

“Excuse me,” Aaron said as he rose from his seat, leaving the others gathered at the table waiting. He made his way into the living room where he had a bit of privacy before answering.

“Craig,” he said.

“Aaron,” the familiar voice replied. “I need you.”

“When and where?” Aaron replied.

“Now. A small settlement in northern Alaska named Nuiqsut. You'll need to take a plane to Fairbanks first, then catch a supply run to Nuiqsut.”

“Nuqsuit... Alaska?” Aaron replied.

“Yes, Alaska. Does that pose a problem?”

“No, of course not. It's just... really freakin' cold there,” he said with a soft chuckle. The voice on the other end did not share his humor.

“When you arrive in the settlement, you will need to seek out Anastasiya Glazkov. You are to offer her your assistance in any way possible. She is younger than you. Advise her, help her, and do your best to protect her, she will likely need it. She can fill you in once you arrive.”

Aaron nodded as he heard Craig give him the information, not questioning it at all. “What shall I do on a day to day basis?” he asked.

Craig replied. “You will run the motel there. It's small and should not prove to be too much work. That will allow you to use your ability against any travelers that pass through who seek out a place to stay. I don't have to remind you that any humans who learn about any details of the operation must be kept from leaving.”

“I understand,” Aaron replied. He wanted to ask about dolls, about blood, but he decided not to. He could ask that of the vampires already there.

“This is important to me,” Craig replied. “I appreciate your taking care of this personally.”

“Will do, sir. Anything else?”

“No,” Craig said, and then after a brief pause. “It's good to hear from you, Aaron.”

“Likewise, sir,” Aaron replied – and then heard Craig hang-up.

Aaron returned to the dining room, and all eyes turned to him.

“Well?” one of the men said, the one sitting at the head of thet able.

Aaron sighed. “Sorry, guys. I have to go.”

Several voices rose at once, all moaning and groaning in protest. Moments later when they quieted, the larger male at the head of the table spoke.

“Aaron, you know how important tonight is. We've been working on this for -two years-,” he said, as if two years was an enormous amount of time. To a human, it was, Aaron knew. But he himself wasn't human. Two years to him was a blink of an eye practically.

Aaron nodded sullenly, but could say nothing.

“Tonight is the night that you and your companions finally retrieve the dwarven artifact Skysplitter, and return it to its rightful home of Hammerfell, delivering peace and prosperity to the dwarves of Eventide once more!”

Aaron sighed, nodding. “I know, and I was -really- looking forward to hitting tenth level, too. New prestige class and everything.”

“Come on,” another one of the males said, sitting off to the right of the DM. “Aaron, can't you handle that work-stuff tomorrow, and just enjoy the game tonight?”

To the side of him, Tina, the sole female in the group, batted her eyes at Aaron. “Pleeeeease?” she asked, and for a moment – Aaron teetered. He had long thought about asking beautiful Tina out, but had always put it off for one reason or another. Now, he regretted it something fierce.

“I'm sorry guys, if my boss calls this late, then it's urgent,” he said.

“Well, I'll just have to NPC your character, and he'll only get half experience,” the DM replied grimly.

Aaron groaned. “Rick, come on...”

The DM shook his head. “Well, how long are you going to be gone? If you can be back at the next session... maybe I'll let you off the hook and cut you a little break.”

But Aaron had no idea. He could be gone a week, a month – a decade. It just depended on what was going on, but if Craig had called him like this, then Aaron could be assured that it would take awhile.

“It will probably be a few weeks,” he said, truthfully.

“That means -I- get to be party leader,” another one of the guys said with a victorious grin on his face. “Tina babe, your character can stay in MY tent now,” he said.

“Oh gross, over my dead body,” Tina quickly replied. The group laughed at that, and Aaron could only take the sight of them in one last time. He knew he'd likely not see them for quite some time. They were the -one thing- that made him feel human again at times.

“Thanks guys... for everything,” he said as he gathered his stuff up – and departed as quickly as he could, and not just because Craig's need was great. With promises of emails and such, Aaron departed, heading for his apartment nearby. There he packed and prepared, realizing that he didn't really have 'winter attire', and decided to buy some once he arrived in Fairbanks.

Alaska. Craig must have REALLY been pissed with him for some reason.
