I like that article.  Seriously, it is just a word.  It's a word used by ignorant people to show how they feel.  Making it so the word can't be used on TV isn't going to suddenly make ignorant people become enlightened.  They are going to continue to be ignorant, and they'll probably come up with a new word.

I don't disagree with fighting to be accepted, but one must pick their battles.  Carrying on like this is basically letting people who use this word know that they're getting to you, which is what they want.
