Microwaves (?!)
« on: October 03, 2010, 01:59:23 pm »
I live in rented accomodation, and the flat has some kind of very powerful  / old / dangerous microwave. I suspect this because every time we turn the thing on, my wireless goes down. Is there something I can do to shield the back of the device? Is there something I can do to my wireless network?

My first thought was: Get a new microwave. The old ones are not very reliable, when it comes to health.

>_>

Newer microwaves may be less disruptive, but you can also create reflectors to change how your wireless operates, increasing its strength over some areas and decreasing it in others. See e.g. http://binarywolf.com/249/

Thanks for the links. My wifi hub now looks like it has been MacGyverised! Still, better connection and the hub is hidden away in a cupboard.
