Welcome to the Hotel California (VtR) (Undecided)

The Eagles - Hotel California (Original)

On a dark desert road,  an exquisite hotel sits amongst the howling winds and the whipping sands.  The building, seems to appear in different ways with the passing of each decade,  renovating itself seemingly instantly as the idea of what “Posh” changes.

It’s a mystery,  many travelers have heard of it,  and many people have claimed to pass by the strange building hearing the songs that its occupants sing.  Yet,  no one has actually claimed to be inside.  Of course,  the place seems to  be in tip top condition from outside…  that means business must be booming so someone has to have stayed there.  Yet,  it’s as if they never come back out.  Well…  that’s not entirely true.

What these stories don’t mention,  is the fact that this little get away is the haven of a coterie of kindred,  who established the “Hotel” or at the time safe haven during the gold rush.  The building was magnificent, even then, and it seemed to call out to road weary travelers.  It offered sanctuary and luxuries that many hadn’t seen since they started down the long hard road.  The travelers of course provided the vampires with an ample supply of food, as long as they never got greedy.

Somehow the hotel always has a vacancy or two.  The idyllic setting itself keeps  many of the guests locked within the building,  unable to break away from the luxuries…  and the sensations that they experience in the beautiful hotel.  If that wasn’t enough,  drinks are spiked with a dose of vitae…  to keep the humans addicted.  If both of these fail,  the staff itself is made up of ancient ghouls who happily serve their lords and ladies every whim.

A new batch of residents is about to stumble upon the hotel California for the first time.  Will they learn to live happily within these walls,  become thralls to the Kindred that hold sway,  or perhaps even attempt to tear themselves free,  becoming only the only group to ever escape these confines since a rather popular band  who later immortalized the hotel in song.

OOC:
I’m looking for 2-3 kindred
Ghouls 1+ ghouls
And 5+ humans.

Character creation will vary depending on the character type,  this is more or less a check to see if anyone would be

VtR stands for Vampire: the Requiem, a roleplaying game by White Wolf.  Character creation is fairly simple if you're playing a human rather than a vampire, although a vampire needs to use the rules more because of their powers.

Ghouls are humans who have drunk vampire blood.  They have some vampire powers, but a crippling addiction to vampire blood.

I'm interested in playing a journalist trying to do a travel article on the Hotel California.  He's his own photographer too.

Is it system?

I am interested in playing a kindred.  I had an idea for a gangrel but don't know if it would work for this.  I had an idea for a Gangrel from a slightly well to do family.  She often makes large contributions to nature/wild life charities.

If not, I wouldn't mind playing one of the human victims.

I will be using the vampire the requiem rules,  as for making contributions to wild life and other nature based charities it's doable,  though... I'm kinda trying to keep  the game focused on the hotel itself.  The outside world won't really be important unless it comes to you and not vice versa.

Thats what I was thinking.  Perhaps I will play a human victim then who was just passing through but finds herself unable to leave...

In fact, I think I'm brewing up an idea

Alright,  humans will be made using the typical rules found in the WoD books.  Also,  mortals will all have access to the profession merit in Hunter the Vigil...  though,  I will not be allowing access to any of the professions tailored for combat.

I am thinking a young transexual woman who is on her way to a doctor cross country who is going to do her final surgies for cheap.  As I do not have Hunter, is there a student background?

Sounds good,  a few kindred would be nice.

Also,  I can help people with character creation if they don't know the rules.

This peaked my interest.  I haven't played Requiem yet but have played Masquerade looooong ago.  Would love to play a Kindred.  Since the Malkavians are "gone" maybe a Ventrue with the malkavian tendencies.  Will have to try and get my hands on the requiem book and read up on it.  I like playing crazy.  :D

Actually Malkavians have been reprinted in the ventrue handbook, complete with dementation.  I think they'd be quite fun in such a in closed setting.

Oh really?  I don't know to much of Requiem just brief research done in the past but I always loved playing Malkavian in Masquerade.  I'll see about finding the handbooks.  Would be nice to have them anyways.

Are we doing full CS's?

I would like complete character sheets,  I kinda like to keep things moderated.

Found a great website.  It lets you generate blank character sheets and fill them in.  It then stores it with a number so you can recall it.  I assume you can maybe call up someone else's sheet with their number.  You need to register but it looks handy.

This sounds like something I've never tried anything remotely like before. It would be the first system game I've played on here or anywhere else. Do you mind such a terrible lack of experience?

Can I sign up as a human? Kindred or ghoul sounds fun but daunting!
