Interest Check: Adventures in Another World (Fabula Ultima High Fantasy)

The setup is simple: One day you fall asleep in your boring, mundane, modern life. But instead of waking up in your bed you find yourself surrounded by strange people that look straight out of a JRPG. That's right, you got isekai'd.

I've had an itch for Fabula Ultima since seeing the system a little over a year ago. It's a nice simple system with lots of flexibility. Since I figured the odds of finding someone to run the system were low, I decided to start up a game myself. I'd like at least 4 people confirmed to get things rolling further. The way the flow of the game works means players happen first and then we figure out the setting details.

Tentatively interested.  I am  reading through the Press Start Introductory adventure. I have heard good things about this game from a group I game with.

I would like to hear more of the setting the characters are getting Isekai'd into before I make any final decisions.

I’m looking at one level of Chanter and four levels of Guardian.  For the new players, that means that I’ll have two shields instead of a weapon and I can sing during a fight to refresh everyone else’s MP.

Edit: or I may go for Commander along with Guardian, depending on what all we get.

Shadow, can my character have some minor physical changes upon coming into this world, or should I look identical to how my character would look on Earth?

More edit: Definitely going Guardian with the double shields but I may swap other stuff.

Looks like we have Inkybus, Cherry Ronde, maybe Marie Reynolds, Revelation, AndyZ, and c0i9z (mind if I just call you c0?)

For the setting, we can go 1 of 2 routes- Fabula Ultima ia supposed to be a world created by everyone. I could do all the creation myself (nations, history, etc) or each person could have an assigned region to write about. The first option means we'll likely have a coherent world but players will not have investment as much while the second option means everyone gets to help make the setting but on the other hand it means regions could vary wildly and if someone drops or doesn't write their region by the time we get there someone else will have to pick up the slack.

The advantage of making this an isekai of course, is that we can reveal the setting as the story goes. It'll be a fairly standard setup- you've been summoned to the world for an unknown reason but have found yourself in a strange land. Beyond that.... you could be from the modern day, from the 1920s, from 2099, you could even write an expy of yourself if you really want.

Andy, it wouldn't be in the spirit of Isekai if you were forced to stay in your original form. Just remember the confines of the system (so no playing a dragon) but otherwise you're free to make changes.

I have all 3 source books, so all classes will be allowed with the exception of the pilot (as it doesn't really fit a fantasy setting unless you can give me a reason why it would).

Yeah I am okay with doing the standard collective world building. So I take it  we are going High Fantasy with this? What are some major themes you had in mind for the world just to use as a starting point? Is this game going to be a more standard oriented adventuring game or a Kink/sex driven game? Hmm well if you do the assigned regions thing I would  make it  the first step in character creation. Maybe no more than a paragraph or 2, Just to give a base idea and in that region have them at least include a city, village, town or at least a nomadic culture and its routes and traditions so we have places to use as an origin for that step in character creation.

What would everyone like for a level of kink/sex? I'm fine with anything between "rarely happens" and "we're playing lewd dungeon here".

And on a similar note, what category would folks be fine with this going under?

I preface this by saying that I am alright with any option that is above our world's level of kink. My own personal preference is more lewd stuff happening than usual, like in Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.

As for the category, I'm alright with any of them as long as my ons and off apply. Which can include extreme.

Edit: in regards to worldbuilding, I am ready to contribute as well. Though if the group would rather go into the world blind that is fine too, since it does take surprise out of the game if one is in a region they built up themselves and all that.

I'm fine with collective worldbuilding and I think that'd be dandy really - it's a lot of fun to shape a world.

As far as kink/sex level, I tend to be open but I also don't generally join group games for a smut focus. That being said, I can certainly do it as long as it's not something everyone has to get dragged into all of the time. IE: If one of the players wants to go into the goblin sex mines, that's totally fine with me as long as I don't have to jump in along with them if I ain't feeling it.

So us becoming other races is OK? Would things like monster girls/boys be OK within reason? IE: Humanoid/bipedal in nature, human sized, etc? Not saying I want to go for one but I have a few ideas in my head, and some of them might be monster person-y. I'm kinda leaning towards to something with Darkblade but I'm pretty open.

I'm interested in both the concept and the system, although I know nothing about the system beyond the concept (except the fact that its name is pretty ballsy).

I'm more than good with collective worldbuilding (especially on Elliquiy), and my preference is for sexual content to be more incidental (but I don't have a problem going bluer if that's the group's decision).

Personally I skew toward consensual romantic or friendly sex where the only power dynamic is respected experience or authority, but most games I'm involved with on Elliquiy end up in NC-Exotic because of the high-fantasy metahuman element and not because of the presence of force or coercion.  But this being an anime/JRPG-themed game, I definitely want to know up front where everyone comes down on non-con exposure and voyeurism at a bare minimum no pun intended. 

For the record, I am for it, so long as reactions to it are no more severe than momentary anger that is soothed by momentary cartoon violence, but I'm not comfortable with any exploration of the very real consequences of humiliation and indirect sexual abuse.  If that's what players want or expect, I'd just as soon go without.

I will say I'm probably gonna cut off interest at the first 6 folks, that's my upper limit for a manageable group. If I can get a co-GM then obviously the group size could increase.

I definitely would love to play a monster-type. Maybe a goblin? And I'd be happy to define a section of the world.

Having things be at least somewhat sexy would be a plus for me.

Hey love to join something like this. I know dragon is off limit but some form of dragonblooded person or were dragon type possible?

Also kick wise i am very open just don't like anything involving bodily waste or extreme sexual violence.

I know the system very well, and I ran it for a little bit, but I don’t feel up to running right now.

I plan on the Earth version being a weak, asthmatic human boy who always dreamed of fantasy and adventure, and didn’t expect the various changes but now knows that she can do all sorts of fun stuff.  Primarily planning elf.

Abother thing I’d ask for would be letting the shields reflexively appear and disappear, or maybe even be magical projections but still follow all the same conventional rules.  We might even consider having armor do this.

When I last ran an Isekai, I had it that the champions couldn’t be involved in a pregnancy in either direction, for obvious reasons.  It’s something to consider.

As far as construction of the setting, I had very good experience with a Discord server for that.  It’ll help if someone can do maps but it’s not 100% necessary.

Oh, and as far as kinks, no real preference.  I doubt anyone will want anything that will squick me and I don’t have the highest kink in the group.

I am torn between the options of playing a former warehouse grunt worker who joined a rebellious movement with a Vengeance theme against oppressors, who would be a Fury, Weaponsmaster and Rogue mix... or maybe play a prisoner of a failed insurrection with an Ambition theme who'd be a Rogue, Sharpshooter and Tinkerer mix...

Decisions, decisions...

Either way, they would both come from a slightly alt-historical Ireland between the late 60s and early 90s.

Finally, these characters really resonate with Robin Hood and would love nothing more than to stick it to the Man and be a royal pain to those who hoard wealth while others suffer from very easily preventable causes.

Rising of the Shield Hero very minor spoiler: it has precedence for having all the champions coming from alt versions of a world.  They all come from Japan but all think a different person is President.

A question that occurs to me for the other players as per world building is prejudice.  If we have characters who are from monster races, should they be discriminated against?

We’ll also probably want a capital home city that we got summoned from.  Based on the desire for kink, I imagine the city is very active in that regard.

By the PCs, up to the players. By the NPCs, I do not care, though either character I will play will take umbrage with whoever the bigot may be. Any further social scene with the bigot is probably going to feature my characters either ignoring or being rude to the bigot if they can get away with it with little consequence.
