Working in Tandem..ause (Pokemon Plot Roleplay)

Premise
In the Gen 1 games, Bill accidentally turned himself into a Clefairy. So I"m looking to do an RP where the same thing will happen to our characters. But instead of both of them being turned separate Pokemon, they'll be turned into a one half of the same Tandemaus. Now trapped in these new, unusual bodies, they'll have to work together to survive and hopefully change back.

What I'm Looking For
The core of what I'm looking for is to focus on being a Tandemaus and everything that entails.

For example, how a Tandemaus works with two bodies. The way I see it is that they are two separate bodies with their own sentience, thoughts, etc. But as soon as they're mated, they form an intense bond that cannot be broken. They are in sync on such a level that they always know how the other feels, and their emotions can influence the other. 

And this is how our characters would operate. As soon as they become a Tandemause, they're already considered mated. Even if they were complete strangers before, they would feel a bond with each other they can't describe. Deep love and affection towards the other, and a burning desire to help the other, and feeling physically sick if they're separated. So in that vane, our character's relationship will be a huge focus

I'd also love to deal with the learning curve of being a Pokemon now. They have no experience with it, would essentially be starting at Level 1! Or maybe one or both of them were trainers before and that transfers to experience as a Pokemon. Still, learning how to use their attacks is going to be something they'd have to do. It comes as an instinct, but...well there's a reason they don't learn Population Bomb until Level 48! They need to practice.

Counter ideas are always loved though.

Also, this is more plot focused. While 'evolving' will probably be a thing that happens, it is not the focus of this RP.

Setups
A couple possible ways this could have happened to our characters. But if you have your own feel free to suggest it to me

Lab Accident - This one is closer to the inspiration of Bill's accident. Our characters work at a research lab together. Whatever experiment they're doing, it goes wrong, and they are now a Tandemaus. What's worse is, the lab doesn't have what they need to fix it. Now they have work as a Pokemon to hopefully reverse this.

Guinea Pigs - Our characters are kidnapped by an evil organization, who experiments on them and turns them into a Tandemaus against their will! They escape, but now are alone in the wild, with the team hunting them. Can they survive? Can they change back?

Mystery Dungeon - The typical Mystery Dungeon setup for our characters where they're humans who one day wake up as a Pokemon. But of course, like the prompt suggests, they're a Tandemaus.
