The world of monsters is past. Humanity drove them to the edge of extinction centuries ago, in the age of iron and steel. Magic dwindled as the monsters that carried the magic died. So the remaining monsters retreated, hiding away, letting humanity believe that they were gone, and eventually that they were just myths.

Four decades ago, the adventurer Nevada Smith discovered an underground city, connecting the world of the monsters and the world of humans once again. And instead of killing them... humanity decided to give them a chance. For the first twenty years, they were on a sort of probation, relying on their good behavior to mingle in with society. They were second-class citizens, confined to shanty towns at first, then slums. Once the probation ended, they were allowed, and even encouraged, to expand out into the world. And during the probation time, people discovered that monsters and humans were... compatible. More or less.

Now that time is past. Our characters grew up as the monsters were integrating into the world. They're now a novelty, and they've been part of the world for all of our lifetimes. Magic is slowly returning, and people have discovered that not only are humans and monsters compatible, that's a fundamental necessity for the return of magic.

So an enterprising television producer, Chuck Ferry, is creating a new television show: Monster Girl Dating Game. On one side of the stage is a male human player. He's cordoned off, doesn't get to see the other side of the stage. And on the other side of the stage are three (or more) monster girls, all vying for cash and the chance to date the male player. He'll ask questions, both sides will engage in some word games, and ultimately, he (or the audience) will pick which monster girl will be going on a date with him.

This is an Urban Fantasy world (mostly like the real world, but with monsters and a little magic) You'll be playing the monster girls, competing with each other for cash, prizes, and the chance to date the human boy. They're all more or less conventionally attractive, and the game is actively hiding details that might be less appealing to the audience.

I'll be playing the boy, perhaps a little clueless, but eager to meet and date a monster girl... or several. I paid for the chance to be on the show, and won the lottery drawing to be on the show.

Where does it go after that? Who knows! (We can discuss what we want from the arc of the story, of course)

Update and more information: All Monsters (and, by extension, Monster Girls) are effectively the same race, genetically speaking. However, they have some magical genes that define what monster they become shortly after birth. It's not uncommon for a Wolfman father and Kraken mother to have a Harpy daughter or Cerberus son.

As a 1-on-1 game, I'd want my writing partner to make and play three characters during the segment of the story in the game show, but if you have a preference for which of the three wins, we can work that out in the background. =^_^=
