Greetings from a proud...well, geek. Obviously.  :P

This is (planned) to be a long-standing search thread. I had one but it seems to have been lost to the digital abyss. :o

This thread is for specific ideas or at least as specific as I can manage. I tried to write them as prompts from your perspective unless were noted. Cravings marked *

I also have a general list of my usual interests in stories as well as my O/Os here. Please refer to it before replying.

"Original" Ideas

- Love and Steel: Generic medieval setting. Romantic. M(you)xF(me). ** Spoken For!
     - You’re a lowly knight in service to your Lord, the Marquess of Kinbrook. He has ruled the march benevolently as his forefathers did before him. You have never questioned your loyalty to him. While he has men who serve him that have more power, more money, and more station, he has never been unkind to you or your family. So, it wasn’t that strange when he asked for you to take an audience with him. The household is empty. You look at the summons paper. It says to just let yourself in and make your way to his study. Odd. However, as you enter the master’s study, the mood is not one of a cordial meeting. He is tense and more agitated than normal. You greet him and he replies more formally than usual. “You can enter now” he calls towards the west door. A young woman enters, dressed all in black with a veil. You are surprised. Why would a young widow be here? You are even more surprised when the young woman addresses his Lordship as Father! Why is her lady dressed as a widow? She isn’t married or betrothed. His Lordship apologizes for the strangeness and explains. The kingdom of Nevalon has been invaded by its neighbor to the east: the Empire of Draetus. The capital has fallen and there has been no word from the royal family. He tasked you with the task of secreting his daughter and only child out of the kingdom. His wife’s brother is a count in the neighboring kingdom of Rouvia to the south. As you travel, you must face the dangers of the fickle autumn weather, invading soldiers, and even betrayal by your own. Can you make it? More importantly, can fight the obvious attraction you feel towards her Ladyship?
   - A variation can have her be the king’s daughter and sole survivor.
- Sex, if any, would happen very late in the story after much romancing and yearning. Open to various endings: they marry despite great odds/convention, they consummate but never end up together, or nothing ever actually happens, and they part ways.

- Court of Love: Generic medieval setting. Romantic. M(you)xF(me).
     - This is a vague one. It's a story of courtly love. This will take more discussion due to the MANY interpretations of the tradition. This may be between two young unmarried courtiers, children of nobles, or a lady/lord's daughter and a knight. She might also be in a loveless arranged marriage.

- A Convenient Match: General medieval setting. Romantic. M(you)xF(me).
     - Again, vague. The title is both true and false at the same time. The marriage is convenient...for someone else. It is arranged, so obviously someone benefited from it. Maybe her father "married up" through her. Maybe it stopped a war. One thing is for sure, this is not convenient for our newlyweds. Of course, the goal is for them to fall in love. They may or may not be nobility or royalty.

- Witch Hunt: High Fantasy. May or may not be romantic. M(me)xF(You)
      - In your universe, the gods are approachable beings with whom anyone can converse and interact. Following a devastating break-up, you call upon the gods for the power to prevent tragedy in your life and are bestowed the gift of immortality and magical power, making you the first sorceress in your world. Local townsfolk are afraid of your powers, however, and you must hide from a mob hellbent on burning you at the stake. When a handsome warrior hears of your plight, he comes to your aid, protecting you from those who think that magic is inherently evil.

- How to Steel a Heart: Regency. Romantic. M(you)xF(me).
     - When your wife and child die during childbirth, you vow to never marry again. What you had with her was real love, not a marriage of convenience. She was the love of your life. You close the manor and send away all but the minimal staff possible—you can’t look at any of them, watch them mourn your wife as you do. When your wife's cousin shows up in need of help, you want to turn her away—you really do—but you can't. She comes in and opens the curtains, and you hate her. You hate her because she reminds you of your wife, and also because she's nothing like your wife. You keep hating her until you don't. But can any amount of feelings overcome the guilt?

- Something Domestic: Regency. Romantic. M(you)xF(me). * Spoken for!
     - It's been years since you've traveled to the city. The last time must've been when you were socializing at the ton (period slang for fashionable society) to support your 4 younger sisters. You didn't find a wife in London, but that didn't really upset you much as you are never going to marry. You enjoy your quiet country life too much. Even your mother has long since stopped trying to convince you to find a bride and family. Still, you dutifully support her and your remaining unmarried sibling, so when your oldest sister comes to call and begs you for help, you say yes, of course. Her husband's cousin needs a place to hide from a laudanum-addled ex-suitor and requests to stay with you. Although skeptical at first, you can't turn the young girl away any easier than you could tell your sister no. After all, it's not like it's going to change your life if a woman lives with you—right?

- A Teacher for Father: Regency. Romantic. M(you)xF(me). Spoken For!
     - As a recent widower with two young children, you aren't interested in finding a new wife. Your mother, however, strongly disagrees and wants you to remarry as soon as possible, securing an even greater income for the family. From your perspective, you have retained a courtesy in all your late wife's land, so there is little need to remarry for wealth. All you want is someone to care for your two young children, who are in desperate need of a mother-like figure. When you request a nurse from the agency, you expect a dour, middle-aged, no-nonsense spinster, and are quite shocked when you get quite the opposite: a young, whimsical, and quite attractive woman. You are skeptical of her abilities and her teaching methods are a little suspect, but her credentials are impeccable, and the children seem to love her from the start. Over time, you find yourself drawn to her as well, rekindling feelings you never thought you'd have again.

- Respectable Daughters: Regency. Romantic. F(either)xF(either). (Preferably with a female partner.)
     - It's your first season in London, and you're not sure if you're more nervous or annoyed. The ton (period slang for fashionable society) isn't exactly your scene. Despite feeling ready for marriage, you are uncertain you're ready for the season of romance. You're tired of the preening and the monotony, and you know the other girls are, too, although they hide it better. The one exception is the Duke of Essex's daughter. It's her third season, which is almost unheard of for someone so well-connected and beautiful. You find yourself drawn to her. She sees through the same boredom that you do, and you are both surprised by the instant connection. When an aristocrat offers her marriage and she considers it, you're shocked by your own jealousy. You wonder if you have found love at the ton after all, but with her—a woman.

Fandom Ideas

   - Are You My Master?: Star Wars (Pre-Clone Wars). Mentor/Student. OCs. ANYxANY. * Spoken For!
       - After I finished my youngling training, I never caught the eye of any prospective masters. This went on for years. I was never told that I would be hard to place. Though I steered clear of arrogance, as we are taught, I knew I had talent. I knew that about half of the unselected were still here because of that (and they knew it). I also wasn’t a troublemaker like the other half. I trained, practiced, and meditated every day. I was patient at first but as time wore on, I was losing hope. If I reached the age of 13 without being chosen, I’d never be selected and relegated to the Jedi Service Corps instead. One morning, there was excitement rippling among the other candidates. There was a master looking for an apprentice. It was hard to feel the same as we were tromped into the practice hall to be observed again. You were standing alongside Master Yoda and Master Windu. As I laid eyes on you, I felt a swelling in the Force stronger than I ever felt before. As you glanced at me, I pleaded silently “please pick me, please!”

- Wands & Owls: Year 1: Harry Potter (Pre or Post Books). OCs. M(you)/F(me) or F/F if romantic; ANY/ANY if platonic. Spoken For!
   - It’s your first year at Hogwarts. You are excited. When the day comes to finally board the train, you can barely contain yourself. There is the usual bustle of muggles throughout the station. However, the crowd thins out as you approach Platform 9 ¾ and you start to see the strange passengers with strange things among their carry-ons. Animals in various cages or carriers. Lots of strange old books. And is that a cloak? There is an engineer standing near a column with a subtly different uniform to the others you’ve seen so far. He smiles and you and gives you the strangest instructions: run at the middle pillar! Is this insane advice? Or is it an obvious statement? As you pass through, some idiot kid forgot to keep going. You crash headlong into the back of their trolley!

Late night devil, put your hands on me
