TheBlackThrone

I am tracking 3 finished profiles. 1 unfinished profile, and 1 pending modification. We have about 5 people potentially if I get some follow through with the unfinished CSes. I will continue to accept character sheets until 20 January. After 20 Jan, I am hoping to start the game with whatever is submitted then.

Face Claim:Omari Hardwick
Full Name: Quentin Bryant Jameson
Alias: Silverback
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Race: Black
Ethnicity: American
Height: 6'6
Weight: 240lbs
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Hazel
Build: Muscular
Complexion: Light
General Description: Handsome. Before you notice the height and the muscles, it's not hard to tell that Quentin is a catch. He's got light-brown skin, a chiseled jaw line, handsome features, and keeps his beard trimmed to a laser edge at all times. He's 6'6 so his height isn't something you can just ignore. He's also got the body of a fighter, and is covered in tattoos. He tends to dress as utilitarian and comfortable as he can, because he's always ready for a brawl.
Costume Description: Like his namesake, Quentin's costume is colored in shades of black and gray, with a splotch/patch of silver-white in the center of the costume's back. The contouring and plating on the suit make his muscles seem even more exaggerated to add to the intimidation factor. He also has an open "mouth" with an armored mesh to protect his face, while the mouth has fangs, again for more intimidation.

Personality: Quentin is as serious as a heart attack. He always has a look of focus or concentration on his face, unless he's angry, and then it's more than obvious just what he's feeling at the moment. He's capable of laughing and joking, but his sense of humor is very dark and macabre.

He can't help it, his childhood wasn't very pleasant. When you manage to gain his respect and trust, you notice a different side to him. Still gruff, and serious and focused; however, it's obvious there's more there. A man who can smile and enjoy the little things. A man who can enjoy the company of a woman despite the mission. Even his cover identity is essentially how he really is, he just makes it seem a bit more endearing so people believe he's an actual person and not a sleeper agent.

Likes: Fighting, Martial Arts, Tinkering, TV/Internet(shows), healthy competition, winning, vintage cars, beautiful women
Dislikes: Bugs, Canes(used to beat him as training and punishment), things being too easy, not having full knowledge of a situation
Psychological Quirks: Quentin has this thing where no matter where he goes, he will subconsciously take note of the entrances, exits, people and things around him. This is so he'll always be prepared no matter what, which is something he learned living in Chicago. It manifests as his eyes darting back and forth while he mumbles to himself. This can go on for minutes at a time until his need is satisfied.

Story: Quentin remembers his life with terrifying detail. He remembers how his family was small, just his mom, dad, and older sister. But he remembers they were happy with the way things were. He remembers it being his birthday and the party at Wave Breakers Amusement/Water park, and how much fun everyone had.

And how since his sister had recently turned fifteen and gotten her learner's permit, his dad let her drive the entire hour home to get her used to the highway. And finally...he remembers how that trucker had swerved into their car right before they got to the exit ramp. Then darkness. And after that, he remembers the flashing lights, and the drunken man walking back and forth, ignoring him while the little boy writhed in pain on the ground. He watched him get back in his truck and drive away, as he left Quentin to die to cover up his mistake. Then he was taken from the hospital, but instead of being treated and next of kin being informed, they faked the report and said he died in transit, switching his body out with some unfortunate urchin and entering him into Project Orphan. The rest of his family thought Quentin, his sister, and his parents had all died in a horrific drunk-driving accident.

The first stretch of time spent with the League was in a medical ward, and as soon as he was given the all-clear, physical therapy. He doesn't know how much time he spent putting himself back together, but he moment he was deemed fit enough to be put with the others, they threw him into the deep end. He started later so he had to figure out things the others had already learned with no help. His only saving grace was his size. He was very big for his age, and what he lacked in skill, he made up for in strength and toughness. Training seemed inhumane, but he grew to crave it. Every challenge brought forth visions of his family, visions of the driver. Anger, and hate, and vengeance, and sadness all coalesced into an orb of determination in his gut. A flame that never died out.

The pain of training, of mistakes and setbacks; hell, trainers with a grudge who enjoyed beating him and calling it coaching...  It only ever brought about progress and forward momentum, fueling Quentin with an unlimited supply of "fuck you" energy. As they got older, he got bigger, and stronger, and bigger, and stronger. It wasn't his only focus, but it was definitely his primary one. He leaned into his insane physical capabilities and realized it was just another natural talent he could take advantage of. Unlike a lot of the others, Quentin could be friendly once he saw he could trust you. He made a few friends, if you could call them that. Other trainees who weren't as assholish as people like Lorenzo, who he hated with a passion. Unlike others, one of his favorite people was Misha. His energy and attitude reminded Quentin of his sister, so he was always close with the Russian orphan. He helped him how he could, but even Quentin couldn't fight everyone who had an issue with him, so he chose his battles wisely.

Being a smart kid from Chiraq, he knew the games the adults were playing and never got too close, nor too dependent on any of them because he didn't want to become a pet project and beholden to one of the instructors like some of the other kids. He also saw how they pitted them against each other for the fun of it so he hated them for it. He was even the one who taped Misha's photo back together after Lorenzo shredded it and told him to keep it safe from then on. He also broke both of Lorenzo's arms when no one was looking, because all he had were memories of his parents, so the act of destroying a memento of someone's family was sacrilege and something he could not forgive. He still wonders if it was his fault that Lorenzo didn't survive the Kiss of Death, but he doesn't feel a shred of guilt about it, even if it turns out to be true. When the time finally came for his own Kiss of Death, the vision he received was that of a mighty silverback gorilla, bigger and stronger than his foes. It was surrounded by challengers, and one by one with it's overwhelming strength and ferocity, he tore apart all who stood in his way until he was covered in the blood of his defeated foes.

A powerful war cry rang in his ears, the terrifying sight of a gigantic silverback beating his chest like a mighty drum, then charging with it's fangs bared and massive arms pounding the ground woke him up. After the program was completed, he escaped with the others, doing as much damage as he could on the way out. Like most of the others, he went back home and ended up in Chicago where it was easy to disappear in the violence of the Southside. It wasn't hard to make money doing typical gang activity with his high level of training, and after establishing himself, he went looking for the man who took his family.

After discovering he got away scot-free with what he did, and his employer helped him hide it, he went on a personal crusade. He dismantled the man's entire life, ruined his career, his reputation, all of it. He was there when he ended his own life, but only after Quentin beat him so bad he begged for it to end. After that, he went after the company itself and worked his magic to push them into bankruptcy before taking out the people involved in the coverup too. Once his revenge was done, he found work as a mechanic a personal trainer(primarily martial arts and muscle sculpting) for athletes and celebrities to keep a low profile, but make sure he didn't live in poverty. He even did some contract work and underground fights here and there to keep things interesting. With the death of Batman however, he dropped everything and went to meet the others to complete their long-held mission.

Talents:

Pressure Points - Due to his extensive study of the human musculature in his quest to gain strength, Quentin has learned all there is about pressure points, acupuncture, etc... This allows him to incorporate the art into his fighting style, and deliver strikes and grips that can cause spasms, temporary paralysis, intense pain, and other effects by manipulating the muscle fibers in different ways.

Grip Strength - Similar to the jaws of pit bulls, crocodiles, and other dangerous animals, Silverback's grip strength is out of this world. Once he gets a hold of something, it's nearly impossible to get free. This is a mix of technique and overwhelming strength that allows him to crush bones or free climb buildings by getting an ironclad grip on the smallest handholds. If he lets his nails grow out, he can tear flesh from a person.

Deep Breathing - As most if not all activities involving feats of great strength require a deep breath, or holding of one's breath; as well as having plenty of oxygen in your blood and muscles to maintain the body during such a physically taxing situation, Quentin has studied multiple forms of breathing, deep breathing, circular breathing, etc... Now, he can hold his breath for multiple minutes, even while doing strenuous activities. This also allows more explosive power as his muscles stay supplied with oxygen.

Weapon(s): Armored Suit - The entirety of Silverback's suit has been modified around his monstrous strength. Instead of swinging around a hammer or an axe or something crazy like that, he has instead added lightweight, but incredibly dense and durable armor plating around the hands, wrists, palms, forearms, skull, elbows, knees, shins, and feet of the suit. These are used for striking, but he has also armored other areas like the ribs, thighs, and back to add a higher defense ratio as well since his only weapon is his body itself.

This leads to far more blunt force trauma from his impacts, as well as allowing him to directly block attacks from other weapons(and sometimes break them) with his body without fear of damage to a certain extent. In case of emergencies, he can eject a set of 4.5 inch claws from the fingertips of his gloves, which combined with his strength lets him slice into reinforced materials.

Gadgets:

Artificial Muscles - Silverback's suit is not only built tough; built-in are specialized artificial muscles made of carbon nano-fibers and powered by high-grade coolant and micromotors. This allows for small periods of extreme strength, even for him. He mainly uses this for traversal and safe landing, allowing him to jump around the city at a similar speed to using a grappler or cape glider.

Another use is for things like stopping runaway vehicles or immense weights that would normally crush him or someone he's protecting. The drawback of that is an immediate power down of the muscles after, with a long recharge time. And while he could use them on people, the results are incredibly gory and usually not worth the effort.

Wrist Grapple - On the chance he's expended his suits current charge for the muscles, he has a built-in grapple system in the wrists of the suit, so he can still get around. He can also use it to lasso opponents and reel them in.

The rest of his gear is pretty standard for a bat family member. Multi-spectrum lenses in his helmet for different viewing modes, smoke bombs, flashbangs, etc... He has his own version of batarangs, which are essentially weighted orbs that can be used to bludgeon someone from distance, or thrown as bolas to ensare someone. His suit is lined with kevlar and alloys to make him very resistant against small arms fire as well. He also has shock absorbers to help with the falls and impacts.

Vehicle(s): A heavily modified 69 GTO Judge that is definitely not street legal.

Familiar: A ferret named Puma.

This is just a reminder that I'll be starting this tomorrow after work. So all finished CSes here are approved. Once I get the IC up. I'll get the other necessary threads up. I will consider taking any characters that come after the IC for those who may have wanted to wait and see how the game was going to go first.

Edit: The game has officially started. Links have been updated. We'll still be accepting characters until we reach 8 max.
