Batman is dead. He sacrificed himself taking down the one nemesis he never could kill: The Joker. Even in his last efforts, he still never killed him. He made sure The Joker went down with his own gag. The world and Gotham were shocked by the news. The scum in the crime-riddled nooks and crannies of the city were elated. Batman was gone. It wasn’t until his absence that Batman’s disciples realized how much of a powerful influence he had on every villain in Gotham. Arkham Asylum; Blackgate Penitentiary; they exploded with rebellion. Gotham Police and every known disciple of Batman were overwhelmed by the radicalized violence. Batman’s death triggered a historical revolution. Criminals set fire to the streets and gangs started to carve out territory. The three largest gangs were led by Black Mask, Two Face, and The Penguin—The Gotham Triad. Black Mask absorbed Joker’s old gang and allowed them to create a sub-group under him known simply as The Jokers in honor of the deceased clown prince. The group so far has been brought to heel, but they are plotting something—something Sionis doesn’t know about.

Gotham Police were forced to build barricades around a surviving safe haven in Old Gotham. The safe haven was called Neo Genesis. What started off as a necessary act of survival turned into the mayor’s psychosociological project. Neo Genesis was the answer to Gotham’s crisis. A safe haven where the government kept tabs on everyone and severely punished those who would dare commit a crime. With the Gotham Police at his side, the mayor planned to expand Neo Genesis throughout the entirety of Gotham.

What happened to the side of good? It seemed to have died with Batman. No one knew what good looked like anymore. Gotham was either black or gray. Neo Genesis made a difficult ally, and its existence divided the Bat Family. Some of the Bat Family chose to serve and protect Neo Genesis, while others sought independence and the old freedom. The divided family made them inadequate at stopping The Gotham Triad. Neo Genesis appeared to be an island waiting to be swallowed by the black water surrounding it, but there was hope.

Batman was always known to be prepared and steps ahead of his enemies. His death was only a cue in a long, devised plan. Project Orphan was a program that gathered several gifted orphans from around the world and placed them under a rigorous training program led by Talia al Ghul and The League of Assassins. The children were raised to appear the same. Their heads were shaved, and they wore the same black, ninja-yoroi. No matter the age, when they completed a grueling life or death rite called The Kiss of Death, they were given a pseudonym that represented what they saw in The Dream. For what they saw was who they were.

While Talia honored Batman’s plan to run the project, she had other uses for the children. She planned to sell them to The Gotham Triad for money, knowing they would make powerful mercenaries. She underestimated them, for the children who called her mother learned of her plan. They escaped the League of Assassins and went into hiding. They knew their purpose was to keep an eye on Batman and wait. They waited into adulthood until Batman died as he predicted he would. When the orphans left the League of Assassins, they were all given a scroll with a wax seal. The seal was not meant to be broken, and the message within not read until that moment. The message would bring them all secretly together in Gotham.

Explanation

The game takes place on alternate Earth Triple Niner. The setting of this story will stay within Gotham. There will be no other DC characters. Every now and then, a canon cameo from the Bat Family may make an appearance, but those characters are not playable at this time. The focus is the orphans. This game will be focused on original characters from Project Orphan. Now adults and having broken the seal which gave them their next orders.

I want this game to have the noir vibe that Gotham already has, except being that this is an adult site, we can really explore those dark themes. You will be required to make an orphan, and there won’t be an in-depth system because I am not a fan of system games. However, I must control Mary Sues, so there will be a very easy, mild system that prevents overpowered characters from being created. Simply, your characters will automatically have the below categories in their character sheet:

Strength
Speed
Toughness
Martial Arts
Accuracy
Technical

Strength is physical strength.
Speed is agility and self-explanatory, physical speed.
Toughness is how a character takes pain, and it also includes stamina/endurance. The ability to keep going.
Martial Arts is martial arts to include acrobatics.
Accuracy is how well a character uses firearms, bows, etc. Projectiles.
Technical a character’s ability to investigate, hack, solve puzzles, and collect evidence.

Players will only be allowed to select one of those categories for [PEAK]. Peak means the character is peak human and maybe even slightly above human in that category. Players can only use PEAK once and can only use it on one of the categories. If there are two characters with PEAK in the same category, then they are evenly matched in those categories unless a PM conversation between the two writers dictates otherwise.

And that’s it! Simple right? The rest of the character will require writers to come up with a character name, the name they acquired in The Kiss of Death(KoD) rite, and a theme that matches their pseudonym (KoD alias). For example, Batman’s theme was a Bat. Similarly, the pseudonym will be an animal of some sort that represents the original character.

Summary: NC: Human-Freeform Small Groups; Noir; OC-focused; GM-led storyline; Freeform Player-driven character development and extra story elements; horror; action; drama; and mild dystopian.

Expectations

Writing Ability: Players who express interest in this game must be capable of writing more than 200 words. They must also be capable of basic English grammar, and they must be willing to write in third-person. Writers must separate themselves from their characters. They are not their characters. Their characters are an independent entity of their creation.
Activity: Once every seven days. I count; don’t worry. If you need more time, if you’re going on vacation somewhere, if you encounter any delays, then simply communicate. Tell us what’s up, so any writing partner you have isn't paused and waiting. Players who don’t inform the GM of their absence will be given 14 days to do so. Around the 14th day, the GM will check their activity status and PM them. If the GM receives no answer after 48 hr, then their character will be dropped from the game.
Romance: I love when chemistry happens between characters. Understand, there is nothing wrong with romance in this game. It just has to be driven by the two Ps: plot and purpose. If your goal is to sleep with every character in the game and then leave, then you’re in the wrong game. This game is all about story and building drama. If there’s no plot and purpose behind the romance, it’s smut, and this isn’t a smut-heavy game.
Dark Themes: There may be non-consensual mentions, crime, gore, and other noir themes. This game will be placed in the NC: Human-Freeform Small Groups.
Storytellers: When you’re building your character, please come up with a story. If you have read this and already have a character idea, then that is a really good sign. It’s a sign of not only a good character concept but a long-term one with a potential story. So when you are brainstorming a character, don’t just pull one out of your hat. It should feel like an inspiration. Lastly, don’t just join the game to join (bandwagon). If you have a bad story behind your character, then you won’t last long anyway. So I am trying to help you out by informing you about what you should be thinking about before you commit to a game.
GM will not make your character for you: Do not ask me what kind of character I am looking for in this game. I'm not looking for anything. I want to see what kind of story you bring to the table. So please do not ask me and do not expect me to make your character for you.

Q&A

Q: Can the Kiss of Death aliases be mythological creatures?

A: No.

Q: Can there be more than one character with the same Peak category?

A: Yes.

Q: How many writers do you plan to allow in this game max?

A: At this time, it depends on how many post a character sheet. If I receive a ton of interest, then I will make a cut somewhere. That cut will be based on the character concepts presented.

When Batman fell, Gotham was never the same. The city was divided into three parts controlled by the Gotham Triad: Penguin, Two Face, and Black Mask. The surviving innocents were backed into a sectioned-off and heavily-fortified city called “Neo Genesis.” Within Neo Genesis was the hope that Gotham would one day be as it once was—but better. People are able to live a normal life, while outside its walls the ruins of Gotham burned in gang warfare. Batwoman watched over Neo Genesis with Oracle and Red Robin supporting her, but as Nightwing argued, there wasn’t much to protect. The problem was not on the inside, but the outside. This was where the Bat family was divided. Nightwing, Red Hood, and Damian Wayne Batman split their efforts across Old Gotham to combat the triad, but their efforts were in vain. Because they were divided, they couldn't stand a formidable chance. There were too many villains, and all they could manage to do was ensure none of the villains got close to Neo Genesis.

Inside Neo Genesis, the mayor, Troy Howard (FC: Mad Mikkelsen), was shaping the future of Gotham. He was placing tags on everyone, collecting their biometric data, and storing it within a massive database. He wanted to identify everyone to ensure their safety. Facial recognition was how the people accessed stores and their own homes. Howard was empowering the people to join the police force and slowly, the walls of Neo Genesis expanded. However, when the day came when Gotham was reclaimed, Howard secretly had no intention of ever giving Gotham back its name. Gotham was the name of a corrupt and crime-infested city. Neo Genesis, as its name signifies, was a “New Beginning.” His beginning. His conquest to do the impossible and end crime forever.

Those outside Neo Genesis, to include those Bat Family members, thought Troy Howard was a quack. Frighteningly though, with how things were going, Howard’s dream seemed possible.

The Divide

Roman Sionis was not as young as he used to be. None of the triad were. Time had aged them, but greed kept them alive when so many had fallen in the war. To name a few, Bane had suffered a heart attack and died. His heart was unable to take his continued use of venom. Mr. Freeze died when Two Face’s gang shattered his helm. Black Mask’s Jokers burned Poison Ivy and her lair. The villainess chose to burn with her pets. Victor Zsasz was killed by Red Hood. The remaining villains still exist. Some are employed by the triad voluntarily or against their will.

There exists a second haven, ironically in Two Face’s territory. The lives of captured innocents were determined by a coin toss. Those who got the good flip were allowed to live in the yellow-shaded area. Those who got the bad flip were executed. Two Face and his gang reside in the darker shaded area and often cross into the yellow, seeking out survivors who have fled into their territory. Fugitives who were hiding in basements and other areas during the gang wars started to emerge and try to flee to Neo Genesis. While the Bat Family try to reach them first, most don’t ever make it. There are rewards out on the heads of the Bat Family, and anyone who brings the triad one of them dead or alive will be given a rather tall promotion. The Bat Family has been so far exceptional at not getting caught but at the expense of their health. Lack of sleep and sometimes eating and drinking can make a hero have a sloppy escape. Batwoman will give Nightwing supplies to share with the others, but one day, her supplies won’t be enough.

Neo Genesis Mayor
Troy Howard

Transportation

The metro has been deactivated. The tunnels are blocked in Neo Genesis, but are used as check and smuggling points everywhere else. Neo Genesis receives supplies via helicopter. The helicopters make risky flights out of the city, and are assaulted by turrets and RPGs as soon as they pass over Black Mask’s territory. It is Roman’s strategy to starve Neo Genesis into submission, and currently, Neo Genesis has only five helicopters left.

Orphan

Clandestine operatives of Batman were activated upon receiving news of his passing. The orphans, out living normal lives, were quick to throw it all away upon immediate execution of their orders. Their final destination: Gotham—or what was left of it.

They were to meet in a warehouse in Sandy Hook, controlled by one of Black Mask’s goons. How they went about cleaning out the gang without the rest of Roman’s organization being notified was the true test. After fifteen years, the orphans would meet for the first time. With hair on their heads and matured. Reunited, they would open their scrolls together and read Batman’s message.

I'm dropping this character sheet to give those interested some ideas for a character backstory and some insight on how the LOA worked. And any other ideas anyone can pull from it.

Edit: I also wanted to add that the names of the other orphans mentioned in my character's backstory can be replaced with the names of actual orphan player-made characters. Just let me know if you would like for your character to have been in his back story since they would all know each other or be familiar with each other.

Face Claim: Dan Conn
Full Name: Mikhail "Misha" Valentinovich Kuznetsov
Alias: Wolf
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Race: Caucasian
Ethnicity: Russian
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 189 lbs
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue
Build: Athletic, Heavy-Weight
Complexion: Pale
General Description: Misha, out of costume, can be seen wearing casual clothing: T-shirts, jeans, leather jackets, or sometimes sweats. He likes comfortable clothing. He has never been seen wearing a suit or anything other than casual. His body is covered in tattoos, and a scar descends down his right eye.
Costume Description: Misha's suit is black and dark-grey. The suit is entirely polyfiber with reinforced padding about his torso, neck, groin, and legs. The suit is meant to be durable but not so heavy to restrict his movement or tire him out. The helmet resembles a wolf with pointed ears and fangs bared. Above the teeth is a black visor that hides his face and acts as a interface, allowing him to target multiple enemies.

Personality: Misha is hyperactive. He is easily excited, and when not on medication always somewhere else either physically or mentally. He will interrupt people who are long-winded talkers or who are still saying something where he has already figured out their point. On impulse, he can act without thinking and improvise along the way. The spikes of energy he feels sometimes tickle him, as he describes it, causing him to laugh. Misha tries to vent the energy through various activities such as fitness or doing what he really wants to do... it's a secret of his, but he has always wanted to go to school to study dance. When he's alone, or thinks he is, he will practice a small routine he learned, and then stop before discovery because he's a bad ass and bad asses don't do that shit......

To his enemies, Misha is described as insane for his excited rambling, shouting, laughing, and just wild behavior. Caffeine is gas on the fire, and not even Misha will drink it knowing how chaotic it would make himself. He instead uses it in emergency situations, such as when he plans to be in a long firefight.

On a regular, non-work day, Misha will take his medication and chill out. His off-days are the most normal anyone would see him act. He is much calmer, a little slower, and more patient.

As a kid, Misha was always hyperactive to the point the other orphans thought he was annoying. They made fun of him, beat him up, and despite them all looking the same, they always made him feel different. Misha used to cry a lot due to the abuse, but...well...he doesn't cry anymore.

Likes: Every caffeinated, sugar-induced product you can think of even though he is not allowed to have it. He likes a challenge and opponents who think they are untouchable. Misha is very determined, and he will try to do the impossible. He is a daredevil and thrill-seeker. He will skydive, bungee jump, and ride the tallest coaster with the steepest drop. If you need someone to execute a crazy stunt that could result in death, Misha is your guy.
Dislikes: Misha used to not like being bullied, but now he welcomes it as an excuse to get his knuckles wet. He has a soft spot for those who are weak and will defend them from those who think they are strong. Misha can be overconfident in his resilience sometimes, and so he doesn't like being told he can't do something or he is incapable.
Psychological Quirks: Misha is a type of ADHD. While he doesn't have too many difficulties paying attention, he is hyperactive to the point he can multitask, and process predictions so quick, he tries to anticipate what the other person is thinking, going to do, or going to say, which leads him to interrupt one's train of thought. He has a difficult time listening to long-winded speeches or talking when his mind has already predicted the point of the conversation (so he believes--he can be correct sometimes). This often annoys others, and therefore, Misha takes downers to chill out. The downers make him more patient and calm so he can actively listen to the drivel he normally wouldn't bother listening a full minute to. Misha is impulsive and should only be briefed about important information when he is on his medication. Misha is also known to think aloud, muttering his musings to himself when he is off his medication.

Story: Misha was always different from the other orphans. He never really understood it. It could have been because he spoke Russian, and it had taken him a few classes to finally get a grasp of English. But even after learning English, majority of the other orphans didn’t like him, calling him annoying. Misha couldn’t understand how he was annoying, but he also didn’t understand his hyperactivity. He was always happy and energetic, which didn’t clash well with those kids who were upset, miserable, and still dwelling on their abduction. Those kids could not see the bright side, and the stress of the Orphan program weighed on their conscience. Some kids couldn’t deal with it and purposefully committed suicide during the lethal training exercises. While Misha was constantly bullied and considered the kid who would not make it to the end, Misha’s high energy was what allowed him to excel where other kids couldn’t. After an exercise, while some of the other kids were tired and winded, Misha was bouncing off the walls, eager to go again and again. The League of Assassins (LoA) noticed this quality about Misha and often exposed him to longer and harsher training regimens to see the limits of the boy’s energy and to condition him to last longer.

There were many weak qualities Misha demonstrated, such as crying when he was bullied, allowing the words of others to affect his performance, and wanting to quit. In his mind, it seemed as though all the kids wanted him to quit or expected him to slip up and die for being a crybaby and annoying. The LoA aggravated the tension to experiment on Misha’s mental state. The instructors often labeled Misha as an example of weakness, telling the other students not to cry like him and that he was a disappointment for crying. Some of the instructors hugged and patted the heads of different students before Misha’s eyes to make him feel more like an outcast. For a child, that little positive reinforcement and affection was what any of them wanted from a father and mother-figure. Misha wasn’t allowed any of it. When he disappointed the orphans’ perceived mother and father figures, some of the other kids grew angry with him, telling him to just die.

Misha wanted to die. He was just too weak to do it himself. The LoA watched in secret Misha attempt to kill himself, but he never went through with it. Instead, he did what he always did. Buckle down and cry. He remembered how the other kids managed to do it. Dying during a training exercise was the easiest way to go out. Misha attempted to do just that during one of the exercises until Io saved him to his surprise. Some of the other kids had been hoping for him to die, and the LoA recognized Misha’s near-death as a deliberate attempt. Misha, however, was grateful and able to snap out of his depression. Misha had an actual friend. Someone who didn’t find him entirely irritating for his hyperactivity. The LoA knew they wouldn’t be able to push Misha to the brink again with his new friend, and so they changed their methods. They wanted to see Misha angry.

The LoA began paying attention to Misha’s primary bully, Lorenzo Maduro. The LoA watched all of the kids and manipulated them in order to examine how each handled stress. Every night, Misha went to bed, sleeping next to the only photo he had of his mother, Lyonya. She was a professional ballerina who married a man involved with the Russian mafia. Misha often dreamt of watching his mother dance at the practice studio, which was where she took him when she had to babysit him. Lorenzo stole Misha’s photo, startling the boy from his sleep. Lorenzo made a show of Misha’s torment, waving the photo around and making Misha beg for it back. Misha humiliated himself, doing everything Lorenzo had asked, until Lorenzo grew bored and no longer found amusement in shaming him. Lorenzo tore Misha’s photo before Misha’s eyes and cast the pieces upon the floor. Something in Misha’s brain snapped, and in that moment, he didn’t cry. He lost his mind. Misha violently lashed out at Lorenzo, but he was denied his chance for revenge by LoA instructors who barged into the bay. Misha was restrained and put in the box where he continued to curse Lorenzo’s name. LoA kept Misha in the box for days, documenting his bouts of rage that didn’t seem to cease. Misha was at the mindset the LoA wanted and to complete his conditioning, they waited until the orphans were required to spar each other. The LoA allowed Misha out of the box days before and purposefully set his match against Lorenzo. Prior to the match, Misha was approached by Willow, who had been observing the LoA and how they manipulated each of the students. Willow warned Misha not to kill Lorenzo or he would become what the LoA wanted all along. Misha dismissed Willow too enraged to let Lorenzo go. However, during Misha’s match against Lorenzo, Misha had an opportunity to finish Lorenzo off, but he had remembered what Willow had warned him about. Misha didn’t kill Lorenzo to the LoA’s anger. Lorenzo retaliated, slashing Misha’s face and scaring him into thinking he had lost his eye. Misha was taken to the aid station to get his face cleaned up, and while there, Quentin approached him, having taped the photo of his mother back together. Misha was grateful and swore to himself he would keep the photo in a much safer place.

The day of the Kiss of Death, Misha learned Lorenzo didn’t survive the poison. Misha believed he should have felt avenged, but he instead felt even more afraid. In The Dream, Misha saw a lone wolf racing through the woods and howling into the night beneath a full moon. Misha’s name was Wolf from that moment and come time for the escape, Misha set out into the world as a lone wolf. Misha started with returning to his mother land to seek revenge on the Mafia gunman who murdered his mother and father. Misha continued to take contracts after his revenge, realizing they allowed him to make big money. He bought a house in Portugal along the shore and continued to take contracts that not only funded his upkeep, but his dance classes he secretly did on the side. Misha was driving to his dance class when he learned about the death of Batman over the radio. Misha abandoned his life, flying into Metropolis and taking a vehicle as far as he could go to Gotham. The city was a shithole, and Misha knew he would have to learn to navigate it in order to reach the rally point.

Talents: Misha’s hyperactivity allows him to keep going—longer than most. While everyone is sitting down after a long hours hike, Misha is the one bouncing around, trying to get the group to keep moving. In a fight, Misha, even if martially outclassed has been known to tire his opponents out. Their strikes become weaker and slower, and once he’s gotten them to this point, Misha puts them down. Misha is able to take more punishment and can go an entire day from morning to late into the night until he needs to rest. Sometimes, he has to take his downers just so that he can be well-rested for the next day because he always feels antsy. As Wolf, Misha will track people down for days. It was what he did in his previous job. He specializes in traps, leading his enemies through traps, or chasing them into them. Another talent of his, is dancing. He knows various forms of dancing from ballet to salsa. Every now and then, he’ll fantasize about being a backup dancer for some popstar or performing in a Broadway musical. They are dreams and he doesn’t believe he will ever have an opportunity to live him…but he tries to on his off-days. In secret, he will participate in ballroom, salsa, and hip-hop classes on different days of the week. Well…he did before arrived in Gotham. Sometimes when he’s taking a long walk through a park with little human activity, he will start dancing to keep up his routines.

Weapon(s): Misha utilizes a three-section staff that can solidify into a solid bo staff or break into three sections. The staff itself can even condense to allow him to equip it as one, one-foot pole. When the staff extends, the act of extension can strike enemies and send them backwards. When he divides the section into three, he uses them like nunchucks to repel projectiles back at enemies and to trap the limbs of his enemies in different locks. He can connect the three sections into a single pole and use it as a bo staff for combat and vaulting over gaps.

Gadgets:

Tripwire/Clothesline – Misha likes to set up multiple wires for tripping or clothes lining fleeing foes. He will often set the wires in tight alleys. Sometimes, the tripwire is connected to an explosive such as a grenade or a smoke bomb for creating a blinding screen to confuse and disorient his enemies.

Grappling Claw – The grapple is standard in the Bat Family kit. Misha uses the grapple to reach high ledges and to snag the back of fleeing enemies to draw them back toward him. He can also use it to snag an unsuspecting guard for a quick and silent takedown.

Wolf Run – Misha’s suit allows him to chase down opponents through quadrupedal sprinting. For example, Misha could already be sprinting after a fleeing enemy who managed to avoid his grapple and traps and for that extra boost of speed, he can lunge into a quadrupedal sprint to quickly catch up to his enemy and tackle them. This sprint is iconic to his Wolf alias.

Sticky Bombs – Misha will plant these on moving vehicles, giant deathbots, or anything that just won’t go down with normal tactics.

Wolf Bite – The jaws of Misha’s helmet are capable of parting to bite down on ropes, chords, or even human flesh, severing them like scissors. He can use his bite to escape snares or even to catch weapons and bite them in two.

Tracker – Misha utilizes a tracking system to chase down enemies who have fled. The tracker is often small and in the shape of a wolf head. When he needs to locate the fled person or vehicle, he will utilize his helmet’s interface to locate them. The tracker will release a beacon called a “Howl” for Misha to hunt.

Growl/Howl – Misha’s helm can release wolfish growls and snarls that can intimidate his enemies. When his enemies are running or hiding from him, and they hear the ghostly howl of a wolf, their fear can lead them to make panicked mistakes, which makes it easier for Misha to track them down.

Bio Analyzer – Misha’s helm can scan and store data about the footprints, bio matter, and other identifying information about the enemies he tracks down. Like a wolf hunting prey, Misha can use this information to track down enemies even through disguises.

Fangs – Misha’s utility knives that are curved like dual-headed karambits. Misha can utilize the knives for cutting or severing the tendons of his foes during combat. He can also lob them like a boomerang at enemies in a Batman style to disarm or even carry a sticky bomb to make them explode.

Height: 160cm
Weight: 54kg
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Black
Build: Slim, lithe.
Complexion: Pale
General Description: Seen mostly wearing simple outfits like t-shirt and jeans or dresses. She enjoy dressing simply unless it is part of a mission (esp under cover work). She would normally wear her hair down when she is off duty.
Costume Description: Mostly black with red accents, her outfit is made out of a mixture of biosteel and Kevlar. Bulletproof and fire resistant. The design was kept simple just to prevent movement restrictions as she moved. It is streamlined and light enough to be wore underneath clothes should the need arises.

Personality: She is the balance of overly outspoken yet the quiet observer. She stands up for what is right and despise bullies, cheats and people who are irresponsible. She thinks before she acts (most of the time). She tries her best to not let her emotions cloud her judgement as she knows it affects her job and lives could be in jeopardy.

Likes: Time away from people. Simple and uncomplicated relationships (friends/family/love). Being straightforward and people who speak straight to the point. Being organised and having things planned before anything be executed.
Dislikes: Long winded conversations that have no end/goals (especially gossip). Messy/disorganized/impromptu/spontaneous/unplanned events or anything that comes as an entire surprise.

Psychological Quirks: Mild anxiety. She sets high expectations for herself and also assumes people does the same (them expecting her to be the very best). This makes her occasionally lash out at others whenever things does not seem to be in control/getting out of hand and making others think she's a perfectionist (which she is).

Story: Brought into the League of Assassins at the mere four years of age, she had no recollection of anything but painful and grueling training from "Mother". Jade grew up fighting her "brothers" and "sisters". There was occasional mentions about a "father" but he was a total enigma. This was her "family" she knew of.

Epic setting as per usual Throne, sounds like it’s gonna be a great game. ;) Pending some free time coming up I may see if I can scrap up a character for this.

Callie Del Noire

#14
I got a metahuman character who could fit in.

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
ORIGINAL CHARACTER
Sinclair ‘Syn’ Dane (Jaunt)

(HERO)

Face Claim: Jessica Green
Age: 24
Sexual Preference: Lesbian
Type: META-METAHUMAN
Base Ability: Teleportation
Secondary 1: Remote Viewing
Secondary 2: Autobiographical Memory
Vulnerability 1: Criminal History

  • Teleportation:  She can ‘jaunt’ or teleport over distances. There are two ways that she can do it. Close range or ‘blinking’ lets her work in rapid succession in the immediate area she can see, about 30 to 50 feet, changing her orientation and facing easily. While it is quick, and the more easily done of the two ways, more than a minute of rapid blinks in rapid succession tends to tire her out, though her endurance and wind are improving.
The other method is longer distance ‘jaunts’. At first she was only able to jump about 10 yards (the distance to the roof of her prison wing) but is able to cover a distance of a football field with occasion jumps slightly further (10 miles seems to be her current limit). She can carry a good portion of her own body weight easily enough but the heavier the load the more concentration required and more tiring it is. She can take a passenger but adds to the drain to her system significantly.  Longer distance jumps out of sight require either her remote senses or a good image of the target location.
  • Remote Sensing:  She can see and hear in locations beyond the reach of her physical body, by projecting an invisible psychic ‘sensor’ that lets her to see/hear where it is at. She can project the sensor about the distance of a football field but is steadily growing with practice. To date only solid ground and many layers of lead paint in the old prison boiler building have provided her with any difficulty within her powers range.
  • Autobiographical Memory/Speed reader:  She has an exceptional memory, inherited from her mother. Capable of recalling both books and locations with a high degree of recall. It is very hard for her to forget details without the use of drugs, magic or psychic powers.
  • Vulnerability: Criminal History: She is a reformed criminal in a city where criminals don’t stay reformed; between that her open meta human status and family history of criminal acts going back a century or so, she has standing in the criminal underground. This can on occasion be a hindrance as cops can harass her due to past suspicion and charges come up from time to time or criminals hold her ‘going hero’ against her. She is also currently on parole while the criminal charges against her are being decided in court, she is innocent of her grand robbery charge BUT the ring of corrupt officials are resisting easy incarceration.

Appearance: Dark hair, blue eyes with an intense focus, she prefers nondescript clothing to blend in, particularly on the ‘job’.

Personality:  ‘On the job’: Focused, mission oriented, professional who knows her job and to keep in professional to avoid mistakes.
‘Off the job’: She tries to enjoy life as much as possible, very energetic and athletic. Likes to blow off steam in a variety of ways: extreme sports, partying, sunbathing/diving but could easily curl up with a book or tour a museum.

History: Fifth generation career criminal, Sinclair was raised to be an independent woman and talented criminal. The story goes her great great grandmother got burned in the roaring twenties by her lover, and ever since the Dane women made their way thru life. She picked up her grandmother’s knack for locks and alarms and was well on the way to being as good as she was in her heyday.

Till she got caught, but ironically for a crime she didn’t commit (she was casing a check cashing shop at the time) and sentenced to 36 months in a private women’s facility for first time offenders. During her powers awakening, she uncovered evidence on who framed her (and others).

She decided to get the group responsible rather than simply escape, and started investigating things till she had a good enough picture of things by the time she was released. She slipped her evidence to the local, state and federal authorities as well as several newspapers, activists groups and signed up for an internship in Gotham after joining in the civil suit that was building up steam in Gotham and Metropolis as her evidence brought more corruption came to light.

For the most part, she’s happy to be an engineering student, working on her degrees and using her powers discreetly as needed. Mostly to help other women, investigate the more vicious hate groups and to pursue her new hobby of finding ‘lost real estate throughout the city. Spots that would be inaccessible to someone without powers like hers. With the passing of her grandmother while in prison, her mother died when she was seven (car accident), she’s looking to at least go on ‘hiatus’ till her conviction is expunged. Typically she does work as a freelance courier within the greater Gotham area, and some machinist work thru her role as a student at Gotham University as a Mechanical/Electrical engineer student and rarely does ‘site evaluations’ for one or two security firms on a one off basis.

Established Connections:
Adoptive Uncle: Colin ‘Finn’ Finnegan. Retired fixer/fence, bar owner.
Friend: Dina Wallace, Parole officer.
Contact : Stacy ‘Slim’ Stanton. Former cellmate, works in the DMV (Another framed victim)
Co-worker: Janice Baker. PI, occasionally offers her work.

If you're using the basic concept, that's fine, but I'm not going to be accepting characters with supernatural powers. The characters in this are all street-level peak human.

Well I posted Jaunt a messager and cat burglar who reformed after being set up for a crime she didn’t.

I read Jaunt, and sorry. I won't be accepting any characters with supernatural powers or pre-mades. I am accepting only characters specifically created for this game, and which follow the character creation rules for this game.

Technically she’s a metahuman and the game she was built for was a ‘Batman is dead’ game but I get what you’re saying. I’ll try to think of something else.

TheVillain

Had a bit of a wild idea here, if you'll forgive bending some rules. :P

Full Name: Zacherie
Alias: The Smoke
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Hetero
Race: Caucasian
Ethnicity: French
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 160 lbs
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue
Build: Slim-Athletic
Complexion: Pale
General Description: The Art Nerd of Project Orphan, he none-the-less goes for function over form. Hoodies and PJ pants when he doesn't expect any company, trenchcoat legion with a tie when he does.
Costume Description: Grey with Black highlights and made from high-tech materials like kevlar-weave insulative material.

Personality: Do you See it? The Scope of what we're trying to accomplish? Project Orphan tried to make him into a Vigilante, The League of Shadows tried to make him into an Assassin, but Zacherie is - something else. Like in another life he would be a World-Breaking Artist that reinvents Society with a painting. He's the Visionary, the one who never loses sight of the bigger picture, the one that remembers that the goal isn't personal vendettas or petty revenge but making a better World.

Do you See it? Do you See the better world coming?

Likes: Art, Poetry, Perserverence in the save of Adversity, Principles and Courage in others.
Dislikes: The Luddites and Philistines, those who have no Art in their Souls.
Psychological Quirks: Perfectionism and OCD, Victory is not enough - there has to be an Art to it. A greater reason for the thing to happen.

Story: Nobody thought Zacherie was going to make it through the training. That's why Orphans were picked after all, wasn't it? No harm done if they wash out or die in training. The French orphan just didn't seem to really excel at anything specific, competent as far as Assassins go but never the Best at any particular thing. Maybe his detective work was better then the other orphans but if you were looking for a replacement for Batman, Zacherie was shaping up to be a massive failure -

- Until his Final Exam. Maybe Zacherie doesn't do any one thing up to the level they wanted, but there is something he vastly excels at that they just never tested for. The Theatricality, the Showmanship - *somehow* Zacherie got to the testing space early and prepared it before hand. So much so that his opponents seemed to be facing not the borderline washout of Project Orphan, but a Reality-warping Impossibility. In another life he probably would be a World-Class Artist or Stage Magician, and they Weaponized that talent. Now to see what else he can do with it.

Talents: In another life, Zacherie would be considered a world-class magician or artist. With a finely tuned and weaponized talent slight-of-hand, misdirection, and ability to play mind games with opponents he can in effect simulate magical powers if via technical means. He carries the Bat's legacy of theatricality and psychological warfare. He's also a Batman-tier detective and hacker, if not quite to that level.
Weapon(s): Shock-Circuitry in his gloves.
Gadgets: Yes, the Smoke will use any tool he can get his hands on. Even steal them from supervillains. Shirukin made to look like playing cards are a favorite.
Vehicle(s): Motorcycle

Thank you for your submission. Just stand by for now. We'll see if we get any more character sheets. I need a full cast in order to move forward with this idea. If I get more than I need, then I'll only be choosing what I think will be the best concepts that fit the game.  :-)

Annnd she’s finished! I did leave her Story rather vague and ambiguous for the sake of easier editing in connections and so on. Hope she’s acceptable.

Face Claim: Jasmine Sanders.

Full Name: Charlotte Jäger. [False identity.]
Alias: Viper. “Nine” is the name she arrived at the League of Assassins with.
Age: 22 Years.
Gender: Female.
Sexuality: Heteroflexible.
Race: African-American/Caucasian.
Ethnicity: German-American.
Height: 5’9” ½
Weight: 132 lbs. [59 kg.]
Hair Color: Blonde.
Eye Color: Blue.
Build: Svelte, Athletic.
Complexion: Tan/Golden.
General Description: Tall, slim, and elegant, Viper has developed a curious taste for the finer things in life following her freedom from the League of Assassins. This typically shows in her choice of day to day attire. She either looks like a woman straight from the front page of a high fashion magazine in form fitting dresses and designer pumps, or an incredibly casual everyday citizen favoring leather jackets, distressed jeans and clean sneakers with little even moderately memorable about her. She’s turning heads the moment she enters a room, or you wouldn’t think twice of her, there’s not much of an in between.

Costume Description: Visual Reference
When not in her street attire, Viper dresses in all black, typically form fitting leather cat suits with minor accents of protective lightweight armor capable of withstanding heat, cold and most forms of sharp penetration short of close range or high caliber gunfire. She is rarely without a full body cloak complete with a hood and a full face mask, a utility belt, and thigh and calf rigs for holding both additional handguns and throwing knives. Her attire is traditionally void of color, sans the scale-pattern skull of her face mask which is an acid green and designed for intimidation. Her weapons also bear the same acid green calling card engravement in the shape of a coiled viper.

Personality: Cold, brash and standoffish are usually the first thoughts that come to mind of anyone on a first meeting. Viper is a no-nonsense woman of incredibly few words, and the only thing worse than her patience is her temper. Her quiet and reserved nature often make her difficult to read, though, when she does bother to grace her company with a few words her deadpan tone and blunt tendencies typically leave those around her feeling inferior, insulted or downright hurt. Viper rarely intends to come off as mean or apathetic, but when you grow up the way she and the other Orphans did, it’s kind of hard not to be a little rough around the edges.

Her sense of humor is morbid at best. She neither receives nor gives compliments very well. Viper is highly competitive, she hates to lose at anything, and is notoriously poor at working in a unit. Prideful, and a tad bit arrogant, she often assumes she knows best even when outmatched by a more intelligent operative or more capable leader, as such can be seen as a liability at times. She rarely opens up to anyone and does indeed have extensive abandonment issues, often leading her to push others away even when they have only good intentions in mind toward her.

When on the job, particularly when dealing with undercover work, Viper may seem like an entirely different person… vibrant, conversational, flirtatious, even—make no mistake, this is a very thin facade, she’s never been very good at holding the mask for more than a few months… though she has never found she needs to. When it comes to her work, she likes to wrap it up quickly and be back home to feed her dogs by the end of the week, including travel time.

Likes: Animals, especially dogs, who she considers far superior to human beings for their limitless potential of love and loyalty. She enjoys walking in the rain, fictional novels, live music (classical and jazz in particular) and food from all corners of the world. She is most fond of firearms and considers cleaning and upkeep a favored hobby… as you can imagine, she spends an impeccable amount of time at the shooting range, though she doesn’t really need the practice. Viper is fond of her silence, cleanliness, and having space.

Dislikes: Having her personal space invaded/being touched without permission—she’s broken fingers for less. People who talk a lot, she walks around with ear plugs or ear buds in to prevent the disturbance of other people speaking. Sugary sweet nonsense… she takes her coffee black, and wouldn’t be caught dead eating a candy bar. She is not a fan of authority, laws or restrictions. She doesn’t really like going undercover, but she’ll do so if a mission requires it.

Psychological Quirks: Viper is highly adept, in the way that she can learn most things at a disturbingly fast rate, from cooking to combat. She may not be masterful at a new task right away but the basic structure and sequence of things sets quickly in her mind… it comes in handy especially when it comes to learning new languages, or mimicking normal everyday civilian behavior.

She has a massive fear of pitch black darkness, and deep bodies of water, though you wouldn’t ever know… she tends to utilize her weaknesses to her advantage, and has pushed herself to not only work primarily during sundown hours, but to be a relatively decent swimmer as well. Viper is also victim to a broken mentality in the way that she harbors many repressed memories. Should she ever find herself hit with recall of her grim past, there’s no telling how she may handle it… she’s a literal ticking time bomb in that sense.

Story: The truth of the matter is… she doesn’t really remember anything before she was brought in on Project Orphan at only five years old, and the only thing she was ever told about where she came from was that she had been sold over to the League of Assassins, chosen out of fifteen German children utilized by an unnamed organization as child soldiers… they called her “Nine”, and she had already killed five men before she came under Talia al Ghul’s wing.

She was a promising youth, and if not for her temper, stubborn nature and constant attempts to escape the organization she might have been perfect. Merciless and hollow, it would take years before Viper began to show even the faintest signs of human compassion or interaction, at times startling even herself with a small act of kindness toward her “brothers” and “sisters”. She underwent every training exercise with grace and precision, and seemed to develope a disdain for the more capable orphans who had a tendency to bully the weakest of the flock. Upon the final rite, she felt fear for the first time in her life… she saw herself, in the Dream, surrounded by thousands of deadly pit viper snakes and felt almost consumed by the vision. She coded at one point, and clawed her way back from the brink of death… her recovery was slow, but certain. When the opportunity of freedom arose Viper was gone without so much as a goodbye, fleeing to Europe like a bat out of hell.

Her first thought of her new life was to return to Germany, and try to establish some manner of identity. She didn’t know anything about who she was… she had no idea who her parents were, or if they were even alive. She also quickly discovered the world gave nothing for free—she took up work as a waitress at an upscale gentlemen's club in Berlin, and as it so happened it was very much the right ticket to delving deeper into the seedy underground world hidden in plain sight. By the end of her first year alone, Viper had gained quite a reputation as a contract killer, try as she might to live some manner of a normal life. She studied business on the side and slowly began to weave a web of connections, leaving a trail of bodies in her wake often times operating as an anonymous hitwoman to anyone who could meet her terms, trying to trace her origin through the network of darkness woven through the country.

She made “friends” along the way, business associates that helped carve out true terror to her name, that helped her establish some form of identity even if it was taken off a long dead stillborn, the freedom a birth certificate and passport offered were simply too tempting—her most valued supplied her with rare snake venom and other synthetic poisons which better allowed Viper to pick off leads one by one in her hunt for the organization who had smuggled her and fourteen other children across the ocean in a shipping container to barter them off like cattle. She had gotten so very close when the news rippled through the web of the darker half of society… and begrudgingly, she packed her things and her dogs, and set her sights on the one place she had hoped she would never have to return: Gotham.

Strength
Speed
Toughness
Martial Arts
Accuracy [PEAK]
Technical

Talents: Viper is known for her immaculate accuracy with many styles of weaponry but none better than her scoped rifle… she can hit a target dead center at over three thousand meters, her best shot recorded at 4,650 meters, shattering all previously held world records. While her skill with projectiles is most impressive, Viper is almost dismissive of her talent, constantly striving for utter perfection… her ability knows few limits, and when paired with her keen intelligence and knack for improvising she’s made the most of ricocheting metal balls off of pipes in desperate situations even, in order to neutralize a target. Long before Viper will assemble her rifle however, she is far more keen on utilizing throwing knives, and takes great pleasure in lacing her blades with venom or synthetic poison to procure a desired effect, be it sleep, paralysis, or excruciatingly painful death.

Outside of her work based talents, she has a keen mind, a nearly eidetic memory, making her an impeccably fast learner: she can repeat songs played on instruments remarkably well, she can recall phrases spoken to her word for word even if they are in a language she is unfamiliar with, and she can typically pick up most actions she’s seen performed before her with acceptable results. In no way is her ability to learn quickly at the peak level of human performance, but it certainly is impressive to say the least.

Weapon(s): Her primary weapon is a Barret M82 A1 sniper rifle, and she carries it around in the false bottom of an old guitar case. The case itself has been customized to fool even the most adept metal detectors allowing Viper to place her weapon where ever she needs long before she finds herself in need of it.

Gadgets:

Laced Throwing Knives: Typically there are at least twelve throwing knives on her person at all times. They are typically concealed, easy to access and almost always laced with snake venom.

Grappling Hook Gun/Zipline Anchor: She’s not crazy about heights but in the event of needing to either reach an otherwise impossible area quickly or to get the hell down from one; the grappling gun does the job. She’s utilized the zipline effect too many times at this point to go without this gadget.

Flash Grenade/Smoke Bomb: For swift means of cover when under fire or met with multiple foes, she carries one of each meant to disorient and confuse her enemies long enough for a swift retreat. Her smoke bombs typically contain pepper gas, but she’s been known to utilize nitrous oxide from time to time as well, especially when it comes to civilian interference.

Glock 19 9mm: She carries two, and they are always fully loaded with additional clips, and their accompanying pistol suppressors either in her handbag or backpack, whichever she’s sporting for the occasion. These standard issue handguns aren’t at all pretty but they’re practical, they don’t jam and they get the job done when she needs them to. Of all weapons she tends to lace, the bullets of her handguns she does not.

Venom: Viper utilizes snake venom and synthetic poisons to her advantage, and their potency range from mild irritants, to paralysis inducing neurotoxins, to full on life threatening poisons that enter the blood stream rapidly and cause excruciating pain and irreversible damage. It is rare she will opt for venom that will kill quickly, she’s rather fond of playing the long game.

Contrary to her code name, she will use the venom of any sort of snake that catches her fancy, and oftentimes keeps the antivenoms for her laced weapons on her person as well in the event of unplanned circumstances like friendly fire or being attacked with one of her own weapons. She’s known to lace her projectile weapons, bullets and blades alike… and has even been rumored to lace her lipstick when the occasion calls for it.

Vehicle(s): Yamaha R1 in Black/Green

Familiar:
Hilda, Brutus and Charcoal… her dogs are her babies, if you’re smart you won’t mess with them.
