Odyssey of the Dragonlords

At the dawn of time, war between gods and titans left the landscape of Thylea forever changed. Thousands of years later, the first mortals arrived, carried by ship and dragon.

The Dragonlords were the champions who overthrew the Titans 500 years ago and forged the Oath of Peace. But the power of the Oath has waned, and now the Titans seek vengeance.

You are one of the heroes called by prophecy to end the conflict once and for all. Poets will sing of your deeds for centuries to come... If you survive.

Created by the lead designer of the early BioWare games, Odyssey of the Dragonlords is a Greek-inspired campaign for D&D 5e. Players will become their own Epic Heroes in a custom world filled with a unique pantheon. They can choose an Epic Path to customize their character's arc, and in addition to that, they may take advantage of OotD's unique races and subclasses, or stick to the official D&D material.

First-time players and veterans alike may join. Familiarity with Greek mythology is not required. The campaign is pretty linear but sometimes allows freedom on the order in which goals are completed. It takes characters all the way up to level 15-16. The disclaimer is that I'm a newbie GM who has been playing D&D for only a year so far. Beyond what is built into the campaign, I will try to allow minor freedoms where appropriate, and maybe that may change as I grow more comfortable.

Thylea World Primer

The free player's guide has the lore, as well as the character creation information. It's a lot more than I can reasonably copy to E, so players who want to learn more beyond the following primer should grab the guide. So that you don't have to go through the checkout process of the e-store, you can download the guide from my Google drive.

Thylea

(Click for a larger map.)

Thylea is a forgotten continent where the fey creatures make war upon civilization and gods walk the earth in the guise of mortals. Adventurers who explore the oceans of their world to their farthest reaches will eventually discover the Maelstrom: a terrifying region of hurricanes, whirlpools, and jagged rocks. Those lucky enough to survive days within its wrath will find themselves in the glittering expanse of the Forgotten Sea.

Oaths & Curses - Oaths are taken very seriously. Breaking oaths or violating the laws of Thylea may cause you to be afflicted by dreadful curses.
Bronze - A lack of iron deposits has caused Thylea to resort to bronze weapons and armor. Developed techniques allow blacksmiths to make them as effective as iron and steel.
Native Races
Centaurs, Satyrs, and Sirens. These creatures have existed in Thylea for thousands of years. They are common in rural areas but somewhat rare in cities.
Gygans. The gygans are a race of ancient cyclops that were mostly exterminated during the First War.
Medusae. Medusae are mortals who have been cursed by dark powers. They are secretive and very rare.
Minotaurs. Minotaurs are cursed tribes of humans. They are usually treated very poorly in cities.
Settler Races
Humans. Humans are plentiful. Some were shipwrecked here thousands of years ago, and others came over with the Dragonlords 500 years ago. Humans populate all major cities and settlements.
Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings. These races are less common than humans, but they populate all major cities and settlements in fair numbers.
Half-orcs. Half-orcs are rare, and they are not stigmatized as they are in other lands. There are no orcs.
Tieflings. Tieflings are called “Stygians” and are assumed to be servants of Lutheria. They are secretive and rare.
Dragonborn. Dragonborn are exceedingly rare. If they exist in Thylea, then they are hidden away in remote places. Thyleans would be shocked to see one.

The Titans
Thylea is named after the mother goddess who watches over the continent. She and her husband, Kentimane the Hundred Handed, bore many children. These ancient gods form a pantheon called “the Titans.” The two most powerful of their children are:

Sydon, Lord of Storms
Sydon is the ancient Titan who once ruled over Thylea, long before the arrival of mortals. He seeks to dominate the land once again—to be worshipped by all mortals. He controls all the waters of Thylea, including the weather, and sacrifices must be offered to him daily.

Lutheria, Mistress of Death
Lutheria is the sister-wife of Sydon. She has dominion over the underworld, and she seeks to corrupt mortals and capture their souls for her own amusement. In spite of this, she is honored by frequent sacrifices and wine festivals throughout the land.

The Dragonlords
For many ages, Thylea was a wilderness of centaurs, satyrs, cyclopes, and other creatures who worshipped the Titans. Mortals who came to Thylea lived in small, defenseless tribes—until the arrival of the Dragonlords.

The Dragonlords were an order of heroic, dragon-riding mortals who came to Thylea five centuries ago. They initiated the First War against the Titans and defeated their armies. Most of the Dragonlords and their dragons were killed during this conflict.

The Five Gods
When all seemed lost, the mortals of Thylea were saved by the sudden appearance of the Five Gods, who walked the land in mortal guise. They forced the Titans into a temporary truce, called the Oath of Peace.

Kyrah - Goddess of Music
Mytros - Goddess of Dawn
Pythor - God of Battle
Vallus - Goddess of Wisdom
Volkan - God of the Forge

The Oath of Peace
The Oath of Peace has prevented open warfare with the Titans for five hundred years. But now, the truce is ending. The power of the Five Gods wanes, and the Titans prepare to wage war upon mortals once again.

The Oracle's Prophecy
The Oracle is a water nymph named Versi. She is Thylea's most famous prophet, and she has recently had a terrifying vision of the future. She has called for a band of mortal heroes to join together to confront the Titans.

Timeline

The Settler Kingdoms
There are three major kingdoms in Thylea.

The City of Mytros
The kingdom of Mytros was the first kingdom founded by the Dragonlords. It is the largest city in all of Thylea and the center of commerce, religion, and politics. The ruler of Mytros is King Acastus, one of the last descendants of the Dragonlords.

The City of Estoria
Estoria is an ancient stronghold that has resisted centuries of attacks by centaurs, cyclopes, manticores, and other dangers which thrive in the steppes. The ruler of Estoria is King Pythor, the God of Battle.

The City of Aresia
The kingdom of Aresia has long been a rival to the kingdom of Mytros. The two cities have been engaged in dozens of wars over the last several hundred years, which are collectively known as the Aresian campaigns. The ruler of Aresia is Queen Helen.

Who are the Characters?
The characters are the heroes who have been called by the Oracle's prophecy to save the world from the tyranny of the Titans. More immediately, however, their journey begins with a summons to the Heartlands, to a humble rural inn east of Estoria called The Sour Vintage. They each have reasons for answering the call, but rumors of their coming have already spread across the land. They might have already committed deeds or misdeeds that have given them a small reputation, or they might be relatively anonymous.

The new characters will meet the current party at the Oracle's grotto. They seek answers to their life's greatest goals. Little do they know that the Oracle is under attack.

Player Character Information
Characters can be Thylean natives, or they might have arrived recently, likely having shipwrecked. The guide provides a better feel for a nonnative's experiences. Those interested in that origin may want to read about it.

Races
Centaur, Medusa, Minotaur, Nymph, Satyr, and Siren are available through OotD. All core/PHB D&D races are allowed.

Subclasses
All official classes and subclasses are allowed, in addition to the subclasses unique to OotD:

Barbarian - Herculean Path
Bard - College of Epic Poetry
Cleric - Prophecy Domain
Druid - Circle of Sacrifice
Fighter - Hoplite Soldier
Monk - Way of the Shield
Paladin - Oath of the Dragonlord
Ranger - Amazonian Conclave
Rogue - The Odysean
Sorcerer - Demigod Origin
Warlock - Patron: The Fates
Wizard - Academy Philosopher

That said, it would be great to see a variety of classes. Barbarian, wizard, rogue, cleric, and fighter have already been taken.

Epic Paths
These are a feature unique to OotD. The section starts on pg 20 of the player's guide. Examples include the Demi-God, the Cursed One, the Dragonslayer. They give characters personal motivations and mechanical benefits throughout the adventure. They are optional, but you might miss out on an experience.

Unless two players are open to sharing, each one should have a unique path. These are the ones that are not available:
The Vanished One
The Haunted One
The Doomed One
The Lost One
The Cursed One

I am open to helping a player create a custom epic path. Just let me know what you want to do and we can go from there.

Backgrounds
On pg 19, the player's guide has Thylea tie-ins for class backgrounds. They're not "true" backgrounds in the mechanical sense--they don't have proficiencies and equipment. They're just flavor texts to explain how your character might have come into a class. They could be worth looking at.

Social Contract

M/M players of any gender may join. No one has to partake in sex and romance. The intent is to at least give M/M players another avenue in which to connect.

The game will go in Extreme for the sake of gore and kink freedom.

Story will be the focus. There won't be DM-run group scenes revolving around smut, but this is E, and players can of course indulge among themselves or NPCs.

Be respectful. Mind a player's boundaries.

Stirring OOC drama will get you kicked.

Understand the difference between IC and OOC. Try to keep metagaming to a minimum.

Be able to spell well and use good grammar. Be able to be sufficiently descriptive; D&D in play-by-post may work best with shorter posts, but we still want to see your character come to life. Write in third-person.

Characters may disagree and conflict, but they must always be able to cooperate with each other. Similarly, no lone wolves unless they can stick with the party and be cooperative.

I don't think evil characters would work too well for this campaign. That said, if you have an idea that you think can work, we can talk about it.

The group uses a Discord server for OOC. To join the game, you must be willing to join the server.

Gameplay & Rule Tweaks

Some of the below may change as we play. We'll discover what works and what doesn't and adapt accordingly.

Rolls & Maps
We will use Roll20 for encounter maps. If accepted, you will need to create an account if you don't have one already.

I'd prefer rolls be made on Roll20 or E so that there are fewer apps to check. Players who use D&D Beyond to host their character sheets can install the browser extension called Beyond20, which sends dice rolls to Roll20 from the sheet.

However, one additional note on D&D Beyond: last I checked, it does not have the OotD content officially. Maybe avoid using it if you want to take advantage of what the module offers.

Posting
The roleplay will be conducted in two-week rounds. This means that I, as the DM, will make a post, and all players will have at most two weeks to respond. Within reason, which player posts when doesn't matter so much. Character A may post first one round, and Character B may post first the next.

The sooner all players respond, the sooner the next DM post may happen.

If a player fails to reply within that time, that's okay! They will just be skipped and the next DM post will happen. The intent is to keep things moving, and the player can simply pick up from the most recent DM post. However, being skipped two or three times in a row will be grounds for being kicked from the game.

Of course, ideally, players would be communicative. If a player knows they lack the time or creative energy to post before the two weeks are up, they can summarize to the group what their character does and we can account for it accordingly. It's also okay to ask to be skipped or make a short post if you feel there isn't much your character can do/provide within a given round.

Leveling
Players will start at level 1.

We'll be using milestones.

Players may roll for their increased HP, and if the result is lower than the static increase, they may take the static one instead.

Combat
Initiative will be the order in which players post within a round.

If a player is silent through the allotted time, their character will take the Dodge action.

Drinking or administering any potion is a bonus action.

Instead of two dice rolls, critical damage will instead be one dice roll plus the max damage of the weapon/spell. Initially, this will not apply to enemies.

To expedite things, I will make the enemy's AC and HP public. Feel free to write in your character's hit/kill/miss once you've rolled for your attack. When an enemy is required to make a saving throw, you may roll for them, or I can roll it for you if you want to add the outcome to your post.

Joining

There are two spots open for those interested in joining our party! Just post interest in this thread. When I give the thumbs up, you can start on your character.

Character Creation

Players who have been approved can start this process. I'm happy to answer questions or help those who might be new to D&D.

The Primer section above specifies the races and classes allowed, as well as brief information on Epic Paths.

You can create a sheet using BBCode, which will be added to this post when it's time, or you can create a sheet in Roll20 or D&D Beyond if those apps feel more comfortable to you. I have the Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide, and Tasha's Cauldron on both. As mentioned earlier, though, D&D Beyond won't be a good choice if you want to take subclasses/races from OotD, because the content doesn't exist there officially.

Ability Scores
We'll be using the point-buy system. You can spend up to 27 points. Doing so can get you arrays like the following:

15 (+2), 14 (+2), 13 (+1), 12 (+1), 10 (+0), 8 (-1)
15 (+2), 15 (+2), 15 (+2), 8 (-1), 8 (-1), 8 (-1)

I want to see at least one score that is a -1 or +0.

Below, the ability score is on the left, and the cost is on the right.

8 - 0
9 - 1
10 - 2
11 - 3
12 - 4
13 - 5
14 - 7
15 - 9

Here is a convenient reference for what scores provide what modifiers:

8-9: -1
10-11: +0
12-13: +1
14-15: +2
16-17: +3
18-19: +4
20: +5

Racial Proficiencies
The customization rules in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything are available, which follows. That said, do not use the flexibility to min-max. If you do take advantage of the customization, please let me know what you are changing!

Any ability score increase granted by the race can be applied to a different ability. If the race has more than one score increase, they must still be applied to separate abilities. For example, a half-orc's default score increases are +2 Strength and +1 Constitution. You can switch the +2 to Dexterity and the +1 to Wisdom, but you cannot make a +3 Dexterity.

Most races have at least one language they speak in addition to Common. You may swap out those languages for others.

You may also swap out proficiencies like so based on type:

Skill for a different skill
Armor for a simple/martial weapon or a tool
Simple weapon for a different simple weapon or a tool
Martial weapon for a simple/martial weapon or a tool
Tool for a tool or a simple weapon

Alignments
I don't think evil characters would work too well for this campaign. That and I would be concerned about party cohesion. That said, if you have an idea that you think can work, we can talk about it.

Rumors
Wanna have some extra fun with your character? PM me with 2-3 rumors about your character that circulate in Thylea’s taverns. These may be rumors of your heroic exploits, ribald jokes about your past exploits, or even mean-spirited gossip. At least one of these rumors must be true, but the others may be exaggerations or outright fabrications.

Don't tell the others! The secret will make it more fun when they are introduced early in the game.

Other
Establish at least 2 personality traits and 1 flaw. Ideals and bonds are great and encouraged, but they don't have to be present for the submission if you prefer to develop your character as you play.

Backstories can be a couple of sentences or a few paragraphs. Try not to go overboard. If you decide to post a character sheet to the forum, you can omit secrets from public postings, of course, but please PM me the unredacted version.

If you're going to build a sheet on a third-party service and roll dice through those, and if you still want to post a sheet in the forum, you can keep things simple and omit the mechanical stuff from the sheet if that's simpler for you.

Always a fan of M/M group games, rare as they are. Definitely watching this to see where it goes. I went through the player's guide, there's a few things that could be of interest depending on needs. The stand-outs are a Minotaur Barbarian with the Demi-God Epic Path, a Medusae Warlock with the Fates as his Patron and the Dragonslayer Path, or an Oread Nymph, possibly Amazonian Ranger, with maybe The Gifted One Path; though it may need tweaked a bit to have it make sense.

Glad to hear you're interested! You got some nice diversity there, lol. We can definitely make adjustments to The Gifted One path if you do decide to go that route. The Amazons are pretty diverse racially. Both fey and humanoids can be found within their numbers. I think your nymph being a powerful and talented male within a female-dominated society could drive a lot of the resentment they might have felt while living among the tribe.

And in general I've thought the Dragonslayer Path poses an interesting juxtaposition with The Gifted One or The Vanished One, and elements of the campaign at large.

Someone else did express interest in the demi-god path via PM just a few hours before your post here. It could be something for you two to work out. I'm nudging them here. Maybe they'll come and say hello. ^^ All three of the concepts sound cool, though.

If anyone might like the idea of The Vanished One path but would much prefer to have been charmed by a nymph of the male persuasion, it's easy enough to give Versi a minor sex reassignment.

I was interested in an Aurae nymph demigod of war (Pythor/sorcerer).

I'm still working through the player book, but I have a mighty interest in the game!

Haha, I'm familiar enough with D&D to know it's better to have a mixture of ideas because you never know what a group is going to be lacking. I tend to spread my interest across a few concepts before settling in as a result. I'll probably muse on other ideas, too, especially with someone else leaning Demi-God. Melee types tend to be the least played so I like having one on the backburner in case we need a strong frontliner, and minotaurs are an enjoyable trope in general. Especially for M/M games ;) I do like Rangers though, they have some interesting specs to play around with, and part of me wants to consider options for a Rogue... We'll see.

And hey Lux, hey Envi! Good to see you both again. Any idea what you're leaning towards yet, Envi?

Envious

Hiya, Xurtan! I'm thinking my first choice would be a Satyr cleric to heal things. My second choice would be a Minotaur barbarian to smash things. And for epic paths, The Vanished One seems interesting!

Hey Xurtan, Envious! Two amazing writers!
Looking forward to writing with you again!

Either could definitely be interesting! Barbarians are a lot of fun, so are Clerics. I ran a Light Cleric for a few years in a game and had a blast fireballing demons, hah. Though it's hard to get around the satisfaction of just outright crushing your enemies with Rage.

Also tfw spending some time looking around at art for inspiration/general fun. The one downside to mythological races is it can be harder to find good art, really. I found a picture I really like for a human melee of some form, so that's probably my main lean. Rogue or Barbarian, likely. With Lux looking at Demi-God I'd probably consider Doomed One or Dragonslayer.

Hopefully we'll see a couple more people toss interest in!

I would like to plant a flag. Have a fun idea for a rogue (eventually taking the phantom subclass). A Dancer/Entertainer that somehow has a connection to Lutheria, The Lady of Dreams. A very interesting Deity of Dreams and Death, especially since worship involves the celebration of life. I figured an Entertainer felt good for that philosophy even if they don't outright worship them.

While male, they will be Effeminate, and I'm thinking elvish.

There are some wonderful writer here already, I see!  Well, I admit that I am interested in this too.  The idea of a dedicated M/M game is an intriguing one and it's an itch I have not been able to scratch for a while.  And it doesn't have at all do to with the idea of my character bottoming for centaurs and minotaurs and satyrs and dragons and maybe more and if I play a halfling or gnome they'd be even bigger and...ahem.  Never mind that.

I am nervous about being bad luck for group games.  And that I wouldn't be able to do the impressive source material justice.  But that said, I am very interested.

I have a few different initial ideas but nothing too fully fleshed out just yet and in no particular order.
1 - a wizard using the Academy Philosopher subclass from the sourcebook' likely a Stoic who has a decided weakness for sins of the flesh, particularly using them to try and deal with the suffering he's endured as either The Cursed One or The Doomed One.  Or a Hedonist just to be honest about it.  Not sure about race but variant human is a strong thought if we're using that.

2 - a sorcerer using the demigod origin and epic path.  Likely an elf or maybe a dwarf here, but I do like half-elves too.  I might also start this as a paladin and multiclass to sorcerer?

3 - a paladin, not sure about subclass (Oath of Watchers?  Maybe Oath of Ancients?), but using The Lost One epic path or some version of it to play the guy who's not from here and is experiencing all this fresh and new.  Good to have around for exposition. ;)

Xurtan

More people, huzzah! Hello! I don't know about being bad luck for group games Armphid, but I know you maintain a spot among top intro posts to games for me, back from Strange Aeons. ;) And hah, equally that's definitely not why my initial lean was to consider playing a minotaur *whistles innocently* Nope, definitely not the fact they're hung like a... well. Just trying to find art can be a pain. Right now my current favorite piece I was considering using was this one (NSFW). Which, while not a minotaur, is one I'm fond of for a melee--I'd just crop it a bit. The pauldrons tempt me towards wolf totem barbarian.

Somewhat depends on what people settle into, though, and who all gets approved; so I'm keeping options and hunting around for art that has a similar uh, energy to it. There's some decent half-orc options, at least, not sure outside of that. If there's a decent mix of everything, I could probably finagle an Artificer to fill in some gaps. So to speak.

Sounds like you have some good ideas, though. Lost One is amusing just because it's a good way to run afoul of how Oaths and such work in this setting.

Let’s add some more bad luck! I’d be keen to put together something for this assuming there’s room. I’d prefer Exiled Satyr sorcerer, but as I’m coming up at the backend of recruitment, I’d be willing to fill whatever spot the team was lacking!

I can't talk concepts yet - I barely know what I'm doing when it comes to character creation, but I'm more than happy to chat once I get further in the process!

also, yaaaaaas minotaurs <3

Well, given the setting, I wouldn’t mind doing a sort of “brothers of the blade”/hoplite background with another character, where despite their different backgrounds they’ve trained and fought together under the same banner before. I’m still a little nebulous with my character selection as I’m still at work. Lol

Well, I have my Base Concept down an Aresian Dancer(Rogue with entertainer background). The culture looks interesting and it seems a nice way to make use of the Chakram weapon introduced by this setting. Still trying to figure out the Epic path for him, but something to think about later.

If anyone has a concept that might mesh well I would love to work with you to flesh things out.

Character sheet is in the first post! Hopefully it won't be too awful to edit. xD When I give you the thumbs up, you can go ahead and start. I'll PM the Roll20 invitation shortly. If you decide you want to make a sheet on there, just poke me and I'll get you set up. If you decide to use D&D Beyond, I can create a campaign on there so you can share your sheet, and if you want to use it to make dice rolls, please grab the Beyond20 browser extension. I haven't used it and can't speak for how well it works, or how easy it is to set up, but it integrates D&D Beyond sheets with Roll20.

And there is no rush on anyone's part. Take your time discussing and settling on concepts. :-)

*Drool*

You've probably come across half of these already, but if it helps, I have half-orcs here and here halfway down plus a few at the bottom. I don't think any of them beat the human image, though. :P There's a SFW version here if you do decide to use that image and want to save time on edits.

I'm pretty much ready to give you the thumbs up whenever you do decide what class and epic path you wanna run with.

Nice! Are you still thinking of tie-ins to Lutheria? The warning there is that she is gonna be one of the baddies, but, hey, that can always be fun to toy with depending on how far you wanna go with it. Criminal types like her because she's regarded as being pretty nonjudgmental, and she's considered to be the creator of at least some of the fey races, including satyrs and nymphs (Sydon tends to get credit for the powerful races). Wine festivals are one of the events cities will throw in her honor. They do plays, but I could see dancing fitting in too. We can talk more via PM too if you'd prefer the privacy.

I would like to see you settle on an epic path before I give ya the green light. Mainly I just don't want a couple of people deciding during character creation, only to find out they chose the same path after spending the time working it into their character.

Eh, I'll probably do something boneheaded with the source material at some point. I fully admit I'm not well read on Greek mythology. I just liked the campaign's lore and thought it sounded fun and different. Worst case, you'll just fit right in!

I like your ideas so far. Lux already expressed interest in a sorcerer demigod. I wouldn't recommend anyone sharing an epic path with someone else if they want something that feels more personal, but if both of you are okay with that and even like the idea of being half-brothers, a paladin multiclassing into sorcerer sounds like it could be fun. Ultimately, it's Lux's call, and there's no pressure on him to give a yay to sharing the path.

A Stoic with a weakness for sins of the flesh sounds like an enjoyable struggle/contradiction, and in general the Lost One path seems like it would be fun to play with, pretty much for the reasons Xurtan said, haha. I could see most of the paladin subclasses working pretty well for it in their own ways, honestly. Out of curiosity, is there a reason you're thinking of those two?

I was reading over the epic paths since posting. I actually think "The Doomed One." Path might be the best path for what I have in mind.

One of the suggestions (for monsterous races, but might be able to be adapted for mortal races) was that instead of a dragonlord as your ancestor it may be Lutheria. But if not that, then maybe his fate draws him closer to the powers of the underworld. Basically a lore reason for the abilities of the Phantom subclass.

Either path would work as thier are plenty of examples of someone taking dark gifts and using them for the forces of good. (Spawn, Ghost rider and the like.)

Hah, I have run into a variety of those but it's good to have options. Also I hadn't seen that SFW version actually, awesome! That makes that significantly easier. It really is hard to beat that particular image. I'm leaning V. Human Barbarian with the Haunted One Path. Need to work out details, but I could see losing his family and sort of chasing insanity for a bit being the reason he's a Barbarian.

For ease I'll probably use the Roll20 sheet.

Though if I WAS going to go half-orc, this one isn't bad at all...

SPELLS KNOWN

lvl.     name     target     range     duration     effect
{0}     Ray of Frost     Creature     60 ft     Instant     A frigid beam of blue-white light streaks toward a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, it takes 1d8 cold damage, and its speed is reduced by 10 feet until the start of your next turn.
{0}     Dancing Lights     See effect     120ft     Concentration, 1 min     You create up to four torch-sized lights within range, making them appear as torches, lanterns, or glowing orbs that hover in the air for the duration. You can also combine the four lights into one glowing vaguely humanoid form of Medium size. Whichever form you choose, each light sheds dim light in a 10-foot radius. As a bonus action on your turn, you can move the lights up to 60 feet to a new spot within range. A light must be within 20 feet of another light created by this spell, and a light winks out if it exceeds the spell’s range.
{0}     Light     Object     Touch     1 hour     You touch one object that is no larger than 10 feet in any dimension. Until the spell ends, the object sheds bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet. The light can be colored as you like. Completely covering the object with something opaque blocks the light. The spell ends if you cast it again or dismiss it as an action. If you target an object held or worn by a hostile creature, that creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw to avoid the spell.
{0}     True Strike     Enemy     30 ft     Concentration, 1 round     Point a finger at a target in range. Your magic grants you a brief insight into the target’s defenses. On your next turn, you gain advantage on your first attack roll against the target, provided that this spell hasn’t ended.
{1}     Charm Person     Humanoid     30 ft     1 hour     The humanoid you can see within range must make a Wisdom save throw, and does with advantage if you or your companions are fighting it. If it fails the save throw, it is charmed by you until the spell ends or until it is harmed. The charmed creature regards you as a friendly acquaintance. When the spell ends, the creature knows it was charmed by you.
{1}     Expeditious Retreat     Self     Self     Bonus Action; Concentration, 10 mins     When you cast this, and as a bonus action on each of your turns until the spell ends, you can Dash.

APPEARANCE
Appears to be the age of 20, but he is technically a hundred years older due to being cocooned in the cosmos.

Behind his shoulder blades, Tattoo or Birthmark: the god of battle and Estorian King Pethor's Emblem (Golden hammer and five stars).

Cosmos is like a chameleon; dark-haired and dark-skinned in the daytime, slowly transformed bright-haired and bright-skinned in the nighttime. His starry eyes reflect the glare of the silver moon and the golden sun. Veins in his body sometimes coruscate like constellations. Tiny glowing motes or glimmers would sometimes appear in his aura. He keeps up with the latest fashion, normally dressing in black, white, red, gold, or silver. He has a striking cuteness of a god. Breezes and the constellations of the night sky, the Aurae look like beautiful humans except that in dim lighting, their features are sometimes illuminated by cosmic light.

PERSONALITY
He may act elitist, royal, and seductive, but he's actually very nerdy, being a philosopher, astrologer, and astronomer. (Constellations are on pg 59 of PDF: 0 The Bear, I The Gygan, II The Prisoner, III The Golden Heart, IV The Trickster, V The Bard, VI The Warrior, VII The Centaur, VIII The Queen, IX The Twins, X The Ant, XI The Dragon, XII The Nymph, XIII The Spear, XIV The Chariot, XV The Blacksmith, XVI The Titan, XVII The Dreamer.) Aurae are considered to be the wisest and most serious-minded nymphs, as they spend their time reflecting upon the eternal nature of the stars. His regal radiance is one of the reasons fans and admirers become drawn to him, like an anglerfish but he doesn't eat them or prey on them or anything like that! He's more invested in his epic path. If paths merge, he then would dedicate to great deeds in public places where all can see. He rather grew bored of the tedious standing and posing for hours until they chiseled a replica of him out of marble and grew to learn their lavish attention was all for gaining sex and power. Several personality traits include: 'I connect everything that happens to me to a grand cosmic plan.' and 'I see omens in every event and action. The gods try to speak to us, we just need to listen.' Can stare down a hell hound without flinching.

IDEALS
The best part of it all, his destiny is getting to save both mom and dad though he doesn't personally know him (yet!), bring them back together, and crown mom queen and himself prince and rightful heir of Estoria. "Nation. My city, nation, or people are all that matter."

Heroic Tasks
• Find your mother Harmony.
• Defeat Pythor’s greatest foe. According to legend this is a green dragon known as Hexia.
• Finish building Pythor’s greatest weapon. Choose either: ››Rod of Lordly Might; or ››Luck Blade (can be any type of sword)

BONDS
I fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.

FLAWS
Because of his upbringing, Cosmos's pride may be his hubris, a hamartia or one nemesis too many threatening to turn his comedy into a tragedy. He rushes into danger, not considering death as a real possibility. He expects to be a god and save the day because so many mortals told him they believed so. I have little respect for anyone who is not a proven warrior.

BACKSTORY

QuoteCosmos is a mortal child of Pythor, the god of battle. His temper is legendary. From an early age, he demonstrated unnatural talent in everything that interested him. He's never met his father, but his aurae nymph mother Harmony was a woman famed for both her beauty and her skill as a harpist. She was carried away by a green dragon when he was very young. A family of soldiers adopted him, and then raised him to be a mighty champion for the city of Mytros. Cosmos is a favorite child of the city, and bards already sing of his great deeds while travelling the Heartlands. As a youth, the Oracle predicted a great destiny, one in which he might be able to join the pantheon alongside his divine father, who has recently fallen into despair and drunkenness. According to the Oracle, Pythor can be brought back from his drunken oblivion if Cosmos is able to achieve the three great labors that defeated Pythor. He must find Pythor’s last great love (his mother), defeat his greatest foe, and finish building his greatest weapon. Do these tasks, and his father will be redeemed.

All his heroics and glamour distract from his hidden fear: never finding where he really belongs in this vast universe. If he aligned everything right again, maybe his life will start making sense. His family is ruined -- scattered like spiraling stars -- and his life has long been a barren orbiting path but his mighty love will remake them an eternal constellation. Star-gazing brought him nothing but more questions and heartaches. Cosmos has decided that only by giving his parents a happy ending will his fate become clear. He was raised by and among soldiers, and aided them with his scouting, navigating, and advancing in the dark.

QuoteCosmos is often recognized in large crowds of people. If he moves through a crowded area without moving stealthily, there is a 25% chance that he will be mobbed by admirers for 1 hour. (for Mytros level 11; for elsewhere level 3 fame)

I didn't see that, so I will totally pass on the sorcerer demigod.  I had the least idea who I wanted that guy to be, anyway.

As far as the paladin subclasses, there was no real reason other than I think they're among the better paladin subclasses, to be honest.  But if I play a Paladin with the The Lost One path, they tend to be all about their oaths anyway, so I might not bring the kind of trouble that's expected with that path.  Playing with the Conquest or Vengeance Paladin could also be neat, but Conquest at least seemed like it was made more for NPC villains than for players.

I could also do a Wizard as The Lost One but then he wouldn't be from the Mystros Academy so he woudn't have the whole philosophy thing.  Could be a Bladesinger, I've been curious to try one of them.  I've also wanted to try playing the Rune Knight Fighter or Eldritch Knight Fighter and never have.  Hmm...

So far we've got a sorcerer, a barbarian, and a rogue.  That's a lot of bases covered.  I'm really not feeling Druid or Cleric but I do see where we could use a dedicated healer type...mmrrr.
