The creature returns

When your character was in their late teens/early 20s, they were visited by a supernatural creature (an angel, a demon, a mermaid/man, a faery etc.). Your character and the creature stayed together as a married couple for a year and a day before the creature departed "for a lifetime".

Recently, there has been a death of someone close to your character. It could be a parent, a dear friend, their new spouse. Either way, the person your character loved second to the creature has died. Now, decades later the creature returns to your character's doorstep, untouched by age and unaware of the intervening years, to begin again for another year + one.
