WHO AM I
Welcome! I am Pilkunnussija. I post from the Central Time Zone in the United States. I have been RP’ing for many years now, and professionally do a fair bit of writing – albeit the writing I do in my day job is far less interesting than what I do here. I’m an American from the Midwest, so I bring that perspective to many of my games. However, I am not afraid of doing research to try and write other times and places effectively. I acknowledge I have my comfort zone, but I’m willing to work outside of it.

I am also a cis-ace male, but I do not particularly care about writer gender or sexuality. Personally, I am trying to grow as a writer, so I relish the opportunity to write characters outside of my own experience and try to make them nuanced, individual people. I welcome folks trying to write outside the confines of their own experience. So, if you see something below that strikes your fancy, hit me up and make your pitch.  I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Below, after a little more introductory text, you’ll find some ideas I’d like to explore. Some are more fleshed out than others. Some ideas are also firmer than others. I am also open to hearing your ideas; if one of my thoughts inspires you in a different but related direction, don’t be afraid to make your pitch. Or, if you like an idea I’ve tossed out, but want to change some of the details, let me know! There’s very little I’m not willing to modify in service to a good game.

WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR
I prefer story over smut. I enjoy writing sexual encounters, but I prefer the buildup and the story around them. If you’re looking to just chain together a series of sex scenes, I may not be the right writer for you. Granted, some stories might dive into sex quickly, but even if things start with a sex scene, I’d like to spend time exploring why afterwards.

I don’t have any particular need for lengthy posts. I prefer longer posts simply because the more detail we provide each other, the better posts we can produce. Plus, the game will move better if both of us move the action along.

Personally, I like writing supporting characters. Writing characters beyond the main pairing gives a world verisimilitude, and allows for interesting scenes to develop outside of the bounds of the relationship between the main characters. Because of this, I’m open to writing multiple characters or GM’ing games, but I would prefer to play a single main character in front of a supporting cast.

I don’t expect technical perfection, but I can’t work with someone who is unreadable. If English isn’t your first language or your writing isn’t technically perfect, don’t worry. I can manage around some typos.

As far as sexual situations, if it’s not waste or vomit, pitch it! I’m open to most anything.

I am only willing to RP on the Elliquiy boards. I’ll chat and plan all day long via PM but I don’t like playing there, and I am totally unwilling to take anything to a different venue.

If you see something you like, slide into my PMs. Please don’t reply to this thread.

Now, what you've all been waiting for: the ideas!

Slice of Life

No dragons, no ray guns. Just life as we – relatively – know it. Most of these plots are set today, or in the near future or recent past.

(FxF) Out Of The Mists Of Memory: YC and MC haven’t seen each other in years. Yet a chance encounter, a face glimpsed on the street or a random “Suggested Friend” brought our worlds back together after they shattered that fateful night at the end of school. We had loved like a star, and our relationship perished with the same atomic fury as we both went our separate ways, until now.

Perhaps we both tried to move on in the intervening years. Perhaps we didn’t. Perhaps we couldn’t. For whatever reason, one or both of us moved away, making the shock of the sudden reminder of that still-smoldering flame so much sharper. Now, six years later, MC is sitting in the coffee shop proposed as a safe, neutral space, hands sweaty and shaking just like they had been on our first date, as she waits for you to sit down.

Memory can’t be denied when it comes calling, and ever since that chance reminder, small notes have kept YC in the forefront of MC’s mind: the smell of cigarette smoke passing by, a worn photograph in the bottom of an old shoebox, a few poorly-strummed chords of our favorite song. The memories are so vivid. But nothing compares to seeing your face again, changed just enough to remind of the years since gone, taking the seat across from me as we explore where we both are, where we came from, and where we might go from here…

For this plot, I’m looking for a revive of a similar concept I tried playing out with another player. Alas, the game died out, and I would love to find another player willing to pick this concept back up. One of the defining characteristics of this game was the non-linear storytelling. We were exploring not only their reunion, but through both solo and scene flashbacks their teenage relationship, what made it so beautiful, and how it ended. Basically, stripped of all the frilly language above, this is a game about a reunion later in life of a pair of girls who loved each other in high school but broke up at the end, exploring not only the intensity of their young love, but also the circumstances that led to their breakup, and what happens after their reunion.

(MxF) Love At The Speed Of F1: “If she were a man, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.” That was the last the team principal would say on the issue before doing something that hadn’t even been tried since 1992: hiring a female driver. Not to test, but to drive, and for an entire season. Sure YC has funding, but MC was looking to spend his last year in F1 building a resume for sports cars or a slot on the pit wall, not navigating a fucking media circus across the garage from a teammate with no experience. And who knows if YC has any pace? MC doesn’t want what is probably MC’s last year to be a complete waste…

This plot is heavily inspired by my love of racing and draws heavily from the 1966 film Grand Prix. I envision my character as a Jean-Pierre Sarti type: older, been around the paddock a while, thinking about other things and legacy. While for your character, I’m envisioning a young fire breather with pace and funding who just needs a guiding hand to show her the ropes at the pinnacle of motorsport. I’m fine with flipping the roles here, but I would prefer to keep the genders where they are, since part of the fun in this plot is exploring the upheaval of a woman fast enough, bold enough, and tough enough to convince Formula One to let her break in. I am also open to flipping the roles as well and taking on the young firebreather.

(AnyxAny) School Days: I don’t have a specific plot in mind here, only a setting. I love playing in high school settings. While Out Of The Mists Of Memory above is also a high school plot, here I’m looking for something simpler. Perhaps it’s a student x student romance. An opposites attract theme or the petty dramas of a single social group. Perhaps it’s a fish out of water story, either with a new kid, or someone who has a secret to hide. Maybe it’s a student and a teacher falling into an illicit relationship. Maybe there’s a power dynamic enforced or subverted, or maybe it’s simply love that must remain hidden. I’m open to all sorts of ideas in this setting. Feel free to pitch me whatever you’re thinking. I’m open to playing either gender in this sort of setting, and almost any sort of role.

FANDOMS

Just off the top, I’m not a big fan of playing around with canon characters. There’s an uncanny valley effect to me when someone else tries to redevelop a character that I’ve already embraced, and it’s uncomfortable. So fandom games to me are a chance to play around in these wonderful, rich sandboxes that the authors have created. Now, that’s not to say that canon characters can’t poke their heads in when it’s appropriate. After all, they are part of the rich tapestry of these universes. I just prefer not to play as or play across from them all the time.

(AnyxAny) Mass Effect: I love settings where humans aren’t the dominant group, and Mass Effect did a damn good job of creating compelling races with fascinating cultures where humans genuinely felt like upstarts. I am always open to a story pitch in the Mass Effect universe, even if I don’t have any specific plotlines in mind for Mass Effect games. I especially like playing Turians and Quarians, but am open to damn near anything set in the Mass Effect universe.

(AnyxAny) The Sprawl Trilogy (Neuromancer, Count Zero, and Mona Lisa Overdrive): William Gibson is easily one of my favorite writers, and these seminal works of cyberpunk are a brilliant example of what makes him great. They are gritty but fantastic, low fi but high tech in a natural way, and inspire a true sense of wonder and awe not only at the technology displayed, but at the excesses of the corporations and the super rich. I would love to play almost anything cyberpunk-flavored, so if you love the cyberpunk feel but still haven’t read these particular books, I still want to hear what’s on your mind.

FORMS

These are games I don’t have a specific plot, character, or setting idea for, but are more ideas for ways to play games that I would like to explore. They aren’t something I MUST do, so if you like another idea I’ve thrown out and want to play it straight, I am, of course, very open to that too. But if something here speaks to you, please let me know, even if none of my other ideas are your cup of tea. I’m not sold on a specific plot or pairing for any of these games, so pitch whatever you feel like!

Epistolary Game: The telephone is about a century and a half old. Before then, and even well after, people wrote letters. Exploring these letters left behind by both the notable and the obscure is a fascinating window into history and the mind. I would love to try playing a game where all we have are the letters written back and forth between the pair of characters.

Nonlinear storytelling: There are a lot of different directions this could go, if you will pardon the pun. It could be as simple as flashbacks, or as convoluted as time travel. Characters could be moving different directions through time (think The Doctor and River Song or Merlin from The Once And Future King) or one could be popping in and out. It doesn’t even have to be a narrative device; it could simply be something like the novel Catch-22 where it is one coherent, A-to-B story told in a disjointed, nonlinear way. Perhaps it’s an unplanned series of scenes we gradually string together into a coherent narrative as we write.

Third party observations: I heard a saying once: “a different version of you exists in the mind of everyone who knows you.” This phrase strikes me as a fascinating concept for a game. Normally in a game, a pair or small circle of people interact and you write from within the mind of your character, but perhaps this could be turned on its head. Instead of writing from the perspective of the main character, I would like to build a game around the observations of other characters from the supporting cast observing the main characters. I don’t have a lot of specific thoughts on the mechanics of such a system, so if this strikes your fancy and you have ideas on how to flesh out such a game, please let me know!

SETTINGS

I don’t have any specific plot lines here, but these are settings I feel pretty damn comfortable in, and would gladly play in anytime. Feel free to toss me an idea!
