Hey all,

This isn't me putting a game up to run at this time: at the moment, I have the maximum amount on my hands that I'm prepared to handle. However, one of my games is not yet off of its feet, and in my experience it pays to have a backup prepared - hence this thread.

I'm a big horror nerd, and if I couldn't run my current fledgling game (for whatever reason) then I'd be tempted to run something of that genre. It would be a system game, though I have various options in mind that I could pick up (depending on what got the most interest). The options are:

  • Kult: Divinity Lost - A horror game that is unapologetically controversial, and most definitely not for the faint of heart/easily offended. Kult is a game that imagines humanity as captives in a prison designed and manned by demonic, otherworldly beings - though only a scant few of us realise that something is truly wrong. Those rare individuals strive to understand, and escape their indentured fate - much to the fearful horror of our captors, who are terrified of what might happen should we ever get free... and remember what we truly are. (Would use the "Kult: Divinity Lost" RPG system.)
  • ALIEN: A horror game based upon the infamous movie, as well as the franchise that followed it. This story would follow one of two storylines: either a crew, working on various tasks, who eventually encounter the titular monsters; or a hired assembly sent by Weyland-Yutani to recover and bring back Amanda Ripley - the only survivor of the Sevastapoll Station incident. (Would use the "ALIEN" RPG system.)
  • Call of Cthulhu: A horror game based on the famous tales of H.P. Lovecraft. In this story, a well-known Professor has gone missing, and his closest confidantes have been asked to look into the matter, since the authorities don't seem to be taking the matter seriously. (Would use the "Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition" RPG system.)
  • Untitled Serial Killer Horror: Based upon numerous slasher horror movies that have made the sub-genre famous, this story would focus upon a group of individuals (likely teens, but not necessarily) who come face to face with the titular serial killer. (Would use the "Slasher Flick" RPG system - or a custom variation of the Ten Candles RPG system.)
As mentioned above, I'd only pick up one of these games if my other doesn't get off of it's feet, and if there's enough interest in one of the above.

In the case of each game, smut will not be the focus, but will feature to varying degrees depending on what game is more popular (you're more likely to see smut in USKH, which is based on slasher flicks, and Kult, which is unafraid to cover sexual topics, than you would in a 1920's Call of Cthulhu or ALIEN).

If my other game doesn't go forwards, and interest is voiced, then I'll write up a more detailed intro/advertisement for whichever story is popular. However, if no interest is forthcoming, or my other game takes off, then I'll close this thread in response.

I'll plant a interest flag here. Call of Cthulhu is the only system I know from among the four, if you are willing to have a new player in this potential game I will be up for learning. My order of preference is as follows.

Alien

Kult: Divinity Lost

Untitled Serial Killer Horror

Call of Cthulhu

I would be, provided the game chosen is one of the easier ones to teach/set up without the rulebook. (ALIEN, for example.)

On the subject of, that's two with the preference for ALIEN (counting the interest sent via PM)... You guys sure know how to pick the most brutal of the games to back. >:) XD 8-)

Arcanist

Hiya!
I am definitely interested in Call of Cthulhu and willing to learn any other systems. Now where is my copy of Aliens.....
Choice is but an Illusion. Consequences are however real.

Malkavian

Do you have an order of preference? ;)

Arcanist

So in order of preference
1.Call of Cthulhu
2. Alien
3 Divinity Lost
4. Untitled Serial Killer Horror

Thank you

Hey, Malk. I'm going to be an outlier, and say my first pick is KULT. No experience with it (or Aliens, which I would also be down for); but, I should pick it up quickly enough.
A&A's and O&O's *Status: Here and there | Games: Aiming for punctuality*
"In prosperity, our friends know us; in adversity, we know our friends."
"In the ocean of knowledge, only those who want to learn will see the land."
"Before you roar, please take a deep breath."
Check out my poet tree!

Not enough interest for these, so will be shelving the horror game push for the future. Will close this thread, and perhaps return to it someday onward.
