PREMISE

3030 AD is the post-apocalyptic future on a devastated world
where nearly each species went extinct / endangered, including man.

You are age 18+ as you wake from cryostasis in a drowned Neo Tokyo,
with little memory of the idyllic life you had before.

You piece together the mess: it is a hundred years since a fraction of
the human race migrated to another planet. The rest of the lower
class like you were left behind. In a farewell of compassion and mercy,
engineers designed one final shuttle for 4 winners of a virtual reality
Nintendo game. Prerequisites of sole survivors leaving on that shuttle
were strategy and sanity. The game chosen was the popular Japanese
franchise of Pokémon. And the shuttle is still there...

You enter this digital Pocket world on a meta odyssey, in hopes to escape
this planet and join the next. While immersed in this game, you find that
time is the least of your problems... Others -- real people -- battle you
for those four tickets, four life seats on that final shuttle.

Not only do you encounter your own conceited Rival, you encounter
the Wild MISSINGNO. glitch threatening to end the game.
This race to be one of the four ultimate survivors completing
the centennial exodus depends on wits, luck, and serious training.


NEO KANTO REGION
While somewhat true to the original Kanto region, the Pocket World
is modeled after Neo Tokyo one hundred years before its destruction.
Mixed with bittersweet nostalgia and eye-opening discovery, this remix
includes all 18 Types and introduces the future-gen Pokémon to roots.
Not included: Mega evolutions, Dyanamaxing.

The Routes, Gyms, Towns, and Cities transformed. The NPCs
and the mythic lives they lead dramatically changed.

After Prof. Samuel Oak's passing, granddaughter Prof. Daisy Oak
replaced him at the Lab in what is now known as Pallet Bay.

Gary Oak famously known as Blue, self-named to spite his rival,
became one of the Elite Four, one of your mightiest opponents.

Red, the legend himself, became the Champion and vanished. 

Team Rocket returns, doubling trouble and more determined,
with Admins Jessie, James, and the psychotic Persian.
They report to the heir of Giovanni, the red-haired criminal
of many aliases, the one truly named Silver on the hunt
for Missingno. with every intent to wield it for dominion.

GAME RULES and FAQ
1. Do not cause or participate in drama or grudges. Gossip or choices based on past experiences do deprive that writer of future interaction.
If you have an issue with another writer, do not let me or another writer know. Inform site staff only. Please do your best to have fun.
2. A reasonable standard of English is required. Third-person, past tense, no overly short posts.
3. Treat other writers with respect. Do not lust after other characters if the writer says no to a romantic/sexual connection.
Absolutely do not lust after writers under any circumstances. Check Ons/Offs if writing smut.
Include content warnings for graphic or potentially upsetting content.
4. Do not godmode any other characters including any named NPC's.
5. Be proactive in seeking out scenes and connections. Create open scenes, talk to other writers.
This game will not feature a Discord for plotting.
6. Inform me if you are unable to post for two weeks (in general).
7. Avoid politics, religion, and other controversies in the OOC.
8. GM word is final on issues. I will listen and try to work with players wherever possible, though.

Can I choose which Pokémon to encounter?
No, it will be randomized but the PokéDex will show you which Area to hunt.

Will there be Legendaries and Shinies to catch?
Yes, many in the Indigo Plateau, but it is exclusive when caught.

Will there be Held Items, Natures, and Abilities?
Yes, these will be indicated as they come into play.

What is a Tiny Sandbox?
You can go where and do what you please only if the Area allows.

Good morning!

Reading the premise reminds me of a movie whose name I don't remember. In it, people are are trying to win a virtual quest, but must also navigate threats in the real world of other players who are trying to sabotage them. Would this game primarily focus on the virtual world, or would there be components of "real" life to deal with, also?

Are the NPCs (Oak, Team Rocket, Gym Leaders, etc.) people in real life playing the game, or are they just characters within the game?

How much Pokemon knowledge do you need to have? I played Gen 1 version when I was a kid and that's it.

Yes, it's similar to Tron: Legacy and Ready Player One!
Breath of the Wild too with its centennial cryostasis hook
It will primarily focus on the virtual world, tiny sandbox.
1 month in-game = 1 hour spent in "real life"; 2 years in-game = 24 hours spent.
1 week in-game = 12 minutes spent; 1 day in-game = 2 minutes spent.

NPCs in-game are NPCs for sure, but Rivals are "real people".

You don't need to know much in advance, and you can investigate.
I will try to deliver an informative presentation where I can!

Memoir: Emma does not remember much of her life since waking up. All she knows is that she feels as if she was deeply wronged and that she belongs on the shuttle and off the desolate rock she's been left stranded on. It's not because she hates the state of the world, but because she feels that something is up there, waiting for her. That driving determination is a stark contrast to her normally cooperative and nurturing spirit. Emma thinks she's willing to do whatever it takes to win a spot on that shuttle, but will her soft heart get in the way?

Memoir: Vos remembers being sickly... at least in the real world, more than likely as a result of the polluted post-apocalyptic world he was born into. He remembers spending as much, if not more time in virtual reality than outside of it, often beta-testing for virtual reality companies. He remembers struggling to make a real connection with other people in the real world. He remembers being the kind of player who picks every Renegade option, the kind of player obsessed with Smogon tier lists and EVs and IVs, the kind of player that, even in virtual reality, couldn't bring himself to see the NPCs in the world around him as real people. Input dialogue, get a quest or a sidequest or a romance or a fight or an item, and any NPC that couldn't offer him something useful? Not worth his time.

I would prefer group interaction, but I'm also fine with moments of solo adventures. Maybe like a 70/30 split in favor of group if I had to loosely quantify it.

I'm fine with starting now with the understanding that it may be a slow start due to the holiday schedule.

I would enjoy spending the majority of the time with the group, but I am am ok with our characters having solo time as well. It makes sense given they would have to catch and train their team. However, I am really looking forward to the group interactions. 

I am ok starting now or after the holidays. Either way works for me.
