12 signs of the zodiac.

A long time ago, before his departure from earth, Buddha decided to have a grand race and all the animals in the kingdom were invited. However only 12 animals showed up. Greatful for their efforts, Buddha rewarded them be naming each year of the Chinese's Zodiac after the animals. The 12 animals that came for the grand race were a rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. Along side the twelve animals that looked after the year there were also the the 12 celestial beings that looked after the months. Virgo, Leo, Cancer, Gemini, Taurus, Aries, Pieces,, Aquarius, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Scoripus and Libra.

The twelve years animals spirits and the twelve celestirail spirtis lived upon a mystical isle, unlocated by any map, unchanging in a ever changing society. The spirtis leave the isle and visit what is known as "The main land" when it's their turn to bestow gifts upon the human race. Theses gifts can be good, or bad depending upon the spirts whims. However as the century's fade and change and the spirits notice the development of man and technology they themselves become lazy in their duties.

Then on the eve of the new millennium a vote was taken. The spirits had had enough, they decided to "gift"  their spirit into a human and have that human take over their role, and so it was that on midnight of the new millennium twenty four people's lives changed forever!"

The sudden loss of the celestial and year spirits throws the world into chaos and confusion it's up to these twenty four beings to learn how to control their new gifts and then maintain harmony on the main land.

You characters are mortal blessed by a chosen spirit, they can either be humans with powers of the chosen spirit or a humanoid character with aspects of the chosen spirit.or even a human with a animal familiar! When the humans are first chosen by their perspective spirit the powers are uncontrolled and bring them unwanted attention and at the same time they feel drawn to a mystical isle where they meet others like them. On the isle they learn to control their gifts before returning to the main land to restore balance. Remember your all stronger together then apart.

The main objectives

Find the isle
Meet the others and become a team
Learn how to control new abilities
Return to the main land to restore balance.

Sounds nifty! Here's a character I knocked out really quick. Let's see if she works for ya...

Name Dyan Rochester
Age 24
Sex Female
Sexual preference Bi
Spirit takeover Pisces

Personality An upbeat fun-loving free spirit who genuinely wants to make the world of better place... and have a good time.
Likes/Dislikes The outdoors, vintage fashion and pop culture, partying, showing off her curves/Social injustice, pollution, judgemental people, her father
History Dyan was born in Canberra, Australia, the daughter of Stephen Rochester, a mining tycoon. Her teen years were spent without a care in the world except wondering where the next party was going to be. When she wasn't in some club she was at the beach or watching an old movie in a theater. Then while at the University of Melbourne she made some friends outside of her own privileged bubble. Dyan was dismayed to find out who much harm was being done to the environment and Australia's indigenous people by huge companies... like the one owned by her father. This sudden wake-up call gave Dyan a purpose in life, not like she had any plans for her film history degree. With a huge trust fund that gave her a comfortable lifestyle without having work, Dyan decided to spend her life making up for what her father did to the Earth... and having fun. There was nothing to say she couldn't still party after a day of protesting. Her activism spread to other causes as well. Women's issues, LGBTQ rights, anything where she felt that there was injustice that needed to be remedied. This caused quite a schism with her father. He had been used to finding out she had been found passed out naked in someone's yard. Now he had to hear about her marching naked against the fur industry. It would be bad press to cut her out of his life so Stephen Rochester had to have a rather chilly relationship with his only child. Recently while protesting against whaling Dyan was knocked overboard by a wave. Instead of drowning she was able to breathe underwater. She spent a great deal of time in the ocean, exploring its many wonder and seeing firsthand the horrors mankind had inflicted upon it. Dyan found herself growing overemotional, giving into the instincts of the animals she gained power from. A large chunk of time is simply a haze to her. When she regained her senses Dyan was on the shore of a mystical island, not quite sure how she got there but having a feeling it was where she was meant to be.

Powers Aquatic animal adaptation
Power strengths She can gain the abilities of virtually any form of sea life... fish, mammal, reptile, mollusc... even altering her size and shape if need be.
Power weakness Depending on which life form she is adapting Dyan might not be able to breathe out of the water. Also using her abilities for an extended an put her into a more primal mindset, relying on animal instincts. Currently she has little choice in exactly which creature she adapts, which can lead to some surprises.

Yay thanks! Had to jump in seeing you made a game! Question though. Would our characters have had any magic prior to the merging of souls? Either is fine, just wanted be sure.

Juggtacular

I'd like to claim the Dragon spirit if at all possible.

Sorry I skipped this!! So what i will loosly class as "modern day" magic is slow pre merge.
I.e. premonition, card reading, Wicca and so on but nothing massive like shifting or element control

Nope.

Well, OK. I fleshed her out some more by editing my post. Also I've been singing "Here on Zodiac IIIIIIsle!" in my head all afternoon so hopefully I've cursed someone else with it.  >:)
