Gladiolusopening

All of these are rough ideas. I’m always opem to plotting and discussion, and I enjoy it a lot.

X is the role I’d prefer to play, but I’m flexible. Unlike my usual, there's some dub-con in here!

The Changeling

X is a changeling, except he isn’t. His mother had an affair with an elf/fairy/fair folk type. To explain X and his distinctly not-human appearance, when her husband returned, she played the grieving mother left with a fae child in the place of her own. As a result, his step-father rejects him out of hand, despite X's desperate attempts to win his approval and affection. It is only amplified when he is apparently the only child they can produce, and his mother dotes on him.

The fair folk are not trusted but also are considered too dangerous to threaten. So X is shunned but never harmed. He abandons his mother's home, knowing he is only bringing her misfortune, hoping for her happiness.

Y, a prominent mage, finds X bussing tables in a bar and is immediately suspicious because X is tingling with magic, made of it despite appearing to be fully human. So he follows him, eventually realizing that X isn't fully human.

Turns out X is a ‘doctor’ at an unlicensed clinic; poor people go, or people who can’t be seen at a public hospital. Practicing healing magic is illegal because it's considered to be unnatural, a few steps above necromancy (naturally the rich can afford to pay for it) and Y can tell X has basically no training. It’s raw talent. So the bargain is this; I’ll train you, not turn you in, and we both make a lot of money.

X is...not thrilled, considering that Y can turn them in at any time and has most of the power in their agreement, but doesn’t have much choice. But his desire is to end the bias and hatred against people like himself.

Who We Are In The Dark

X is maybe a minute from jumping off a bridge. He can hear people thinking. And it almost never stops. Ever. Between the overstimulation and the sense that humans are awful, he’s done.

‘I can help you. If you want.’ Y followed them. ‘I know how it feels.’

And X realizes he can’t hear what he’s thinking. It’s been years since he’s looked at someone and not heard a whisper of their thoughts. And walking off the bridge with him, he doesn’t hear anyone else’s.

While they work together, Y keeps ignoring any attraction between them, because that is a bad idea. X is still massively dependent on him; it's too unequal a relationship to pursue, despite X subtly pushing at him.

Meanwhile, X is realizing, suddenly, some peoples’ thoughts are nothing but static, and they seem...off. Y is having a feeling something isn’t right but isn’t sure what. Is X just noticing this, or is he causing it?

Contracts

X is dragged along to a brothel with his friends; as he’s mainly interested in men, he’s expecting to nurse a drink until they’re done.

But they’ve surprised him; the brothel isn’t women-only. And there’s Y, a cambion. And wearing a collar, marking him as the brothel’s property. Being half incubus, Y is a money maker. Even his presence ups the mood; more money spent.  The collar is also marked with a binding spell. Y offers X his services; X becomes a regular client.

A lot of the sex workers also work like Japanese hostesses or escorts and will go on ‘dates’; Y does, but every client is told to never take the collar off.  But Y intends to manipulate X into doing it, and he does eventually ask. X might suspect that their relationship isn’t real or he’s totally snowed.

Y is surprised at his own affection for X but still plans on leaving. X, not wanting him to leave, rather than removing the collar, manages to transfer ownership to himself instead. Y is furious, and won’t engage, but X can have some control over his actions, even when he doesn’t mean to. (Consent is questionable here.) Y wants to leave; X is torn, especially because he’s not sure that Y won’t cut his throat if he does let him go.

You Get What You Pay For

X is a sex worker; he makes good money, but since it’s harder to get an apartment without ‘on the books’ income, he works a few nights a week at a bar and splits an apartment with Y, who couldn’t afford something that decent on his budget. (I was thinking Y could be another bartender, or freelance or something that lets him cross paths with X when they’re working odd hours.)

Y is, and has been, very attracted to X, but isn’t sure that a. X even sees him as anything other than the guy who lives in his apartment, and b. That even if he does, if X even dates.

The attraction is mutual, but X isn’t going to act on it. He’s gone through a few times; guys get jealous very quickly. Maybe when he stops doing it. But. It’s...not just about attraction.

It’s one stupid drunk kiss. One stupid ‘I like you.’ X wants to pretend it never happened; Y asks to try. X threatens to go find another place to live and to dig the knife in, starts bringing hookups over. Y is forced to listen through the walls; X is being loud on purpose.

Self-sabotage, both in a situation where leaving is untenable; and both of them want to bridge the gap. But is it too late for that?

Another Chance

X works as a librarian; he’s very quiet, most people he meets assume the wildest he’s ever been is an extra glass of wine.

Not so much. X used to have quite an exciting private life. Parties, hookups, too many shots. But it came to a crashing halt one night. A bunch of people in a big hotel suite; the next thing he knew he was being pinned down. At first, he thought they were just playing around, and he’s not a stranger to group sex, but this wasn’t that. No one asked. Someone had covered his mouth and eyes.

He didn’t know how many exactly. More than three, less than eight. He went to the hospital; got the meds. Kept taking the meds. Cried when he got the last negative result. And the entire time he went to work with a smile on his face.

All his partying friends had long since fucked off. That left him with a few calmer friends and family. Some approve of his ‘healthier’ lifestyle, but a few of them notice he’s not the same. No dates, he barely goes anywhere that isn’t his job or a favorite coffee shop. He doesn’t go out after dark at all.

Y is part of the same social group; he and X were friendly, but he didn’t think they had much in common. Y’s an archivist, and he didn’t think a party boy was going to be into him or anything but shallow. Turning out to be wrong about X’s personality, they start getting along a lot better.

Obviously, there’s non-con in the backstory here; the plot, however, would be about exploring the character dynamics between the two of them. X’s growing feelings for Y that he feels like he can’t explore, because what gay guy wants to date someone who can’t fuck? (Yes, this says something about X's past relationships and self-worth.) Y’s reactions I’d like for my partner to explore.

Transformation

Vampires are a rare breed. Many of those who are transformed don’t survive the process, and some of those who do go insane; it’s also very rare for vampires to give birth to/sire another vampire. Now, vampires in this universe aren’t basically humans that drink blood. They can be mistaken for humans, but they don’t think like humans. Humans are meat; a vampire that fucks humans is comparable to a human who fucks dogs. Killing humans-sapient beings-for food isn’t immoral, or really even something that vampires who are older than a few months even think about. Same way humans who aren’t vegetarians think of cows, even those who think cows are cute can eat them. Only if they think a human will make a good vampire are they worth anything.

X is a vampire; relatively young, about a hundred and fifty. Unlike other vampires, he doesn’t believe in just making as many vampires as possible to increase the odds. He chooses very carefully.

But he’s lost both of the vampires he made; after about half a century, his ‘daughter’ went mad and finally committed suicide. His lover, who he made a vampire only a few months after he was turned, was killed by a vampire hunter.

So he’s looking for another companion. Y fits the bill-whether he wants to or not. But he just might resent X for taking his humanity, even while he’s dependent on him. X plans on keeping Y with him; he chose him. He’s his.

There are non-con elements here; X doesn’t rape Y, but the transformation is done completely without Y’s consent, and Y does feel violated by it, while X doesn’t even necessarily realize that Y could resent him for this. And Y can’t function without X anyway; he can’t even feed on his own yet. This is not a healthy start to any relationship.
