The Premise

Love Island is a dating reality TV show based in the UK. The contestants come from all over the globe and are part of the general public. The islanders are coming to live together in a villa located in Mallorca (the largest island in the Balearic Islands). Their every move and every word will be under constant surveillance, and they will have no connection to the outside world during their stay. The islanders must couple up for their chance to win £50,000. Whether they have chosen to be a part of a couple for friendship, love, or money, is entirely up to the contestant. By the end of the show, there will be only one winning couple.

One by one, the islanders will choose who they would like to couple up with. While one islander is choosing who they would like to couple up with, all of the other islanders will be waiting and lined up in the backyard. The host of this reality dating show will be present for the first coupling, helping to guide it along and making sure everyone understands the rules. If any of the islanders who are waiting in line wish to partner up with the islander who is set to choose, all they need to do is take a step forward to mark their interest. But, the islander set to choose still has their pick of any islander. They can even choose someone who didn't step forward. Should someone already be in a couple but also want to couple up with someone else, they can step forward again. If they get chosen, then their former partner has to move to the subs bench. Once the coupling is finished, whoever is on the subs bench will pair up with whoever remains.

Over the course of the show, the islanders will be asked to re-couple. There they must choose to either staying in their couple or swap to create a new couple. Should any islander remain single instead of being in a couple, they will be dumped from the island and forced to leave the competition. Couples might also be eliminated based on the public vote, where the public are able to vote for their favorite couples on the Love Island app. Islanders will not know the results of public votes until the host announces them. Sometimes the couples within the villa will have to vote another couple off of the island. And sometimes the villa needs some spicing up. It is during these times that the host will announce new arrivals. New arrivals are there to see if they can create a couple for themselves, thereby ensuring them a bed to sleep in at the villa. If the new arrivals cannot secure a couple, then they will be forced to leave the villa.

While they are in the villa, each islander is given their own Love Island smartphone. While using this phone, they can only contact the other islanders, or be contacted by our host. These phones have text, calling, and photo abilities. Texts from the host are to announce when there will be a challenge, a coupling, or a dumping. Challenges are important to win because they allow couples the chance to leave the villa and go on a proper date with the other member of their couple. Not only that, but sometimes winning a challenge can mean special prizes. These challenges are typically created to test the islanders physical and mental abilities, and also frequently test their compatibility with one another.

The Cast

Love Island is accepting contestants from all over the world. Even though this show accepts applications in the UK, contestants can come from anywhere. The language that is spoken on the show is English. All contestants must be 21 years of age or older. Also, every contestant needs to have an updated passport. The islanders will move into the villa on July 1st, 2019 and the winners will be announced on August 9th, 2019. That means the contestants will be living together at the villa for a total of 6 weeks. Well, unless they are dumped from the island, of course. Now, when each contestant couples up and takes a tour of the house, they will discover that there are only enough beds for each couple. Meaning, every couple in the villa must share the bed. So, if an islander wants to swap and be a part of a new couple, well, doing so privately or secretly are pretty much off the table. There is only one, extra large bedroom in the villa and the beds line the walls, so that they all face each other. This also means that if a couple should decide to get intimate together and does not have access to the hideaway room, then everyone gets to hear and maybe even see... everything.

As soon as the islanders get to the set, they will be given their own mics. These mics look like little more than a nude colored necklace. The cords within the necklace are all coiled together tightly and protected by a waterproof piece of material. So, yes, islanders can get these mics wet. In fact, that is entirely expected. With cameras rolling constantly and from seemingly every corner of the villa, our audience is expecting to hear every little thing. Also, every islander must wear their necklace at all times. While they eat, while they sleep, even behind closed doors. Don't worry - our editing team will protect the islanders privacy when it comes to using the toilet and shower. Unless, of course, the islanders are actually canoodling behind that closed bathroom door. And if that's the case, let's just hope that particular islander's mum and dad don't watch!

The Villa

The villa is surrounded by privacy trees and electric, eight fool tall fences along the entire property. Why so much privacy and security? Quite simply, it is of the utmost importance that the islanders are truly removed from society for this dating experience. There will be no interference from the paparazzi, nor will camera men be milling about and recording people on their own devices. There may be a time for the islanders to come face to face with the outside world, but even that will be limited. For example, if an islander wins a competition and gets a phone call from mum and dad, that phone call is limited to only 5 minutes. Or, if a contestant wins a competition and gets to go out on a date with the other member of their couple, that date will be in a secluded location which has been reserved for them, so that they will not run into the general public. It is important that we keep the islanders separated from the general population, so that they are not influenced by the votes happening on the outside.

Inside the Villa

The Bedroom - Yes, that's right. It's just one massive bedroom filled with six King sized beds. Each bed fits into a frame that has dresser drawers built into the end. This means that each couple has to share the space for their clothes and other belongings. Consequently, when and if a couple swaps, they might need to move their belongings along with them. There is no rule that forces couples to sleep in the same bed every night. Though it is expected, if a couple is having an argument and one islander wishes to sleep outside or on the couch, that is perfectly acceptable.

Aside from the beds, the other massive thing in the bedroom is the window. The entire back wall is a window with a sliding glass door that opens up to a balcony. From the balcony, islanders can see what is happening on the lawn outside, in the backyard. This is where the islanders will be instructed to stand when and if the newcomers start arriving, to mix things up a bit and throw the cast off balance. The curtains that hang over the window are nearly sheer, which means when the sun starts to rise, those rays will shine inside and likely wake up the islanders. This is done with the intention of keeping every islander on a similar schedule.

The bedroom is located upstairs, and it is just off the staircase, to the right.

The Dressing Room - Located on the second floor, to the left of the stairs, is the dressing room, which is also sometimes referred to as the powder room or the get ready room. Here, there are four cushioned seats surrounding a vanity with two mirrors. Against one wall is a tall wardrobe closet, where islanders can hang their clothes and store their shoes, luggage, toiletries, and other miscellaneous items. In the corner of the room, there is a long mirror for the islanders to use to check their overall looks. The vanity station is for holding the islanders makeup and anything else they use to get themselves ready. There are outlets along the legs of the vanity desk, so flat irons and curling irons or anything else that requires a plug can also be used here, without hassle. Because space is somewhat limited, islanders may need to share.

The bathroom is located on the second floor of the villa, just beyond the dressing room. There are "his and her" sinks on both sides of the bathroom. On one end, there is a large porcelain tub which provides plenty of room for two. On the opposite end is the shower stall which is large enough to comfortably fit five people. Beside that is a door that leads to the entirely private toilet and bidet. There are organization baskets beneath the sinks on both ends, each one assigned to a specific islander. This makes keeping track of their toiletries and personal items much easier.

The Living Room - Located on the first floor, just at the base of the staircase, is the living area. Two L shaped couches face each other and match the general aesthetic of the villa. Here, the islanders can hold house meetings, if they wish. Though the meetings that the host of the show calls will be held at the fire pit. From here, another sliding glass door opens up to the backyard. But, on the opposite wall, is the front door. Sometimes the islanders will hear a doorbell ringing. This means they have received visitors. Whether they are new arrivals, or someone else entirely. There are two doors on either side of the wall attached to the staircase. The door on the left, closest to the backyard, is the hideaway. The door on the right, closest to the front door, is the diary room.

The Diary Room - Located on the first floor, to the right of the staircase, through a door that is always kept closed, is the diary room. This room is where islanders can get away from the others and have a few moments to simply speak to the camera there. Some islanders treat it like a verbal diary, where they share what's on their mind or heart. Hence the name, diary room. Couples might come in here together to speak about something, as well. In these diary room entries, the islanders might think to address the public, who are going to be voting for or against them during the course of the 5 weeks they are in the villa. But, normally, this is where we start to see the islanders vent or break down. The diary room is the only place in the entire villa that is strictly off limits for sex.

The Hideaway - The door to the hideaway is located to the left of the staircase off of the living room. It has a circle shaped King sized bed, its own private bath, and is completely secluded from the rest of the villa. There are other perks to this hideaway, like its own private terrace:

And a table for two to enjoy a private, romantic meal together:

Outside the Villa

The Kitchen - The kitchen is located outside, tucked away beneath a tent ceiling. The kitchen is fully functional with a double wide refrigerator, stocked to the brim with food, a convection oven and electric stove, as well as every appliance any islander would need. Oh, and who could forget the bar? Bar stools line the edge of the counter top with the stove, doubling the space as a place to eat or drink. The fridge has an ice and water dispenser attached to it. Every islander will be given their own water bottle which holds one liter and has that specific islanders name printed on the side of it. Girls names are in neon pink or orange, while guys names are in neon blue or green. Next to the kitchen is a seating area which looks like a modern dining table. Not to worry, there is enough space for everyone. The islanders may enjoy using this space to eat their meals, but they are not restricted to only eating in the kitchen. Also, the islanders are allowed to order takeaways and other food, should they wish to.

The Pool - How can anyone not notice where that gorgeous pool is? In the backyard, right in the center, is the pool. It is meant to look like the actual beach, with a sandy colored bottom that leads directly into the water, like how the sand leads into the ocean. The pool is contained by a powder blue border, which obviously contains the deeper end of the water. All anyone needs to do to get into the pool, is walk in from the shallow end. Or jump in from the deep end. Around the pool are walkways. To the left of it is the smoking area. To the right of it are the lounging chairs. An outdoor storage shed located in the corner near the jacuzzi, is where plenty of flotation devices and gym equipment are kept. It is because of this pool that the audience might expect to see our islanders in their bathing suits so frequently. Well, that and the lounging chairs that so many islanders take advantage of in order to get a tan.

The Jacuzzi - The hot tub is near the back corner of the pool. In order to reach it, the islanders will have to walk around the walkway from the back of the villa. That walkway will lead them to the smoking area first, then the jacuzzi next. This section is somewhat tucked away against the back fence of the backyard. Now, because this dating reality show is taking place during the summer, the hot tub may be too hot to get much use out of it. So, the islanders might want to pay attention to when the weather is particularly cool out. Maybe during the sunrise is the best time to occupy it.

The Smoking Area - Beside the hot tub, there is a small sitting area with several chairs gathered round an interesting piece of furniture, which is really nothing more than a massive ash tray. The islanders should dispose of their cigarette butts by putting them out in here, rather than flicking them along the lawn or extinguishing them in the water.

The Fire Pit - Located in the right back corner of the backyard, tucked against the fence, is the fire pit, which is nestled up near a rounded, white couch. This is where the host will gather the islanders when it comes time for figuring out who will be dumped from the island after the public have voted. But, this couch isn't intended for only the bad news! It is a lovely place for sitting and having a bit of a chat, especially when the islanders are throwing a party. The fire pit itself is not a grill that needs wood and an actual fire in order to be started. It has a bunch of rocks on it and a lever on the side, which when it's flipped, ignites the rocks and creates a small fire, which is contained within the fire pit itself. Obviously, it is real fire, so should the islanders feel the desire to make s'mores, it'll most certainly work.

The Day Beds - There are two day beds outside, located side by side and in between the kitchen and the sliding glass door that leads out from the living room. Each day bed has two chairs set up on either side of them. They are king sized beds and they have a shelter above them, which is attached to the balconies above. From the daybeds, it is possible to see nearly every part of the backyard at one time. These beds can be used for having a bit of a chat, or if there is trouble in paradise between the islander couples, then these day beds make a brilliant getaway for those who are in need of another place to sleep. They also work perfectly well for those islanders who might be in need of a nap.

The Gym Area - To the left of the lounging area and around the walking path of the pool, is the outdoor gym. Plenty of equipment is located inside this shack and can be used by any islander. There are weights, yoga mats, medicine balls, and just about everything that any fit islander would need to keep as fit as possible.

Oh it never got off the ground! If I recall I was waiting for more men? It's not important (and certainly wasn't my attempt to derail your own game) but yeah! I find it was hard to get an even number of people and then new islanders to come in much like the tv show.

Not sure if you know but CBS is now doing their own version of it as well. It started last week.

I can reserve face claims for people before they make their sheet. But we're starting with only two characters per player. If you'd like me to reserve a FC for you, just let me know!

So, dumb-ish question. If we want to recycle a character from another game who just never got the run that we wanted him to get, is that okay?

Yes, of course! As long as the character works for this game!

Haven't seen the show but really interested in writing for a very good looking older woman if this fits the idea of the show. Would be interesting if she gets couples with a much younger partner.

I'm on season 2 now! Need to binge watch it more often, there are so many episodes!

And, of course, we have plenty of room!

I do want to keep the ages relatively close in this game. Having one woman in her late 40's doesn't seem very fitting. So, I think the age range here should be somewhere between 21 and 31. The show's oldest contestants are 31 years of age. I might make allowances for someone as old as 32 or even 33. But much older than that doesn't feel right for the show. Not that there is anything wrong with being the wrong age for this game in RL, but for the game, I think that's what makes the most sense. xD

Regardless of age though, feel free to make whichever sort of character you would like!

Sorry, everyone. I realized I've missed some things in the character sheets. If you've sent me one already, I will make the changes for you, but if you haven't, please take a look at the template to see it. I've added "face claim" and "hometown" to the sheets.
