Titan arum - a flowering plant with the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world.

It looks amazing but its odor.. is not. I had the luck and saw it bloom some years ago and the smell is.. somewhere between rotten flesh and vomit. Still, it is quite the spectacle to behold!

Also known as the 'corpse lily', for obvious reasons.

The largest actual flower belongs to a similarly fetid plant, Rafflesia arnoldii, the flower of which can be a meter across!

Titan arum (Amorphophallus titanum) is an amazing spectacle to behold if one is so lucky to witness it. The flowering diapause typically lasts 7–10 years, though the cycle can be shorter (2–3 years). The flower is only sexually reproductive for 48 hours. There is a specimen at the Muttart Conservatory in Edmonton, Alberta that bloomed in 2017.

Correct. R. arnoldii is the world's largest solitary flower, while A. titanum is the world's largest spadix, a type of unbranched inflorescence¹. The world's largest inflorescence based on physical size is the Queen of the Andes (Puya raimondii), a hapaxantic species of bromeliad whose spike can grow 10–15 m in height. If anyone is interested in learning more about P. raimondii, check out this publication.

Agreed! We saw one bloom some years ago, here in the Botanical Garden of the University. It was spectacular! The odor is really terrible, but it was totally worth it because it's rare.
