Welcome to Face Off, a roleplaying tournament hosted by yours truly. Here you will sharpen your skills, meet new friends, a couple of enemies, and most importantly, kick some ass! Fights will be one vs. one and take place in one of several areas. Arenas will be chosen randomly via a dice roll.

This is the hub thread where you will find the current bracket (Once the game has started), in case you want to know your current standing, as well as a directory to all fights that are taking place as well as the matches that have finished.

A singularity called the "Phantom Field" is mixing the realities of other chosen universes. Members of those worlds abruptly summoned while instructed by the "Phantom Field," the mysterious voice itself, They have been instructed to battle against one another to collect something called a Keystone, and each participant has been given one. The one called 'Phantom Field' has told each of them that retrieving them would grant the one who's collected them all will receive a single wish.

This is Face Off!

1. No Godmoding. This means no power playing, no auto-hitting/auto-grabbing, and no character control. All of which will be explained below.

2. No Auto-Hits or Auto-Grabs. This shouldn't need to be explained, but something tells me I'll have to anyway. You cannot make your attacks hit automatically or automatically grab onto your opponent. Instead of "Person One punched Person Two right in the fucking mouth," try "Person One swung his fist at Person Two's mouth, aiming to remove some teeth or dislocate his jaw." Instead of "Person Two grabbed onto Person One's arm and threw him," try "Person Two reached for Person One's arm, intending to grab onto it then throw him." If your opponent breaks this rule and auto-grabs you, you are allowed to "auto-break" out of it. If a grab attempt is legit and it lands, you are to be held until they let you go.

3. No Powerplaying. I'm sure tons of you will have Gods, Demons, Angels, etc., but don't use the heritage you made up for your character as an excuse to withstand everything, dodge everything, and have immensely powerful abilities. I'll be lenient with entries and will allow you to enter whatever you want, but please know if I think you're too overpowered, you'll be asked to change it accordingly, and if it's consistent then I'll have to take steps afterward. It should be common sense to distinguish an overpowered character or ability from one that isn't; don't make me have to tell you're overpowered.

4. No Character Control. Your character is your character. Someone else's character is their character. Do not take control of someone else's character, unless given permission. There are minor ways to violate this rule in addition to blatantly controlling your opponent. For example: "Everyone was suddenly afraid of Sasuke when he arrived, especially Naruto."

5. Be Realistic. If your character is human, he's not going to be hit by a flying car and come out the wreckage unscathed. Also, every character must become exhausted at some point, especially after powerful attacks. If you fire a super energy blast, your character shouldn't be perfectly fine without breaking a sweat.

6. Do Not Spam Powerful Attacks. You're free to use powerful "super" attacks but know that you cannot use them more than once or twice a fight. When a super attack is used, your character should become tired, drained, or winded and require quite some time to perform the attack again, if at all.

7. Write in Third Person. While other places may tolerate the use of dash and asterisk first-person roleplaying, I will not. I won't insult anyone's literacy, but third person roleplaying is mandatory. It makes more sense to write about your character instead of to write as your character anyway.

8. No Illiteracy. As I said, I won't insult anyone's literacy, but please try to be as literate as possible when participating in this tournament, OOC or IC. Also, I will be lenient with post size to an extent. You are entirely free to post a single paragraph if you want, but if someone wrote a more substantial post to be respectful and try and met the same standard.

9.. You Have OOC Freedom. I'm not one of those uptight goody-two-shoes tournament hosts who disallow arguing, explicit conversations, etc. You're free to do whatever the hell you want! At your own risk, though. You never know if a mod will be watching or if another user will want to report you. This rule only applies to this thread, the OOC hub.

10. No OOC Bickering During Fights. Refrain from arguing in your actual fights. Keep all the trash talk here.

12. Stick to Your Sign-Up. Do not use powers, weapons, or anything else that was not mentioned in your character sheet,

13. Judgments Are Final Don't argue against the ruling. Accept the loss and move on.

1. Concise posts that describe your actions in sufficient detail without being overly wordy. I don't want to have to read two paragraphs about how your character is so conflicted about fighting and their philosophies on the necessity of violence, then another paragraph about your hair blowing in the wind and your eyes sparkling, then another giving the exact movements of each of your fingers and your arms as you draw your sword. Your posts don't need to be long and pretty; they need to get the job done.

2. Interesting moves. If you've just been jumping backward away from your opponent while throwing the occasional random energy blast, but your opponent has been manipulating the minerals underground to construct a twenty-foot golem made of crystal, you can bet I'm going to be favoring the guy with the better image. Impress me with stuff I haven't seen before, and you're going to have a much better chance of winning.

3. Use of tactics and your surroundings. This is relatively obvious, but it's worth stating here; running around in circles kicking and punching at your opponent is frankly a fucking boring and unintelligent way to fight. A decent RPer fights with a plan in mind and attempts to manipulate his opponent into exposing himself to attack. If you're competing in an underground cavern, try impaling your foe with a stalactite; if you're fighting on top of a volcano try kicking that bitch into the lava; if you're fighting in a daycare center, make some nunchucks out of toddlers tied together. The world is your weapon.

4. Adherence to physics in a fantasy setting. Some people believe that "realism" is pointless in a fantasy-based RP because everyone does unrealistic things; this is a fallacy. Sure, you might be able to control the elements or run faster than a bullet, but that doesn't mean inertia, gravity, friction, and mass are going to behave any differently than they do in the real world. Just because you're super strong, it doesn't mean you can hover in midair throwing punches for thirty seconds, double-jump over your opponent, or cut through an entire building with one swing of your sword. If I see you trying bullshit like this you're going to be out of this tournament so fast your head will spin.

5. The damage took vs. damage inflicted. This is the last thing I'll consider when reviewing a fight. The amount of damage you inflict on a foe is not a good indicator of how skilled an RPer you are because it's your opponent who determines whether or not your hits land (and some little bitches like to assume they're fast enough to make every dodge they can think of). That being said, it will weigh slightly in my final decisions, but don't think that means dodging everything will increase your chances of winning. If I see you're unscathed and haven't even broken a sweat at the end of your fight, it's going to profoundly affect your chances in a negative way.

#1

Peaceful Cliffside
A road used by travelers that runs along the edge of a cliff. There is limited space to fight. At the bottom of the cliff there are several jagged rocks, so avoid falling off.
Roll 1

Mr. Peach's Jazz Club
The front of a popular jazz lounge in New Orleans. Nothing special. No boosts unless your character is empowered by soothing saxophones and "snap" applause.
Roll 2

Annual Festival
The village of Masta has its annual festival that attracts quite many locals and tourists alike. The area is bustling, and weapons have been forbidden. You must fight with your bare hands.
Roll 3

Burning Building
One of several buildings that have been set on fire for this tournament. The building won't hold up too long, so fighters must complete the fight before they are either burned to death or the building collapses upon them. Heavily favors fire users.
Roll 4

Kyoto Red Light District
A busy district in Kyoto filled with several brothels. Slightly less crowded than the Annual Festival but some fighters might be distracted by Geisha girls in short kimonos.
Roll 5

Yuden Cemetery
A deserted graveyard in the middle of nowhere. Rain has not fallen in quite some time, so the grass and trees have withered and died. The dead grass is highly susceptible to flames. A seemingly unnatural fog covers the stage but is not thick enough to obstruct vision. A full moon eerily hangs overhead, completely illuminating the entire graveyard. Stage favors dark powers and necromancy.
Roll 6

Deloria
The domain of the Deloria Sisters located on the shore of a small island. The sisters are demigoddesses who have a strong hatred for men. Therefore they use their powers to strengthen all females who fight in their territory.
Roll 7

Blighted Shire
The area around the shrine has been hexed by a deteriorating curse. The curse gradually kills any living organism in its presence, hence the withered grass and the dead trees scattered about. The sky above the area is exclusively stormy with an abnormally brownish-orange sky. After six posts, both players will become dizzy. After fifteen, their bodies begin to ache all over. After forty posts, both players are rendered unconscious, and the fight will be over then promptly judged. IC, both characters will be removed from the stage to prevent their death.
Roll 8

Lancer Penitentiary
A deserted prison yard where inmates spent their recess time. Basketball hoops and weightlifting equipment are around, albeit broken and weathered. The yard is surrounded by razorwire fences to prevent inmates from escaping. There is a massive fenced ring in the wall of the prison as a result of an inmate's escape.
Roll 9

Rando's Remorse
The tranquil waters of this marsh are rife with negative soul energy which suffuses the area and makes it nigh impossible to use special abilities. No powers can be used here, and special racial traits are neutralized as well.
Roll 10

The Temple of Ntht
Blessed by a benevolent deity, this temple is a haven for pure souls. Evil and darkness-based powers are weakened considerably here, while Light and Holy powers are strengthened.
Roll 11

Evilcupcakecat

Hey, I'm interested but I'm a newbie. Are there any limitations on what species someone's character could be?

LeSane

There isn't much of a limitation just as long as they aren't a person, thing, or entity that can't be damaged.

Probably needs some grammatical adjustments and perhaps some other adjustments if the GM wills it, but for now posting this here for safekeeping!

Name: Murakami Kaito

Alias: Drakeborne

Age: 26

Sex: Male

Fighting Style: Though possessing plenty of muscle and athletic capability, Kaito is far from as fast as he used to be, on-foot anyway. Instead of speedy chasing runs, he prefers to use sudden or powerful hops to close the distance with enemies, utilizing his talons, wings, and even tail to control his movements during the approach. For direct combat, his punches lean a little more on the weaker end of the spectrum, preferring to use the limbs instead for using other weapons or some throws. Much of his power is actually concentrated in his legs, lending to vicious kicks, knee strikes, and nail rakes strong enough to compromise stone or even atempt to grasp enemies with his unusual feet. If one had to bluntly explain his fighting style, it would fall somewhere close to an Inhuman Brawler style, with more than half of his fighting capacity involving his physical being.

Powers: Once a normal human, events in Kaito's world forced a most drastic change in his home dimension. He himself is no different, being altered by a living parasite to become the inhuman monstrosity he is now. Besides a heavily increased physical power build (offensively and defensively), one of his newest additions is his ability to utilize caustic purple flames that can be emanated from his hands, feet, lashed out from his tail, and more expectedly spat from his mouth. The flames, while capable of typical burn potential, also possess a withering component that seeks to rob enemies' fortitude through prolonged exposure, an aspect aimed more at foes who prove too strong for normal or even magical flames. Quick strikes will not have as much of an effect as a concentrated stream in the short term, but is much more easily accessible and spammable as Kaito cannot recklessly use these aspects without eventually incurring self-inflicted damage.

Fortunately, a moderate healing factor is present in his body to prevent any irreparable damage caused by his own attacks, though it requires time to work. Furthermore, this cannot be relied upon to offset damage incurred from enemies as it works too slow to keep him healthy forever, and he isn't fast enough to play keep-away for very long. Finally, his overall bodily mutation may very well be his most pronounced and relied upon power. Wings capable of granting flight through his wingarms, a tail capable of acting as another offensive limb, destructive legs to shatter hardy enemies all come together to create an effective combat machine from a chaotic world, seeking to wreak further chaos in lawless lands.

Appearance: Once standing at an average 5'9, post mutation Kaito now stands roughly 6'6 (part of that may be him standing slightly raised on his feet plus his horns). His body is now a more ashen gray/black color, with a lighter gray marking where the scales are thinnest on his chest and inner thighs. Marking his body are a myriad of purple glowing tattoo-like marks that radiate with a low glow normally too hard to see in the day but in dark conditions or general night they can easily be seen. His physique still bears some resemblances to his prior human form, but much of his scaling has reinforced his frame and made it much hardier than ever before. If one wishes to inflict good damage to him, aim for where the scales are lightest.

Background: A native from Japan, or at least one of a myriad of its versions that exist throughout the known Multiverse. In this version a great catastrophe has been wrought upon the world by one man's greedy wish to become lord of a new world by merging two others with aN unknown deity's power. The result has killed off more than 80% of the known human life, and allowing the world to become overrun with demons and entities of all shapes, sizes, makes, and allegiances. In a last gamble to hopefully engineer a means of fixing everything, three high ranking beings forged a temporary alliance and halted their endless war to create a means of potentially slaying gods, then cast them into the bodies of the surviving humans of the new world. Among those beings was a young man named Kaito.

Traversing immense regions created from a fusion of worldwide continents and landscapes from other worlds with a group of other survivors and the entities they befriend on their ventures, Kaito and his associates have battled countless entities, anti-devil machines, violent human survivors, and more to discover just why the world became what it was. Along the way they have been harrowed by zealots who support the false god of the new world, and through their fierce attacks have caused the people to grow in one way or another. For Kaito, he sacrificed a great deal of his humanity for greater power, becoming that which he'd fought most throughout his adventures and turning into a form most fitting his relationship with his allied creatures.

Coming back stronger and more violent than ever, Kaito has waged unholy war in the new world and come to learn that his power can do more than right the wrong in the world. Whike he intends to slay the false god for everything it's inflicted upon him, his allies, and the world at large, his plans after that are known only to him. However, before he can return to his bloody warpath, he must content with something no one, not even the ruler of the new world could have forseen: An outside force has pulled the man from his world and cast him into an interdimensional game of supremacy, with the promise of one wish that woukd be granted if he won. Ever a person eager for more power, he saw his chance to use such a wish for once he returned home... But as to how, no one knows... Not even he himself, yet.

Players On's: I always find it hard to put something down here because my tastes are always being explored at times. However, if I'm required to put something down here, I'll get around to it later.

Players Off's: Now this is much easier, no scat, piss, needleplay, toiletplay in general, vore, snuff, overall the kind of kinks almost everyone would consider for their 'Hell no' list.

Character Theme: Will get back to you on this!
